Obama Sequestration Hurting The Military

From The Nellis AFB News: MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho  -- Sequestration continues to slow repairs at Mountain Home Air Force Base, forcing maintenance crews to rack partially fixed engines while existing parts stocks dwindle.
With one fighter squadron deployed and another standing down from flying missions, many of the maintenance units are using their time to complete training and team building exercises. The engine test cell continues to keep busy by repairing engines with parts currently in stock.
"Right now we still have work, but with sequestration, there are a lot of parts ordering constraints," said Staff Sgt. James Root, 366th CMS aerospace propulsion journeyman. "We have engines in the back shop that are ready to be fixed, but we can't get the parts to fix them."
It is as important to have a working engine in the jet as it is for aircrew members to remain proficient with systems and tactics knowledge once flying operations resume.
"We can't put an unserviceable engine in a jet," said Root. "When flying, there are a lot of training sorties, so if the engine isn't working correctly, that not only poses a safety risk, but it poses an operational risk as well."
In many ways, a jet engine is similar to the engine found in a car. It could be a potentially fatal and useless piece of equipment if not serviced properly. Timely, complete maintenance repairs also decrease the need for future maintenance, saving money in the long run.

Obama must be loving this as he is spending $100,000,000 to visit Africa.
Spend money for me, not for the other parts of the military.

How Sad

From the Nellis Air Force Base news: The North Nellis Coalition is working towards making the area around the base safer for Airmen to shop and live.
The North Nellis Coalition is an a group made up of members from the 99th Security Forces Squadron , the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and dozens of businesses surrounding Nellis AFB.
"Right now Airmen are driving 10 to 15 minutes away from base to live and shop because they don't feel safe outside the gate," said Brady Warren, 99th SFS criminal intelligence analyst. "The reason for that is because right outside of the gate has one of the highest crime rates in this whole city."
  http://www.nellis.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123353175
It's sad that the base is next door to a ghetto area (I used to live right across from the Base and know it is just plain ghetto)
But Nellis doesn't help it's self when Nellis keeps their property all trashy, like this:

http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2010/01/nellis-afb-please-clean-up-your-trash.html
Maybe if Nellis cleaned up their property, maybe the neighborhood might follow suit and maybe, just maybe, it will become just a little bit less ghetto.

Is The President That Stupid Or Just Pretending?

President Obama or maybe a surrogate wrote a letter to the editor and it appeared in today's Las Vegas Sun.
From Obama's letter:
On Tuesday, I unveiled a new national plan to confront climate change. It’s a plan that will reduce carbon pollution to prevent the worst effects of climate change, prepare our country for the effects we can’t stop, and lead the world in combating the growing threat of a changing climate.
Many Americans who already feel the effects of climate change don’t have time to deny it — they’re busy dealing with it. Firefighters are braving longer wildfire seasons. Farmers are seeing crops wilt one year, and wash away the next. Western families are worried about water that’s drying up. And while we know no single weather event is caused solely by climate change, we also know that in an increasingly warmer world, all weather events are affected by it.
Read more: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jun/30/world-we-leave-our-children/#ixzz2XhaoxyB9
Let's start with this: "Firefighters are braving longer wildfire seasons".  First, the fires are mostly located in isolate areas, with the exception of Colorado Springs in the past few years.  Most of the fires are burning dead wood from beetles or in areas that haven't been burned or many years and these areas built up timber and grasses that should have been burned a long time ago.  This is a totally false argument.
Next: "Farmers are seeing crops wilt one year and washed away the next".  That's again in only a few very areas of the country and guess what, it has been happening for decades and it's nature.
"Western families are worried about water that's drying up".  There are a lot of areas in the West that are desert areas, like most of Nevada.  Yes, some areas have had droughts but in reality, if we were not giving Mexico so much water, we would be doing ok.  The West is almost dry but we still survive.  Why is that?  Because the problem is not as bad as the so called "experts" say it is.
An "warmer increasing world"?
Actually, temperatures have remained steady or have dropped.  This weekend, in Las Vegas, it is very hot, but in reality, it has been a fairly cool year.  All the doomsayers say the temperature will raise, icebergs and polar caps will melt and in reality, it just aint happening.
Of course Obama is blaming the United States, typical liberalism, but what about China, India, Russia and other countries that pollute far more than us, per capita?
So, once again, is Obama that stupid or he has a liberal surrogate write this editorial or is he just pretending?
Are Too Stupid To Understand My Jobs Plan just heard that Obama

Immigration Bill Imitates Blazing Saddles

Here are some things you probably didn't know about the Immigration.
From the Tennessean: Here’s a look at 10 of the more interesting provisions and effects of the immigration bill the Senate passed Thursday on a 68-32 vote.
The final disposition of the legislation is uncertain because the Republican-controlled House plans to consider its own immigration overhaul later this summer....
More Polish visitors. Poland would become a visa-free partner with the United States. That is expected to increase visits by Poles by 10 percent....
Canadian snowbirds would be allowed to stay up to eight months in the U.S. each year, up from the current limit of six months minus one day. ....
Farm workers who document a sufficient work history over the previous two years would be eligible for year-round legal residency under a “blue card” system, whether or not they entered the U.S. illegally....
And finally:
More Irish immigrants. Irish citizens would be eligible for 10,500 new annual work visas under a provision added by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that he calls the Schumer E-3 Irish Visa. The two-year work visa would be renewable for an indefinite period, but it would not provide a path to citizenship. Irish citizens with at least a high-school education or two years of work experience would qualify.

Which reminds me of this clip from Blazing Saddles:

crap, after this clips out, I'll probably be Paula Deened.

The mayor also reminds me of Dean Heller.

Sweet Revenge?

From Obamaville and the Chicago Tribune:
As family struggled to keep a boy from remembering the details of a shooting that claimed the life of his mother and 5-year-old brother Friday, a suspect lay in a hospital bed across the city with several gunshot wounds of his own.
Chavonne Brown and her son Sterling Sims were shot 2:30 a.m. Friday in their apartment in the 5300 block of South Winchester Avenue. The boy's 12-year-old brother witnessed the shooting from his upper bunk bed.
The younger boy was shot in the head in his bed, police said. The boys' mother was also found shot in the head on her bedroom floor....
As the family struggled to come to terms with the slayings, police said the 18-year-old man suspected in the homicides was found bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds Friday night on the West Side.
The man shot Friday night is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. Someone walked up to him in the 2800 block of West Arthington Street in the Lawndale neighborhood about 9:10 p.m. and shot him in the buttocks, neck, leg and groin, police said.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-double-homicide-suspect-shot-chicago-20130629,0,1365661.story
There's really only 3 things to say about this.
1.  RIP to the people killed and prayers to their families and friends.
2.  Good shooting Tex, to whoever shot the thug that killed the two.
3.  The cops in Chicago will be taking their sweet old time trying to find the shooter of the thug, maybe a decade or two?

It's Sooo Hot Outside....

Phew its hot out there
Today, the temperature got up to 115F degrees in Las Vegas but we did not break an all time record for Las Vegas.
But it was hot.  How hot was it???
  • It’s so hot that I saw an Amish guy buying an air conditioner.
  • It’s so hot that I saw a funeral procession pull into a Dairy Queen.
  • It’s so hot that birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
  • It’s so hot that potatoes cook underground – just pull and add salt and butter.
  • It’s so hot that I burn my tongue telling it.
  • It’s so hot that you can say 113 degrees without fainting.
  • It’s so hot that you discover you can drive your car with only 2 fingers.
  • It’s so hot that you break a sweat the instant you step outside – at 6:30am.
  • It’s so hot that sun tea is instant.
  • It's so hot the firemen ran inside burning buildings to cool off.
  •  It's so hot, a pigeon flew away and 10 minutes later, it was plucked, stuffed and roasted when it came down to earth.
  •  It was so hot the Devil vacationed in Alaska.
  •  It was so hot out that Harry Reid got a preview of what will happen to when he dies.

  • Any other suggestions?
And for those laughing at us, when this breaks, guess where it is going- towards the East.  Ha.

Because He Is Weak To Begin With

    Headline from Philly.com:
Susan Rice: Snowden leaks haven't weakened Obama
U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice dismissed claims that Edward Snowden's highly classified leaks have weakened the Obama presidency and damaged U.S. foreign policy, insisting that the United States will remain "the most influential, powerful and important country in the world."

To even have to say this show how weak Obama is.

    Master Chef Contestant Master Racist

    From the Philly.com:
Krissi Biasiello, a contestant on the fourth season of Fox's "MasterChef," has a nasty social media past. The show, hosted by hotheaded chef Gordon Ramsay, features amateur chef's competing for culinary glory.
Some of my spies sent me tweets from Biasiello's account where she says some not so nice things. For example:

    http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/celebrities_gossip/Local-MasterChef-contestants-racist-tweets.html
Having watched the show, it doesn't surprise me.
Just another reason not to have Twitter.
Be interested to see how the show handles this, especially in light of the Paula Deen scandal.
    Gordon Ramsey's take on it?

Windmill Kills Bird Not Seen For 22 Years

You just cannot make these things up:
    From the Daily Mail:
There had been only eight recorded sightings of the white-throated needletail in the UK since 1846. So when one popped up again on British shores this week, twitchers were understandably excited.
A group of 40 enthusiasts dashed to the Hebrides to catch a glimpse of the brown, black and blue bird, which breeds in Asia and winters in Australasia.
But instead of being treated to a wildlife spectacle they were left with a horror show when it flew into a wind turbine and was killed.
John Marchant, 62, who had made the trip all the way from Norfolk, said: ‘We were absolutely over the moon to see the bird. We watched it for nearly two hours.
‘But while we were watching it suddenly got a bit close to the turbine and then the blades hit it.
‘We all rushed up to the turbine, which took about five minutes, hoping the bird had just been knocked out the sky but was okay.
‘Unfortunately it had taken a blow to the head and was stone dead.
‘It was really beautiful when it was flying around, graceful and with such speed. To suddenly see it fly into a turbine and fall out the sky was terrible.’
The last sighting of a white-throated needletail was 22 years ago. A relative of the common swift, it is said to be capable of flying at an astonishing 106mph.

Just another reason why wind energy is not a viable option for electricity.
But how ironic that green energy killed a wild bird that a bunch of green energy supporters witnessed?

American Ninja Warrior In Las Vegas

Spoiler alert, if you don't want to find out what happened, stop reading.
From the Las Vegas Sun: In its four-season history, no one has ever completed all four stages of the "American Ninja Warrior” obstacle course, and producers have no plans to make it any easier for its fifth season, which filmed its finale in Las Vegas last weekend and premieres Monday on NBC.
In fact, they plan to make it harder. Instead of featuring the same course in each city, the show challenges its fifth-season competitors with an entirely new set of obstacles in each regional competition.....
The upcoming season is more than just a tease, however, as Weed hints that the Las Vegas competitors push new boundaries and come closer than ever to conquering the four stages laid out on the course set across from the Luxor, which took three weeks to build, two weeks to light and four days to test before the final round of contestants was unleashed.
    Read more: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jun/29/american-ninja-warrior-vegas-season-5-set-NBC-G4/#ixzz2XbGmNVzb
In reality, no one even came close to even getting to the 4th stage, from a witness who was there.

So, Will "Alternative Energy" Suffice During Big Heat Waves In Nevada?

Senile/Pathetic/Liar/Coward Harry Reid wants to get rid of coal fired electric plants in Nevada and he has cost Nevada 2 other coal fired plants.
Nevada energy will be shutting down it's coal fired electric plant north of Las Vegas because of some wimpy politicians in the State and senile Reid and they will hope that alternative energy will pick up the place of the coal fired plants.
Right now, we are in the middle of a record breaking heat wave and coal fired electric plants are supplying most of our electricity.
What guarantees will we have that Nevada Energy's new policies will provide electric power in the heat waves of the future?
    Anybody?
    Bueller?

There Is Such Thing Of An Ugly Dog

    Coincidence?

In the same week that the BLM gestapo wants to take more wild horses and burros out of Southern Nevada, that the FDA decides to allow a company to slaughter horses.  Coincidence?
From the Pahrump Valley Times: Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service officials sought public comment on major reductions planned for wild horse and burro herds in the Spring Mountains and Johnnie region of Southern Nevada.
The agencies say they could begin roundups as early as next fall as part of a 10-year management plan that is being considered.
More than a dozen area residents turned out for the public meeting at the Bob Ruud Community Center on Tuesday.
The consensus among the attendees was for the most part negative.
Local resident Janice Brown said the plan was simply a bad idea.
She noted that money and no genuine concern for the animals’ welfare was the agencies’ motivation.
“How can you break families apart and justify the non-freedom of these beautiful animals at a profit? The roundups cost the lives of the foals, mares, the babies, and the breaking up of families. It is time to stop. The damage to these horses is enormous. The wild horses have a right and they cannot speak for themselves. Keep the wild horses wild,” she said.
Pahrump resident Frank Incopero was equally adamant about letting the horse and burro population be as they are.
“I have a difficult time believing that any of you really believe what you are talking about, that you think you are doing the right thing. You are not and I think you know it; you are paid to do this and I do understand that it is your job. These horses have been here for thousands of years. They are not sorry. They got water until you cordon off their water. You are taking horses and donkeys away from people that love them. You are making sure that our grandchildren won’t ever get to see these animals and that is your fault. In closing, I have one thing to say: You better hope God isn’t a horse,” he said.  http://pvtimes.com/news/federal-officials-unveil-wild-horse-burro-plan/
    And
A New Mexico meat plant received federal approval on Friday to slaughter horses for meat, a move that drew immediate opposition from animal rights group and will likely be opposed by the White House.
The U.S. Agriculture Department said it was required by law to issue a "grant of inspection" to Valley Meat Co, Roswell, New Mexico, because it had met all federal requirements. Now, the USDA is obliged to assign meat inspectors to the plant.
The USDA also said it may soon issue similar grants for plants in Missouri and Iowa.
Horse meat cannot be sold as food in the United States, but it can be exported. Attempts to reach Valley Meat Co via a number listed online were unsuccessful.
Valley Meat would be the first meat plant to be allowed to slaughter horses since Congress banned it in 2006. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/29/us-usa-agriculture-horse-idUSBRE95S00820130629
For some reason the Gestapo over at the BLM just love killing wild horses, burros and other wild animals and they want to continue their killing ways and now they have a place to send the horses.

    Innocent

The prosecution is flopping and their witnesses are better for the defense.
If anyone still believes George Zimmerman is guilty of shooting the President's wanna be son, Trayvon Martin, they are either fooling themselves or not following the case.

What Part Of NO!!!!!!!! Don't You Understand?

The Clark County Commission wants to know how we feel about raising the gas tax.
    NO
From the LVRJ: Before commissioners vote on fuel tax increases, Clark County residents have a chance to take a stand.
Anyone from everyday citizens to business owners can weigh in on a proposal that allows the County Commission to raise gas taxes by about 3 cents a gallon for each of the next three years.
If approved by commissioners, the new revenue will fund highway improvements. The increases would rise with the rate of inflation, with the maximum tax increase capped at 7.8 percent annually.
The Clark County Department of Business License will accept the feedback via mail and email until 5 p.m. on July 12 for a business impact statement on the measure.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/government/clark-county-seeks-public-input-gas-tax-increase
The Clark County Commissioners are all democrats.  What are the chances of them not raising the tax?

    Funny

    From Bostlnno:
Summer has just begun, but already students from Harvard and MIT have started preparing for the upcoming academic year. Not by stocking up on extra-long twin bed sheets, however, but by heating up the cross-river rivalry the only way the two institutions know how: performing a hack.
MIT’s incoming class hacked the Harvard 2017 website Sunday night by replacing all the pictures with Mitt Romney’s mug, according to a Reddit thread. Here is the screenshot that’s been floating around imgur:....
Another screen grab circulating around the Web shows that users’ messages on the Harvard 2017 page were swapped out to read, “I regret not going to the badass institution down the street.” Or, “Damn, I wish I had as much swag as the MIT kids.”
Kids, be it very smart kids, being kids.

    Say What?

    From the Houston Chronicle:
Kids these days are apparently not content to just sit around swigging from a flask the way their parents did when they were young. From “butt chugging” to “eyeballing vodka,” add a new alcohol consumption trend to the list: smoking alcohol.
According to knowyourmeme.com, this trend actually got its start in 2004 with the introduction of alcohol without liquid devices known as AWOL. The devices “vaporize” alcohol which allows it to be inhaled, rather than drunk. Over 20 states have since banned the devices.
The trend didn’t really gain popularity until earlier this year when a YouTube user uploaded a video clip showing how to vaporize alcohol using a plastic bottle and bicycle pump. Copycats have since uploaded videos of themselves also “smoking alcohol.” Some pour the alcohol over dry ice instead of using the plastic bottle and bicycle pump.
Kids seem to think that by smoking alcohol, you can bypass some negative consequences of consuming alcohol such DUI or your parents catching you and grounding you. (Please note: If you ingest alcohol it will show up in your bloodstream. You can get charged with DUI and your parents are probably going to notice.)
Also, inhaling alcohol is really bad for your health. It’s toxic to the lungs. It goes straight to the brain, meaning you lose the benefit of slow metabolization and if you overdo it, the protective impulse to vomit isn’t going to save you.  http://blog.chron.com/healthzone/2013/06/warning-smoking-alcohol-may-be-hazardous-to-your-health/
Stupid kids, but hey, they are using science to get their high, so they are using some schooling.
Seriously, our parents did stupid things, we did stupid things, our kids will do stupid things and their kids will do stupid things.

Why Some Cops & Medics Deserve Big Money

    From the Houston Chronicle:
An Auburn, Wash., woman accused of doing nothing while maggots gnawed at her elderly mother now faces a felony elder-abuse charge.
King County prosecutors in Seattle claim Sherrie Morton, 46, left her 70-year-old mother to rot at the Southeast 315th Street home they shared. The older woman would most likely have died there, had medics and King County Sheriff’s Office deputies not rescued her earlier this month.
Deputies and medics arrived to find the older woman stuck to her bedding. According to charging papers, a deputy looking into the bedroom window saw maggots crawling in a large open wound on the woman’s leg; the bed sheets were soiled with the byproducts of injury and covered in bugs.
As deputies entered the home, Morton emerged from a rear bedroom. According to charging papers, Morton said she’d been living at the home for 13 years and claimed her mother’s injury was only a few days old.
Paramedics came to a different conclusion: The woman had been injured at least a month before, and the septic, gangrenous wound could have taken her leg.
“The maggots may have helped keep (the woman) alive due to the fact that they were eating the rotting skin that was infected and helping to slow the infection,” King County Sheriff's Det. Marylisa Priebe-Olson said in court papers, recounting a statement from a paramedic.
Firefighters and medics dressed in hazardous-material suits pulled the woman from her home and transported her to Valley Medical Center, where she was in critical condition. Medical staff removed hundreds of maggots from her body in the days following her rescue.  http://www.chron.com/local/article/Police-Maggots-may-have-kept-rotting-Auburn-4624559.php
As a former EMT, I've run across some bad scenes, but not like that.
And this is why I don't complain about the pay about first responders who work in the field.

My Kids May Be In For A Shock

    From the San Fran Chronicle:
    Survey says….28.
TD Ameritrade surveyed Generation Z (ages 14 to 23) about money, college, living with their parents and plans for the future.
When asked at what age they would be embarrassed to still be living at home, the average answer was 28. Almost 90 percent said they would be embarrassed to be living at home at 30, and half said it would be embarrasing at age 25.
The average age at which they expect to be living alone is 21 and 63 percent thought their parents would welcome them back if they couldn’t make it on their own financially.  http://blog.sfgate.com/pender/2013/06/27/how-old-is-too-old-to-be-living-with-your-parents/
I was out of the house by 18 though a friend of mine didn't get out of his house until he was about 30 and that was when he moved into his future wife's home.

Pawn Stars Review: June 26, 2013

Well, nothing t say, but it is extremely hot in Las Vegas this past few days and will be for the weekend.  Today, it got up to about 110 degrees and this weekend, it will get up to about 117 degrees and down in Laughlin, it will get up to 124 degrees.
I talked to an employee at the Gold and Silver shot the other day and said the lines are still there.  If you do go and visit, take it easy and beware of the heat.  O course, if you are a local, you can skip the line and walk right in, with Nevada ID.

The story line is that Corey was really injured with an Achilles tendon injury and is wearing a
In the first episode, the first guy brought in letter by Napoleon Bonaparte.  http://www.biography.com/people/napoleon-9420291
The letter was framed and came with a picture.  The letter was in French.  The guy wanted $10,000 and Corey offered $1500.  The guy went down to $5000 and then $4000 and Corey went to $2000 and that was the selling price.   Rick made Corey go to UNLV to make sure the letter was real.  He met with Greg, a History professor.  He said the letter was from the Battle of  Austerlitz. http://militaryhistory.about.com/od/napoleonicwars/p/austerlitz.htm
It turns out that this letter was a replica/fake and $2000 down the drain.

The next woman brought in Continental currency/coin.  Rick weighed the coin and it weighed too much, so I was fake/replica coin.  No sale.
The next person brought in some police badges from The city of Las Vegas and from the Clark County Sheriff's department from the 1940's.  One was a for a Special Deputy, a badge used by people to get themselves out of trouble.  The other was the police commissioner badge of G.F. Schenck.  The guy wanted $850 and Rick thought they were fake.  Time for an expert, Mark.  He thought the police commissioner badge was real along with the special deputy sheriff's was real.
As an aside, I have to disagree because the Las Vegas Police Department had police chiefs, not police commissioners: http://www.oocities.org/soho/museum/9837/lvchiefs.html  Even Mark said that the badge was done for advertising.
The guy wanted $850 and Rick offered $500 and then $650 and that was the sale price.
The next lady brought in a replica pogo stick of the first pogo stick.  The lady wanted $50 and Corey offered $20 and that was the sale price.  Corey ended up running over and breaking the pogo stick with his truck.
In the second episode, the story line was Rick was taking guitar lessons and he took the lessons from Jesse from Cowtown records.
The first guy brought in a 1st American edition of Jules Verne of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty_Thousand_Leagues_Under_the_Sea
    http://www.online-literature.com/verne/
The guy wanted $10,000.  Time for an expert, Rebecca, from Bauman Rare Books: http://www.baumanrarebooks.com/about-us/locations/las-vegas-nv.aspx   They are located in the Palazzo Casino.
Rebecca said the book was real and rare-50 copies.  She said the book was not in good shape and worth $12,000.  Corey offered $7500 and then $8500.  The guy came down to $9500 and that was the deal.  The guy totally schooled Corey in negotiating.

The next guy brought in an antique cork screw.  It is a large piece because it was made to clamp down on a bar/table: http://www.corkscrewsonline.com/corkscrews_for_sale_catalogue_home.html
Rick had to make sure it works so he brought a bottle of wine from the backroom.  The guy wanted $10,000 and Rick offered $100 and there was no sale.
The next lady brought in a jacket and banner signed from Metellica.  http://www.metallica.com/
The lady wanted $5000 and time for an expert, Steve and said the signatures were real and worth $1500 for each item.  The lady wanted $4000 and Corey offered $1000 and then $1500.  The lady went down to $2000 and Corey went to $1750 and that was the sale.
In the end, Rick was still trying to play the guitar with the other guys trying to help.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you stay cool this next weekend.

    Perhaps It Was For Easter?

In NBA basketball, Noel was traded for a Holiday.  Seriously.

From ESPN: The New Orleans Pelicans traded center Nerlens Noel and a 2014 protected first-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for point guard Jrue Holiday, league sources told ESPN.com:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9431012/2013-nba-draft-nerlens-noel-traded-new-orleans-pelicans-philadelphia-76ers-jrue-holiday

    Dean Heller: RINO, Disgrace

    RINO Dean Heller
So, Dean Heller sold out any conservative that may have voted for him in his last election by voting for amnesty for illegals despite of all the problems illegals have caused Nevadans- with crime, social service spending, ripping off hospitals, ELL spending in schools just to name a few things.
And what did we get in return?  Nothing.  Not a stronger border.  Not keeping criminals out.
You, Mr. Heller are a disgrace and if there is an opponent in your future, guess who I am supporting.

    Whatever Happened To Local Rule?

From the Las Vegas Sun: Kids, your days of blowing off those healthier school lunches and filling up on cookies from the vending machine are numbered. The government is onto you.
For the first time, the Agriculture Department is telling schools what sorts of snacks they can sell. The new restrictions announced Thursday fill a gap in nutrition rules that allowed many students to load up on fat, sugar and salt despite the existing guidelines for healthy meals.
"Parents will no longer have to worry that their kids are using their lunch money to buy junk food and junk drinks at school," said Margo Wootan, a nutrition lobbyist for the Center for Science in the Public Interest who pushed for the new rules.
That doesn't mean schools will be limited to doling out broccoli and brussels sprouts.
Snacks that still make the grade include granola bars, low-fat tortilla chips, fruit cups and 100 percent fruit juice. And high school students can buy diet versions of soda, sports drinks and iced tea.
But say goodbye to some beloved school standbys, such as doughy pretzels, chocolate chip cookies and those little ice cream cups with their own spoons. Some may survive in low-fat or whole wheat versions. The idea is to weed out junk food and replace it with something with nutritional merit.

What the students, especially older students, will do is stop at the local 7-11 or other store before school to get their junk food.  Other students will bring junk into school and sell it.
This is just another attempt of the federal government to put it's big fat nose in places it doesn't need to be.
And Michelle's daughters won't be affected because they go to a private school.
Hopefully, Michelle will choke on a granola bar.  Just kidding... just a carrot.

    My Guess: Oh Crap

    And The Slippery Slope Begins

    From the Washington Times:
Polygamists nationwide are cheering the Supreme Court’s rulings on Wednesday, which paved the way for gay marriage in California and federal recognition for married same-sex couples.
“I was very glad,” polygamist Anne Wilde told Buzzfeed on Wednesday. “The nuclear family, with a dad and a mom and two or three kids, is not the majority anymore. Now it’s grandparents taking care of kids, single parents, gay parents. I think people are more and more understanding that as consenting adults, we should be able to raise a family however we choose.”
Joe Darger, a Utah-based polygamist who has three wives, told Buzzfeed that the court “has taken a step in correcting some inequality, and that’s certainly something that’s going to trickle down and impact us.”
Anita Wagner Illig, head of the group Practical Polyamory, told U.S. News & World Report that the Supreme Court had set a welcome precedent.
“We polyamorists are grateful to our brothers and sisters for blazing the marriage equality trail,” she said. “I would absolutely want to seek multi-partner marriage — it would eliminate a common challenge polyamorists face when two [people] are legally married and others in their group relationships aren’t part of that marriage.”

    Who's going to be next?

    IRS Screws Up Even More

    From the Washington Times:
Democratic Rep. Tammy Duckworth, a veteran of the Iraq conflict and a double amputee, blasted a corporate CEO who contracted with the IRS and claimed a veterans’ disability from a minor injury he suffered during preparatory school.
She unleashed the criticisms during a House hearing on the Internal Revenue Service’s suspicious contracting practices, The Daily Caller reported. Claiming a veterans’ disability gives government workers and those who contract with the government a few extra points with hiring managers.
To Braulio Castillo, the CEO of Strong Castle Inc., Ms. Duckworth of Illinois said: “I’m sorry that twisting your ankle in [prep] school has now come back to hurt you in such a painful way — if not also opportune for you to gain the status for your business as you were trying to compete for contracts.”
Mr. Castillo obtained a disability asterisk next to his name via the VA's Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business program due to a claimed foot injury he suffered at the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School that he went to for a year. He then went on to quarterback the football team at San Diego City College and join the football team at the University of San Diego, a report from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee found.
Ms. Duckworth asked him: “Do you feel that the 30 percent rating that you have for the scars and the pain in your foot is accurate to the sacrifices that you’ve made for this nation?”
He responded, “Yes, ma’am I do.”
    Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/27/rep-tammy-duckworth-double-amputee-slams-irs-worke/#ixzz2XSlkB6db
    Duckworth continued:
Ms. Duckworth then replied: “You know, my right arm was essentially blown off and reattached. I spent a year in limb salvage with over a dozen surgeries over that time period and in fact, we thought we would lose my arm, and I am still in danger of possibly losing my arm. I can’t feel it, I can’t feel my three fingers. My disability rating for that arm is 20 percent.”
Ms. Duckworth then quoted from Mr. Castillo’s application letter for disability, in which he described his disability as “crosses I bear due to my service to our country, and I would do it again to protect this great country,” The Daily Caller reported.
It's a shame that this clown's company was even considered by the IRS to get a $500,000,000 contract because the CEO is nothing more than a crook.
But I guess it is typical of how screwed up the IRS has become.

    IRS Scandal Continues To Grow

    J.Russell George- Treasury's Inspector General
From the Washington Times: The IRS‘ auditor told Congress this week that it stands by its determination that conservative groups were uniquely singled out for special scrutiny by the tax agency, rebutting Democrats’ contention that liberal groups also were targeted.
    The
Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration (TIGTA) sent a letter Wednesday to congressional Democrats telling them that while several liberal groups may have gotten extra scrutiny, the IRS didn’t necessarily target those — but it did do so for conservative groups.
“TIGTA concluded that inappropriate criteria were used to identify potential political cases for extra scrutiny — specifically, the criteria listed in our audit report. From our audit work, we did not find evidence that the criteria you identified, labeled “Progressives,” were used by the
IRS to select potential political cases during the 2010 to 2012 timeframe we audited,” Inspector General J. Russell George said.
He said that while 30 percent of groups that had the word “progressive” in their name were given extra scrutiny, 100 percent of groups with “tea party,” “patriot” or “9/12” in their names were pulled out for strict scrutiny, which involved what the
IRS since has said were invasive and inappropriate questions.....
“While we have multiple sources of information corroborating the use of tea party and other related criteria we described in our report, including employee interviews, e-mails, and other documents, we found no indication in any of these other materials that ‘progressives’ was a term used to refer cases for scrutiny for political campaign intervention,” Mr. George wrote.

It's time for a special prosecutor.

    Crazy Nye County

You just gotta shake your head at human stupidity.
From the Pahrump Valley Times: A man who allegedly tried to pay his pizza delivery driver with marijuana in 2010 was back in court this week after failing to make any court appearances in the case for more than two years.
Darez Levarion Tezeno, 27, appeared in District Court Friday morning to plead guilty to a single felony charge of unlawful use of a controlled substance after he allegedly tried to pay a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver with marijuana in November 2010.
“I’m looking at the police report and on Nov. 27, 2010 the officers were dispatched to Papa John’s pizza reference an individual who wanted trade marijuana for Papa John’s pizza,” Judge Kimberly Wanker said during Tezeno’s arraignment hearing. “Upon arrival they met with two males, one identified as Darez and the other a juvenile. ‘I was advised by dispatch that the driver said it was Darez who offered him marijuana.’ And apparently Darez admitted that he smoked marijuana and to please give him a break and let him go on his way because he was trying to do right by his cousin who had a mobile car wash business.”
“This is pretty comical,” she added after re-reading an arrest report filed after Tezeno was taken into custody. “You can’t make up some of the stupidity people do when they’re under the influence of drugs.”  http://pvtimes.com/news/man-returned-from-louisiana-on-pot-for-pizza-charge/
I don't who is dumber, the guy who tried to pay for the pizza with pot or Nye County for extraditing him back to Nye County to face these charges at a cost of about $1,585?  Wouldn't Nye County rather just keep this idiot of the County and down in Louisiana?
    And this:
A District Court judge sent one man to jail for a year after he reportedly violated the terms of his probation by attempting to leave the state without permission and sending a letter to Parole and Probation that was soaked in cat urine.
Brian Karl Turner appeared in District Court Friday morning after he was reportedly arrested on a probation violation in April for driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance and driving without proper vehicle registration.  http://pvtimes.com/news/probation-revoked-after-man-pens-urine-soaked-letter/
How did they know it was cat pee?  Did Nye County do a DNA test on the letter?  And how stupid do you have to be to send a pee soaked letter?
Just another week in the life of Nye County.

"Hymie Town" Jackson Going To Help Deen

    Posted Image
Pardon the pun, but talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Jesse Jackson, one of the top 10 racists in the United States wants to help Paula Deen overcome her problems by her use of the n-word a million years ago.
What's he going to teacher her?  How to shake down companies while being the biggest racist around, fathering illegitimate kids and being the father of a scam artist?
    This ought to be good.

Now I Know Where The Twinkies Will Be At Wal-Mart

From the San Fran Chronicle: Paula Deen was dropped by Wal-Mart and her name was stripped from four buffet restaurants on Wednesday, hours after she went on television and tearfully defended herself amid the mounting fallout over her admission of using a racial slur.
The story has become both a day-by-day struggle by a successful businesswoman to keep her career afloat and an object lesson on the level of tolerance and forgiveness in society for being caught making an insensitive remark.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Wednesday that it ended its relationship with Deen and will not place "any new orders beyond what's already committed."  http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/television/article/Paula-Deen-dropped-by-Wal-Mart-after-Today-tears-4622824.php
With Hostess needing shelf space, Deen being dropped by Wal-Mart just opened up some shelf space for the Twinkees, Ho Ho's and Suzy Q's.
    Very simple business math.

    This Is A Good Thing

Many in the media thinks it is a somber moment that 500 thugs have been executed in Texas.
In reality, it is a good thing, as 500 thugs will never roam the streets again, the taxpayers don't have to support them and I brings closure to many families.
    From the San Fran Chronicle:
In her final statement, McCarthy did not mention her status as the 500th inmate to be executed or acknowledge Booth or her family.
"This is not a loss. This is a win. You know where I'm going. I'm going home to be with Jesus. Keep the faith. I love you all," she said, while looking toward her witnesses — her attorney, her spiritual adviser and her ex-husband, New Black Panther Party founder Aaron Michaels.
Yeah, well I think I know where you are going and I bet it's not where you think you are going.
    heavenglory

McCarthy, 52, was executed for the 1997 robbery, beating and fatal stabbing of retired college psychology professor Dorothy Booth. Booth had agreed to give McCarthy a cup of sugar before she was attacked with a butcher knife and candelabra at her home in Lancaster, about 15 miles south of Dallas. Authorities say McCarthy cut off Booth's finger to remove her wedding ring.
It was among three slayings linked to McCarthy, a former nursing home therapist who became addicted to crack cocaine.

Mama Said I Would Cause Grandpa To Turn In His Grave

From Fox News: An ancient statue created as an offering to the Egyptian god of death has stumped the Manchester Museum in England after a time-lapse video taken over a week-long period shows the artifact slowly spinning.
The strange occurrence was first noticed by the statue's current caretaker, Campbell Price, who reset the relic back to its original direction after finding it askew, only to discover the statue returned to the wrong direction again the next day.
The 4,000-year-old statue of Neb-Senu was found in a mummy's tomb 80 years ago and has been kept locked in a display case in the museum ever since.
"In Ancient Egypt they believed that if the mummy is destroyed then the statuette can act as an alternative vessel for the spirit," Price, an Egyptologist, told the Manchester Evening News.

PETA Needs To Get A Life

    From the Baltimore Sun:
PETA is calling on a Cockeysville retirement community to let its pet finches spread their wings and leave the cage.
The animal rights organization urged its members to contact management at Broadmead. The group alleges that the birds are being kept in inhumane conditions, but the retirement home says the animals are well cared for and are a highlight for residents.
PETA first raised concerns about the birds a decade ago, said Dan Paden, a senior researcher at PETA. This spring, a resident complained to management at Broadmead and the group got involved again, he said
"The animals are still locked up and displayed like trinkets," Paden said. "We'd like to give these birds a chance to stretch their wings and to live like birds instead of like ornaments."
Broadmead Associate CEO Thomas Mondloch said one resident complained about the finches in recent months, but most enjoy having them. The birds live in the community's nursing home area where many residents are physically or mentally impaired, he said.
The glass box's dimensions are about 5 feet by 3 feet by 5 feet, and it's equipped with "perches and branches and little nests," Mondloch said. Broadmead has kept finches for at least 15 years.

    Car vs Tornado
    From Firehouse.com:
Tornadoes Not Motorist-Friendly, Says Mo. Fire Chief
Vehicles and tornadoes do not mix, Fire Chief Phil Johnston told the City Council during the meeting Monday at the Municipal Center, 200 S. Holden St.
During a discussion about emergency management recommendations, Councilman Baird Brock asked about people getting into their vehicles prior to a tornado. He asked because a Moore, Okla., TV meteorologist told his audience to get into their vehicles and flee an approaching tornado that later caused 24 deaths and widespread damage to Moore. KFOR meteorologist Mike Morgan took heat after the report due to giving unsound safety advice that resulted in traffic jams.  http://www.firehouse.com/news/10977076/tornadoes-not-motorist-friendly-says-warrensburg-mo-fire-chief
I've been through a tornado, an F-1, and it was scary as hell and I was in a heavy Lincoln Town car.
No, it's not a good idea to be a tornado while in a car o truck.
And people need to be told about that?

    This Is News?

You have to hand it to the lefties to overinflate the news.
    From Berkley Side.com:
Authorities closed Allston Way in downtown Berkeley on Monday night for about 45 minutes after a report of a fire in a five-story building across from the popular Cancun Taqueria restaurant.
Berkeley Fire Department Battalion Chief Bill Kehoe said the call about the fire, in a second-floor unit at 2161 Allston, came in at about 5:40 p.m. Kehoe, a ladder truck, four engines and a paramedic unit were dispatched to investigate.
Firefighters found the fire in a pot of oil on the stove — with flames rising 10-12 inches above the rim — in the second-floor unit.
“They extinguished it by placing the lid on it,” Kehoe said Monday evening, outside 2161 Allston. The fire caused damage to a nearby microwave, causing it to melt partially.
There was also some smoke damage inside the unit, and minor damage to a door in another unit in the apartment building where fire crews initially had been told the fire was located.  http://www.berkeleyside.com/2013/06/24/firefighters-use-lid-to-put-out-kitchen-pot-fire-in-berkeley/
Did anyone think of turning off the gas or electric to the stove?
Why didn't the idiot in the apartment put the lid on themselves?
Why is this even a story on Berkley?  Damage: about $10.
As Ann Althouse says: Of all the headlines I have ever read, that one most exemplifies the loss of individual know-how and the instinct for self-defense in the face of dependence on government.

Before Commenting On the Snowden Affair.....

One has to find out what is going to happen in the end.
Will Snowden end up back in the United States?
Will he make it to another country that grants him asylum?
I do know that so far the Obama has been total clueless.
Why didn't the U.S. have spies tailing him from the first moment they knew he may be releasing information via the press?  They should have been in the hotel in Hong Kong, trailed him throughout the city and even on the flight to Russia.
Why didn't the U.S. force Snowden to come back to the United States, including kidnapping him, if he has all this kind of damaging information on him?
The reason why is that Obama is a college professor who went by the book while Snowden and his supporters didn't and Obama got snookered.
Obama still has a chance to redeem himself if he can convince Russia to help him but right now, that doesn't sound likely, unless Russia is playing possum with Snowden.  If Snowden heads to Cuba, Obama ought to send up a squadron of F-16's and escort the jet Snowden is on and make it land in the United States.
So, let's see how this plays out, but one thing is for sure, the Democrats are running scared.  If Obama fails at this, he will look completely weak, a foreign policy failure and this will be part of his legacy- and that scares Obamaites and Obama.

    Back In The USSR

This has to be frightening to liberals.  Oh wait, they sold their soul to the devil, aka, President Obama.
From Fox News: Amid the furor in Washington over government leaks and media exposés, a little-known executive order signed by President Obama in October of 2011 could fuel the paranoia.
It requires government agencies to "implement an insider threat detection and prevention program" -- in effect, ordering all government employees, regardless of security clearances or the sensitivity of their work, to police fellow workers as potential security threats, and report the suspicious behavior to superiors.
Asked Monday about the executive order, as first reported by McClatchy Newspapers, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said: "I confess I didn't see the story. I'll have to take the question."
The edict applies to all government agencies, even those with no involvement in national security matters such as the Peace Corps and the Department of Education.
As an example of the order's broad sweep, a Department of Education security systems webinar describes how, "certain life experiences can alter a person's normal behavior and cause them to act illegally or irresponsibly."
It points to "stress, divorce, untreated mental illness, financial problems, frustrations with co-workers or the organization" as warning signs that must be reported.

Immigration Debacle Similar To ObamaCare: Are You Listening Heller?

    From Sen. Jeff Sessions:
The Gang of Eight and their allies revealed their true tactics tonight. They shut down debate and blocked amendments to a 1,200-page immigration bill that no one has read… This legislation is a crushing blow to the working people of this country, a surrender to illegality, and a capitulation to special interests over the interests of the citizens we pledged to represent.”
WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after tonight’s vote:
“The sponsors of the Corker-Hoeven substitute fell short of the votes they expected tonight to advance what they had erroneously billed to other Senators as a strong border security amendment. Failure to capture the votes they anticipated for this motion demonstrates the building unease this 1,200-page legislative monstrosity has created. I expect that unease will increase as Senators learn more about what’s really inside this proposal.
The Gang of Eight and their allies revealed their true tactics tonight. They shut down debate and blocked amendments to a 1,200-page immigration bill that no one has read. It was anything but the open and fair process that they had promised.
What we know for absolute certain is that this bill guarantees three things: instantaneous amnesty, permanent lawlessness, and a massive expansion in legal immigration that will reduce wages for working Americans. This legislation is a crushing blow to the working people of this country, a surrender to illegality, and a capitulation to special interests over the interests of the citizens we pledged to represent.”   http://www.sessions.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressShop.NewsReleases&ContentRecord_id=789acab8-a06d-4358-4a84-e5980c7dce05&IsPrint=true
    Let's see.
    Bill no one has read.
    Little or no debate.
    Blocked amendments.
    Just like ObamaCare.

If Nevada RINO Sen. Dean Heller votes for this bill, he will be a disgrace to the conservative community in Nevada and he needs the conservative community to win election when he is up for election in a few years.

    Karma

From the New York Daily News: A lesbian couple gave the bigots at the Gay-hating Westboro Baptist Church a taste of their own medicine by tying the knot in an outdoor ceremony across the street from the church.
The Westboro members, who are infamous for staging anti-Gay protests at the funerals of fallen soldiers, were forced to watch as Kimberly Kidwell and Katie Short said “I do” just 50 feet from their front doors in Topeka, Kan.
As for the WBC members, the often obscenely vocal arch nemeses of all things homosexual, they made their presence known with signs bearing vile messages and upside-down American flags, Jackson said. But otherwise they kept their distance and didn't get involved.
"They're not allowed to protest a residential property," Jackson said.
Responding at length to the scene on Twitter instead, WBC called the wedding a "great preaching opportunity," in so many extra words.
"We love all neighbors & tell them truth as they gather…" they wrote while posting a photo showcasing the work they had done in decorating their fenced-in yard with crude signs specifically for the event.

    What's Wrong with This Article?

From the san Fran Chronicle:  Investigators say a Disneyland worker charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl may have had additional victims.
The Orange County District Attorney's office says 45-year-old Bryan William Anast was arraigned Monday and is being held on $1 million bail. He is charged with five felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.
Anast was arrested last week at Disneyland, where he worked as a machinist who helped maintain rides.
The girl told sheriff's officials that Anast had assaulted her on four occasions between 1997 and 2000.

She's 11 years old and the assaults happened between 1997 and 2000?

    Justin Beiber: Thug And Stupid

From the Huffington Post: Add an indoor skydiving facility to the list of places that have banned Justin Bieber.
Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving has confirmed that Bieber is banned for life after he used the facility and then backed out of the payment deal he arranged with the company.
Sources told E! News that Bieber and six others arrived mere minutes before closing, and when the 20-year-old pop star was approached about payment he was apparently given the option of shelling out $1,600 for himself and his crew, or posting a shout-out to the facility and a photo of himself mid-flight to his Instagram account.
Bieber reportedly agreed to post a photo as payment, but the company never got their $1,600 worth of publicity, as an insider told E! that Bieber "actually faked like he was posting something, per the agreement, but never did."
In addition to allegedly not paying up, the group apparently didn't bother to tip the staff either. A source also told the website the group was "a disrespectful bunch," and added that Bieber wasn't very friendly and seemed "very disconnected from reality."
Earlier this year, a club manager in Vienna told the press that Bieber was not welcome at Passage, after the singer's bodyguards allegedly smashed fans' cameras, as well as destroyed the cellphones of other patrons.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/24/justin-bieber-banned-indoor-skydiving_n_3491280.html
I think Bieber is a strong candidate to become a member of the 27 Club, singers who died at age 27.
But then is Bieber a singer?
