Is He Lying, Campaigning Or Telling The Truth

So, President Obama says he wants to reduce the troop size in Afghanistan by 30,000 by the end of next year.
From Fox News: In a prime-time address from the East Room of the White House, the president assured the nation that the U.S. military will begin its drawdown next month from a "position of strength" following the death of Usama bin Laden. He described that drawdown as "the beginning, but not the end, of our effort to wind down this war" -- a transition he wants complete by 2014.

"We have put Al Qaeda on a path to defeat, and we will not relent until the job is done," the president said.
As anticipated, the president called for 10,000 troops to be withdrawn by the end of this year. He said the rest of the surge troops, or about 23,000 will be removed by the end of summer in 2012. It is expected that all surge troops will be out of Afghanistan by September next year

So, is Obama lying like most times he opens his mouth? Is he campaigning like he did to close down Gitmo? Or is he telling the truth and everything will happen like he says it will.
Sad to say, no one really knows.

  1. I don't think Obama is lying (outside of commonly accepted "polital" lying, like "he's against same-sex marriage"). In fact, were he lying, he'd be saying "all troops will be out of Afghanistan by 2012."

I'm disappointed in his speech, and with his plan. I think we should leave NOW, or within months, not years or even a half-year. The plan he outlayed was 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 years. WHY? But conservatives and liberals are ALL starting to get on the "get out" bandwagon. If Obama was a craven political creature, he'd go the way the winds are blowing. But he's not. I don't know why, but he's not.

  2. That was "political" lying, by the way. Amazing that I can type for days at my job, flawlessly. But in a comment on the internets, I flub every time.
