Update: I screwed up. The show, tonight had 1966. Where I got 1963, I have no idea. Damn beers?
Last night, (7-7-11) Pawn Stars was on last night and they had a segment where a man brought in a framed unused ticket from a Beatles concert at Shea Stadium. Inside the picture was also some pictures.
The guy said the ticket was for a 1963 concert the Beatles played at Shea Stadium in New York City. Last night, I was thinking that just didn't seem right, so I did some checking.
It turns out that Shea Stadium didn't open until April 17, 1964 when the New York Mets played the Pittsburgh Pirates.
And the Beatles didn't play Shea until August 15, 1965.
So, was Rick get ripped off by the seller? Or did the show just not do the proper research and threw out a date that was two years off and hope no one noticed.
One of the good points of the show is the history lesson the show provides and the people who work on Pawn Stars, at the store and the editors and writers, do a good job doing their research. So on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being an absolute horrendous error and 1 being a who gives a crap, this mistake is about a 1.75, but it was a bit disappointing that this mistake was made. Hopefully, this is a one time thing and the show hasn't jumped the shark by bringing in fake merchandise.

wrong. It was clearly stated that the ticket was for a concert performed on August 23, 1966.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that is what the ticket said, but verbally, I am almost sure they said 1963, but if I am wrong, I am wrong.
