Pawn Stars Review: July 11, 2011

7/11/11 has to be a lucky number somewhere in Las Vegas. We have undergone rains and floods this week in Las Vegas, kind of spoiling some people's vacations. But surprisingly, even though we have had temps in the upper 90's and low 100's, there is still snow visible on the top Mount Charleston.
This single episode tonight on Pawn Stars is a new one. To be honest, it was tough to pull away from the show "Surprise Homecoming"
The segment showed the the Pawn Stars buying a 1957 Chevy 150 from the American Pickers and took it to Rick Dale and from American Restoration and Danny from Custom Counts to rebuild it for the Old Man's 70th birthday. It was supposed to be done in three days for the birthday party. The car was completely torn down to the frame, with parts all over the place. Tony thought it go for $4000-6000. Rick offered $3000. The seller stuck to $9000.
The first guy brought in a ring pistol. It was a six shooter on a ring from the 1800's. It's called an imperial protector. The guy wanted $9000 for the gun but it was time for an expert because Rick had never seen one. Tony came down to take a look at it. Tony thought it could go for $4000-6000 and he also saw one go for $11,500. Rick offered $3000 while the guy stuck at $9000. Rick then offered $4000 and then 5000 and finally $7000. The guy went down to only $8500 and there was no sale.
The next guy brought in a antique Binnacle which houses a ship's compass from the 1900's to protect the compass during rough seas. The guy wanted $500 and Rick offered $300 and the $400 and finally $425 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in some cartoon cels. There were pictures of Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Fat Albert and they had the original directions on them. The guy wanted $5000 and went down to $3000. Corey didn't offer anything and then offered $1500 and that was the deal.
The next guy brought in an unused Beatles ticket from Shea Stadium from 1963. It turned out that 2400 of these tickets are out there. The guy wanted $700 and Rick offered $175. The selling price was $180.
At the birthday party, they gave the 1957 Chevy to the Old Man and the Old Man loved. The car looked pretty nice and had a powerful engine in it.
So, that wraps this week's show and there is going to be a new show next week. Stay cool this next week and thanks for stopping by.

Update: I was going over another blog post and found out that the Old Man's birthday is actually in March, so this episode was really filmed in March or earlier.

update: I thought the date on the Beatles visit to Shea Stadium was off and in doing some checking, I was proved correct. Shea Stadium actually opened in April of 1964 and the Beatles actually played there in August of 2005.
So, did Rick get ripped off or they blow it on the date when they did the segment?
