So, the media has been saying that it has been relay hot outside. They are doing body counts and running stories on how miserable it is.
So how hot was it. Well, it was so that a whole 36 Cities out of 5,868 broke record high maximum temperatures on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. On the 20th, 75 records were broken, 133 on the 21st and 145 on the 22nd.

Only 4% or less of the reporting stations broke records during the supposed hottest time in the last few decades according to the media.
And only a few, if any records were in the western third of the United States.
Nope, just media exaggeration.
