From the LVRJ: The mother of a man shot by Las Vegas police late Tuesday after he flashed a handgun at officers says her son didn’t deserve to be shot.
“He’s no angel, but he did not deserve this,” Barbara Sprouse said.
Police said her son, 29-year-old Jason Mahe, was shot just before midnight outside a Dotty’s Casino at Rancho and Vegas drives.
Officers were called to the area after Mahe tried to use counterfeit cash at a nearby 7-Eleven, police said.
Mahe, who had a woman with him, left the 7-Eleven and entered Dotty’s as officers arrived.
The officers followed him into the casino and took him into the parking lot, where he pulled out a handgun and refused commands to drop his weapon, police said.
“If my son was escorted out of Dotty’s, the police were close to him,” Sprouse said. “They could have tased him.”
Metro officials believe three officers fired several shots, Capt. Csaba Maczala said Wednesday.....
Sprouse said her son moved to Ohio from Las Vegas to get away from trouble. He was convicted in Las Vegas in a 2003 burglary case and sentenced to more than a year in prison.
Las Vegas police had evidence that Mahe might have wanted officers to shoot him, known as a “suicide by cop.”
Sprouse denied that her son ever had suicidal thoughts.
“He’s never had a ‘suicide by cop’ tendency,” she said. “That’s ridiculous.”

Hey lady, maybe if you did a better job of raising your son, he would have not been shot.

Unless you know the full story of someone's upbringing you shouldn't make assumptions. I have known Jason his whole life and he was raised properly and no matter what we do as parents to raise our children probably they are still their own person and make their own decisions regardless of how they are raised. So unless you were there during his life and saw how he was raised or any one for that matter you have no place to judge!
ReplyDeleteThe full story, this miscreant had a lengthy arrest record before he did 5 years in prison for the 2003 burglary, he proceeded to Ohio where he did 4 years for various violent crimes. Gets out of prison and what happens, he is arrested for kidnapping his exgirlfriend, does 11 months and once again he is released on parole. What does he do next, comes back to Vegas and overstays he vacation and is now in violation of his parole and is a fugitive commiting more crimes in Nevada.
