Computer Geeks Arrested For Hacking

From Fox News: Sixteen suspected members of "Anonymous" were arrested this morning in states including Florida, New Jersey and California, in what appears to be a nationwide takedown of the notorious hacking group, FoxNews.com has exclusively learned.
The arrests and the 30 to 40 search warrants issued by the feds Tuesday are part of an ongoing investigation into Anonymous, which has claimed responsibility for numerous cyberattacks against a variety of websites including Visa and Mastercard.

I don't like hackers because they think they are above the law and they think they can intrude on people's privacy and personal property anytime they like. The hackers are pretty arrogant because they they think they can just go into some one's personal property and cause mischief.
This is no different than some thug from the inner city breaking into your home and going through your personal items and stealing your property.
These hackers need to have the book thrown at them and be sent to prison if they are convicted. Then they can find out what it is like to hang around with real criminals who do the same thing as these hacker thugs have been doing.

update: As our fine commentator said to us several hours before the media reported it, a UNLV student, Mercedes Haefner was arrested as part of this hacker gang.
From the LVRJ: A UNLV student was among 16 people arrested Tuesday in a nationwide roundup of suspected Internet hackers accused of attacking the websites of several major U.S. companies.
According to the FBI, Mercedes Renee Haefer, 20, also known by the aliases "No" and "MMMM," was part of the hacker group Anonymous, which authorities claim coordinated Internet attacks on websites owned by PayPal, Amazon, Visa and Mastercard.
Haefer, a journalism and media studies student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, has been charged in a federal indictment with conspiracy and intentional damage to a protected computer.

  1. There has been one arrest in Las Vegas connected to this case. Mercedes Haefner was arrested this morning by the FBI. She is represented by NY civil rights attorney Stanley L Cohen. As of yet her arrest has not been reported by the media.
