Housing Authority Employee Charged With Child Porn On Government Computer

A Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Housing Authority Director was charged with downloading child pornography on his government computer this past week. Somehow, this story never made it out of Wisconsin Rapids despite the fact that a government employee viewed child porn on a government computer and server.
From the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune: The Wood County District Attorney's Office filed child pornography possession charges Friday against the former executive director of the Wisconsin Rapids Housing Authority.
Jeffrey R. Raasch, 52, Wisconsin Rapids, faces five counts of possession of child pornography. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. State statutes also require someone convicted of the crime to serve a minimum of three years in prison, unless the court finds a lesser sentence is in the best interest of the community and the public will not be harmed...
According to the criminal complaint Wood County Assistant District Attorney Craig Lambert filed Friday, Wood County Sheriff's Department Investigator-Sgt. Dean Berres traced a child pornography download to a computer in Wisconsin Rapids.
Berres used the computer's Internet Protocol address to track the file to the Wisconsin Rapids Housing Authority offices at Huntington House, 2521 10th St. S., according to the criminal complaint. The investigator identified the specific computer as that belonging to Raasch. No one else knew Raasch's login information for his work computer.

To be honest, I don't know if the pervert was a City of Wisconsin Rapids employee or Federal Employee who oversees the Housing Authority. I do know that the Housing Authority administers Section 8 housing, which is a federal program.
But nonetheless, another government employee was caught viewing porn at work, similar to the porn problem at the SEC last year, except this time it involves child pornography.
Obviously, there was little oversight at this public agency. Seriously, how does a government employee down load child porn on a government computer and server without someone knowing about it? It took a local police officer to find the pervert.
From what I can see, this employee thought it was safer to view child porn on a government computer than a computer at home. How sad and pathetic.
