This has been bothering me.
On the busiest traffic day of the year, when over 150,000+ fans and people associated with the NASAR Sprint car race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, did the Nevada Highway Patrol do it's best to open up the I-15, after they had closed it for from about 2:30 until about 7:00?
If you watch this video:
http://bcove.me/4x5rvoar, you will see at the 1 min 18 sec point, that the reporter is standing next to the wreck, with no NHP troopers or investigators around the wreck. The reporter was by himself. Why?
I have never seen this, where a reporter has been allowed to stand next to a wreck, while the investigation was supposedly taking place, especially on the Interstate. Every time there is a fatal accident, the reporters and camera crew are always kept a distance away from the wreck and certainly never standing 2 feet away from it. Did they allow other TV stations to film like this as well?
Also, the cause of the crash was never in doubt. The woman killed was drunk, had open intoxicants and she hit the truck- the truck didn't hit her.
Further, the area where the accident occurred is at least 4 lanes, after the fire dept. left and a little clean up, why could they not open up at least 2 lanes of the Interstate?
So, was the NHP doing it's best to clear the road and get the miles long traffic jam (about 10 miles or more) moving, or did they milk the investigation so that they and their buddies working at the Speedway could collect more overtime pay?
My guess it was the latter.
Better still, the fact that people were diverted to a national park and had to pay 10 bucks for traveling through it to get around the traffic mess.
