As time goes by, President Obama is looking more and more like a 1 term President. Even though he will extort, err, raise close to a billion dollars (perhaps) for his re-election Obama really has no clue how the world works. Obama, Joe Biden and many of Obama's advisers have never worked or lived in the real world. they never punched a time clock, never have poured sweat on the job, and they rely on text books instead of putting place things they have learned while living in the real world.
This real world vs text book war is taking place all across the country, especially with the EPA where they have decided to impose impossible standards on coal producing electric plants which of course will raise electric rates substantially.
From the El Paso Times: An apparent life-and-death battle over environmental regulation is boiling up between Texas and the EPA after the federal agency announced a new air pollution rule last week.
Both sides claim their approach will save lives.
The new rule, called the "Cross-State Air Pollution Rule," caps certain power plant emissions in 28 states, which account for most of the eastern half of the country. It was primarily designed to control pollutants crossing state lines, where the receiving state has no regulatory jurisdiction.
"This is one of the most important rules that the EPA has ever published," said Al Armendariz, the Environmental Protection Agency's Region 6 administrator and an El Paso native. "It will prevent 670 to 1,700 premature deaths in Texas every year starting in 2014."
Nationally, the new rule could prevent as many as 34,000 premature deaths, he said.
But the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has joined with the state's Public Utility Commission to condemn the rule, which was announced late last week. A statement from those agencies claims the rule will result in a "significant" increase in electricity rates as well as potentially shutting down coal-fired plants that cannot afford expensive pollution-control equipment.
"This is expected to have far-reaching consequences on energy consumers, particularly elderly and low-income populations whose health and welfare are dependent on reliable energy without which they would face increased incidences of heat stress, heat stroke and death," the TCEQ statement reads.
It goes on to say the EPA is "creating false crises that frighten the public and misuse public resources." http://www.elpasotimes.com/ci_18498051
The EPA is speaking out their ass when they say reducing pollution will save a certain amount of lives and premature deaths. They get this from a text book- they have no way for certain if this is true or not. they just throw a number against a wall and hope it sticks. The liberals are also great at fear mongering, so the higher the number of deaths, the more support they hope.
But people who live in the real world know this is crap. They do know that their utility bills will rise substantially and for no good reason. They also know that people will be laid off from their jobs, again, for no good reason.
The reason why Obama is unpopular with most people who live in the real world is because we can see through his BS. And in this case, Obama didn't lie about this- he did say that his policies would raise utility rates and that is what Obama is accomplishing.
Worst President Ever.
