Fox News shows a very nice Volvo'e engine being destroyed in the Clunkers for Cash program.

Forget for the moment, that the person getting rid of the Volvo probably could get more money for the Volvo than the $4500 they got. Forget for the moment, that they probably overpaid for their new car, after the dealership pocketed most of the $4500.
But if watch the video, you will notice that the car puts out a lot of smoke (pollution) through the engine, directly into the air. The amount of smoke from the oil being burned along with the fire extinguisher pollution, put out more pollution than if the engine would have been disabled by other means.
So, you have all these cars engines (thousands) being destroyed in the same manner, causing more pollution to go directly into the air. And this program is supposed to helping the environment? I don't think so.

Fox. Why should I go on. After all, they are so authoritarian I mean authoritative.
ReplyDeleteThe cars sold through the program get 9 miles per gallon more than the clunkers turned in on average. per the socialists at Ford -- http://tinyurl.com/n68zou.
Keith, I posted only a video from Fox- no commentary.
ReplyDeleteYes, it may save some fuel, unless, assuming of course, they do not drive more in their new car.
There are ways to disable an engine without causing pollution. For instance, pouring a cement substance in the oil pan, taking the engine apart and destroying the engine physically etc.
But thanks for stopping by, Keith, and I mean that with all seriousness. While I may disagree with you, you are still a good guy and you are not afraid to say what you mean. And you usually don't make condesending remarks as well, unlike other lefties.
