All around the country, police, fire and other public agencies are being made to change their radios to a digital system. One reason given is that the switch will free up additional frequencies. That may be legitimate reason, however, for the cops there is a more important reason.
From the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune: There are some things digital radios can do that the current analog radios can't, Wood County Chief Deputy Randy Dorshorst said. The radios offer encrypted channels, so people with scanners can't hear what is being said. This would be a good feature for situations when there is reason to believe a suspect has a police scanner or radio.

This is happening all across the country. In the Las Vegas area, Henderson already has switched over. Metro police are about to do the same.
Have you ever wondered why we don't hear about crimes in Henderson? The police will tell the media what to write and when to write it. How come the police in Henderson release so little information after a major crime? Because they don't have to because they know all the secrets.
When the new police radios come into service, most, if not all police scanners will be obsolete and the public will not know what the police are doing. Unless you have complete trust in the police department, this should be a big concern to you. And how many do you have complete trust in the Las Vegas Metro police? How about the LAPD, NYPD or the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department.
In the new digital world, there are some things that will improve the quality of life and other things, it will damage our quality of life.
So, how many of you are ready for the new secret police?
