The Abortionist By Michael Caughill

This video will make you think.
Also consider buying the book by Michael and read his blog "From Where I sit"

Frickin Idiot

From Fox News: A Phoenix-area pastor has started to draw protesters to his congregation after he delivered a sermon titled, "Why I Hate Barack Obama," and told his parishioners that he prays for President Obama's death.
Pastor Steven Anderson stood by his sermon in an interview with MyFOXPhoenix, which reports that the pastor continues to encourage his parishioners to join him in praying for the president's death.
"I hope that God strikes Barack Obama with brain cancer so he can die like Ted Kennedy and I hope it happens today," he told MyFOXPhoenix on Sunday. He called his message "spiritual warfare" and said he does not condone killing. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/31/phoenix-pastor-draws-protests-telling-church-prays-obamas-death/?test=latestnews

This "Pastor" is an idiot and me thinks he is doing this more for publicity than anything else. Just like the idiots from Westboro Church.

Too Bad The Brewers Don't Play The Pirates Every Day

The Milwaukee Brewers, my favorite team, just beat the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 21st straight time in Milwaukee. The Brewers' streak is the longest such string in the majors since the Indians beat the Baltimore franchise 27 times in a row at Cleveland Municipal Stadium from 1952-54.... Milwaukee has dominated Pittsburgh recently, going 33-12 no matter where the teams meet in the last three seasons. http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=290830108
Now, if the Brewers could play the Pirates more often, or at least play like they are playing the Pirates, they may have had a better season, instead of the crappy season they are having.

Congrats To CA Little League World Champions

From ESPN: There's a big victory meal upcoming back in Chula Vista.
Bulla Graft's sharp single scored the go-ahead run in the fourth inning and Kiko Garcia pitched three-plus scoreless innings of relief to lead California to a 6-3 victory Sunday over Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei to win the Little League World Series.
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/llws09/news/story?id=4432889
Congratulations to the California team, located near San Diego for being the best Little League in the world. Not much good comes from California, but this team is a good thing.

2 Los Angeles Firefighters Die in Accident

2 Los Angeles firefighters died today due to injuries when their truck rolled down a mountain side. Two Los Angeles County firefighters were killed about 2:30 p.m. when a vehicle went over the side of a road in the Angeles National Forest, south of Acton, near Mount Gleason, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. http://www.dailynews.com/breakingnews/ci_13235121
As a former volunteer fireman who has fought hundreds of fires, I know the dangers of firefighting.
May they Rest in Place.
A Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
Whenever flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life,
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person
From the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
And to give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect his property.
And if, according to my fate,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting
My children and my wife.

Harry Reid Shows Why The Democrat Party Symbol Is An Ass

Harry Reid, the anti-job Senator for Nevadans, shows once again that the the symbol for the Democrat Party, the jackass, is the perfect symbol for Reid as well.
On Wednesday, before he addressed a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Reid joined the chamber's board members for a meet-'n'-greet and a photo. One of the last in line was the Review-Journal's director of advertising, Bob Brown, a hard-working Nevadan who toils every day on behalf of advertisers. He has nothing to do with news coverage or the opinion pages of the Review-Journal.
Yet, as Bob shook hands with our senior U.S. senator in what should have been nothing but a gracious business setting, Reid said: "I hope you go out of business."

So, now Harry wants another Nevada goes out of business. He wants to stifle the freedom of the press by hoping that a large newspaper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, one of the few daily conservative newspapers in the country, goes out of business.
Is it any wonder why Reid-(D-Jackass) is getting trounced in the polls.
And what are the lefty blogs in Las Vegas saying? Que the crickets. Not surprising, since they are a bunch lemmings anyways.

Two Funerals, Two Totally Different People

Today, Saturday, August 29th, there were two funerals. One for Ted Kennedy and one for Frank Ferritta, who was the Station Casino founder in Las vegas.
First, Mr. Feritta. From the Las Vegas Review Journal: Frank Fertitta III called his father’s move to Las Vegas a gamble, coming here on a $100 loan from a friend and knowing only an uncle and cousin living here....The Texas native made Las Vegas his home in 1960 when he began his career as a bellman at the Tropicana. From bellman to dealer and on to general manager of The Fremont Hotel, Fertitta climbed the industry ladder before opening The Casino in 1976, realizing his idea to operate a casino catering to locals....He said his father valued his family, daily attendance of Mass and participation in charitable endeavors. He was president of the Bishop Gorman High School Development Corporation, served on the Foundation Board of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and supported numerous other charities.
Station Casinos owns 18 casinos and employs 10's of thousands of people, in and out of casinos.
Contrast this with Ted Kennedy. He killed a young girl, ran away from her and let her die. His family riches paid off the victim's family and more than likely, the cops and DA.
He was a drunk and a womanizer. He had been accused of sexual harassment for his treatment of women in bars. He paid for an annulment from the Catholic Church. He was very pro-abortion, against the wishes of the Catholic Church. And yes, the Catholic Church is a sell out when it comes to the Kennedys.
Kennedy had money from the time he was born until the day he died. Feritta did not. Feritta employed thousands upon thousands of people. How many people did Kennedy employ? Senate staff and home servants and that's about it.
Feritta hired disabled people. Kennedy kept his mentally disabled sister in an institution in Jefferson, WI.
Kennedy was given his Senate seat. Feritta worked his way up from darn near the bottom to become a very successful business man.
So, on Saturday, there were two funerals. One for a low life, Ted Kennedy, who got national attention and a funeral bought and paid for, which the Catholic Church accepted (and I was raised Catholic) and another for Frank Feritta who was an outstanding man who helped tens of thousands and thousands of people. and did not need to buy off the Catholic Church. Ted Kennedy made the left twist and squirm to support him because of his horrific behavior and there is no evidence that Mr. Feritta compromised his principals.
RIP, Mr. Feritta, you earned the rest in heaven. For Ted Kennedy, may God have pity on your soul. Money and family is not going to help you anymore.

Rick Pitino: Cry Baby

From ESPN: Louisville coach Rick Pitino said Wednesday a sex scandal involving a woman accused of trying to extort millions from him has been "pure hell" for his family, fuming that newly released video of her police interview revived her "total fabrication
Further in the article, Pitino says: "I admitted to you I made a mistake, and believe me I will suffer for that mistake," he added.
Pitino's remarks were his first public statements since a five-minute apology two weeks ago for an "indiscretion" with Sypher at a Louisville restaurant in 2003

Umm, coach, if you would have kept your pants on in 2003, you would not have put your family through hell.
Idiot!

Another Reason Why Unions Suck

In Fond Du Lac Wisconsin, there is an interesting case of union vs management. Mercury Marine is a builder of boat engines. It is a large employer in Fond Du Lac County and has about 800 union members.
On Sunday, the union voted on the managements last and final offer or the Mercury Marine would probably shut down the plant and move the jobs to Stillwater, OK. The union lemmings voted with union leader thugs and they voted down the latest contract offer. The contract offer basically said that new hires and workers brought back from layoff would receive lower wages and the workers who continued to work at the plant would have their wages frozen for 7 years. So, the union voted themselves out of a job.
Now, there are second thoughts by the union members and some want a second vote but it is not that easy. From the Fond Du Lac Reporter: "Mercury Marine’s union is awaiting word from its international headquarters on the legality of voting on a contract a second time.
Dan Longsine, chief negotiator with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) and Aerospace Workers Local 1947, said union officials should receive a directive from their grand lodge by noon Thursday on whether the union can consider voting a second time on Mercury’s “best and final” labor contract proposal.
After that, it would be up to local union chiefs from District 10 in
Milwaukee to decide if a new vote is the right move for its force of union workers."..."He believes that at this point in time, under the union’s bylaws, there would have to be changes made to the contract before union members would be allowed to vote again". http://www.fdlreporter.com/article/20090826/FON0101/90826186/1289&located=WISINFO
So, the union members are having second thoughts about the vote but it seems like the union leader thugs are saying no and their excuse is "union bylaws". If the union thugs really wanted their union lemmings to vote again, they know what will happen- the contract will pass. If the union wanted the vote, it would have happened yesterday, but they don't and about 1000 people in Fond Du Lac County will be unemployed.

More Government Spending Waste and This is a Doozy

The Las Vegas Sun is reporting: The state Transportation Board awarded a $246 million contract to Las Vegas Paving for the first phase of an Interstate 15 widening project but also, in a first, gave $300,000 to each of the three losing bidders.
Our governor, Jim Gibbons makes a good point: Gibbons said the profit may be small for the winning bidder and the company may make less than those who didn’t win the contract. “Ought there be a stipend for the winning bidder?” he asked.
Ok, let me get this straight- a company makes a bid and loses. For their efforts, they get $300,000. Why? When has this happened before? When a bid is put out, there winners and there losers, it is the nature of business. Sometimes a company will invest a lot of money in making a bid and sometimes they lose. So, now the government is in the business of compensating the losers?
I hope the governor and legislators come to their senses and overturn this very stupid idea.
This is like the minimum F I blogged about the other day.

Will the Media Act The same Way When a Conservative Senator Dies?

The media has been falling all over themselves with the dying of Ted Kennedy. The media madness is all over- local, national, conservative or liberal media outlets. Even ESPN had a blurb on it's web site this morning. Rarely did they mention Kennedy running away and letting a girl drown, (maybe a paragraph), his womanizing, his drunken escapades and other scandals? That's all well and good. If it makes the media feel important and good, fine.
Do you think they will act the same way when a conservative senator dies? Orrin Hatch, Jim Inhof, Jon Kyle- will they rate more than a 5 minute story in the national media and a few minutes more in their local media? You know the answer.
How did the media react when Strom Thurmond died? Jesse Helms? They ripped Jesse Helms and he never killed anyone.
Again, the media acts like liberal lap dogs that they are. They have proven once again they cannot be trusted to be fair and balanced. It is like the brothels in Nevada and the media are the paying customers.

Wondering if They Will Be So Understanding If it Was Someone Else

From Fox News: A dog belonging to the CEO of the Richmond, Va., Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals died after accidentally being left alone for four hours in her hot car.
Robin Starr's husband Ed told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that he put the 16-year-old mutt named Louie, who was deaf and blind, into his wife's vehicle on Aug. 19 as she was getting ready for work. Starr often took the dog to the office with her.
But on that day, she arrived at work without realizing Louie was in the car. Several hours later, at about noon, she saw the dog when she went out for lunch.
She took her pet inside to the SPCA clinic and then to an emergency veterinary hospital, where he later died of kidney failure.
The National Weather Service says the temperature had reached 91 degrees by noon that day
. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,543180,00.html?test=latestnews
I can see how this can happen- no communication between family members. However, the next time this happens to the average Joe, will the SPCA be as sympathetic? I doubt it.

Damn, I am Supporting Harry Reid With My Union Dues

On local Las Vegas radio, the NEA has been running advertisements saying how Harry is such a great guy. Harry has been calling in a lot of favors from the unions and other organizations lately. Ads have been running on TV and radio for the past several months, and you know what, they aren't doing him any good. He is losing to 2nd tier canidates by 8-10 points.

So, the NEA is now putting on ads on the radio for Harry and they can't even pronounce the word "Nevada". http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/early-line/2009/aug/26/pro-reid-ad-draws-criticism-over-nevada-pronunciat/ Unfortunately, I belong to the teacher's union and the NEA and my dues pay for the ad. But that mistake won't happen next summer since Nevada is a right to work state and I will drop the union- local and NEA.

This Why I don't Give Money to Hobos

Per Fox News: Ken Johnson, 52, spends up to 16 hours a day, seven days a week, sitting at a Sydney intersection that can net him $400 a day from generous pedestrians, and has brought him a steady income since the late 90s.
Even on slow days the drifter pockets $75 to $100, in Australian dollars.
"I'd be really disappointed if I did a long Friday and I only had $250,'' Johnson told The Telegraph. "I knock off when I feel like it, or if I've done brilliantly. ... The hours are long and monotonous but Johnson's time on the street sitting with his sign has earned him up to $50,000 a year, the equivalent of about $42,000 in U.S. dollars.such a high that you go for a few more hours and get a bit more money.''... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,542505,00.html

My 10 year old son has a fascination with Hobo's. Maybe he's on to something. But I never give to people standing on the street corners. If a person comes up to me and has a credible story, that may change things. If a mother with children comes up to me in a grocery store parking lot and asks for food, I have and will go shopping with them, up to $100 at times. But Hobo's, nah, I don't think so.

BREAKING NEWS: Ted Kennedy Dead

Per Fox News, Ted Kennedy died of brain cancer tonight.
Unlike liberals who have made negative comments when conservatives have died, I will withhold my negative comments.
May his family find comfort after losing Eunice and Ted in a matter of week.

Days At Boulder City and Blue Diamond

Our family went on two outings this past week to see the wildlife around the Las Vegas Valley.
Today, we went to Boulder City, which is southeast of the City and it close to Hoover Dam to watch the Big Horn Sheep. There were about 60 wild sheep in the city park. They come out on a daily basis during daylight hours and head back to the mountains at dusk.

Last week, the family went to Blue Diamond, which is southwest of Las Vegas, by Red Rock Canyon Canyon to visit the wild donkeys. The donkeys are quite friendly, especially if you are holding carrots. Even, if you don't feed them, they will still come up to you and let you put them. It's quite an experience.

Excitng Day: Meet a Star, RollarCoasting and Near Jet Airplane Crash

Well, the day before the school starts, Mrs. Cathy and myself decided to have a day of it in the Vegas area. We weren't particularly hoping for an exciting day, but we sure got it.
Our first stop was at the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, where the TV show, Pawn Stars is filmed. I didn't know what to expect. So we went in and we were shocked about the amount of jewelry in the store. Literally, thousands of pieces of jewelry were in the cases. You name it, it probably was there- rings, necklaces, bracelets etc... Even a Superbowl ring from the 2002 Superbowl, selling for $100,000 and you can't touch it. But other than a couple of big screen TV's a motorcycle and some guitars, they really didn't have much else. We bought a DVD of the first episode of the Charlie Angels movie (not my idea).
And we got to see the "Old Man". He was sitting behind his desk that is scene on TV and he really looks the same on TV as in real life. He was busy, so I didn't say hi, but he is one of the biggest stars I have seen in Las Vegas so far.
We then traveled to Primm, which located about 30 miles south of Las Vegas. After enduring about a 12 mile traffic jam as the Californians headed back to their humble abodes. We stopped at the Terribles CA Lotto shop in Primm to buy some lottery tickets. With a jackpot of $252 million, why not take a chance?
After getting our tickets, were going to eat out, but as luck would have it, the restaurant was closed, so we went to Buffalo's Bills Casino. It is home to one of the world's best roller coaster. It starts with a 225 ft climb followed by the same amount of drop at about 90mph. It barely slows down the rest of the ride as you go flying though steep turn after steep turn, rise and drop. For a review, see here: http://themeparks.about.com/cs/lasvegas/a/desperado.htm and to see a video, see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuOxYvSwG8I We felt weightless after the ride, and that is saying something for me.
All I can say, being a jet fighter pilot is not in my job picture any time soon.
Then after getting back into Vegas, we got some Baskin Robbins ice cream and decided to watch the airplanes land and take off at McCarren Airport. At that time, a storm system went by and the winds picked up and it started to rain. We saw a couple of planes trying to land, go around. Then a Southwest plane came in for a landing. we were watching it come towards, shaking from side to side. When the plane was about 10-20 feet from the ground, the plane powered up and went back up into the sky. For those of us on the ground, it was a very scary sight. I can only imagine what it was like in the passengers cabin. I can only imagine the toilet paper business in the airplane just got busy.
So, what we thought was going to be a nice quiet day before I go back to school turned out to be quite interesting.

School Grading: Minimum F Good or Bad?

Last school year, our high school where I teach implemented a grading policy: Minimum F. Basically, the lowest score a student can get on a test, project, quiz, homework assignment and any other graded assignments, is 50%. So, if a student turns in an assignment that is worth 100 points, and they get a 45, that score is bumped up to 50. If a student refuses to take an exam, their score on the exam score will be 50. If there is a project that is worth 200 points, the student's grade will be 100 if they refuse to do the project.
The rationale is this: A student's overall grade should not be so adversely affected if they bomb out on an exam or big project. In other words, if a student is getting a B overall and they blow a big project or exam, the kid's grade won't drop to a D. And if a kid is getting a D, the big exam they blow might fail the kid. Why penalize a student so harshly if they make a mistake? Further, they argue, if they continue to get the minimum F, the kid is still going to fail the class.
On the other side, and this policy is not accepted by all staff, is that is not how it works in the real world. It is also not fair for the students who did the work. And finally, it is not fair to the kids who actually spent time on the exam or project, got a 50 and the kid who did nothing got a 50.
Does it work? Well, after 1 year, in the 9th grade, the passing rate went from 44% to about 72%. That doesn't mean anything since so many factors can go into the grades. New teachers, different students, other new policies...
For me, as a special education teacher of the very severely disabled, it doesn't matter. If the kid comes to school, tries, they will pass and more than likely, with an A. If I was a regular education teacher, I would have a different feeling.
I feel school should reflect the real world. If worker decided to not to do a project, they won't get an F, they will, in all probability, will be fired. Same should be true for school.

Plaxico Burress Gets 2 Years For What?

Plaxico Burress, a former football player for the New York Giants and now just a moron, will probably spend 2 years in prison for carry a concealed weapon and shooting himself. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4411373
"The former New York Giants wide receiver pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he had faced"
Ok, he was wrong to carry the gun. I don't dispute that. But how many thugs in NYC get two years for carrying a weapon. How many gang members get two years in prison for just about anything, unless they are murderers or have an extensive criminal record.
I am not pro gun, I am not. I am not a NY Giants fan or Burress fan, I am not. But I just think he is getting a raw deal, especially, since he already shot himself in the leg, suffered embarrassment and lost his career.

This Had To Be Painful On Both Sides (And It Ain't Your House

President Obama invited the champions of NASCAR to the White House today. I am pretty sure Obama is not a big NASCAR fan and I am sure, most of the drivers are not Obama fans. But I am glad they went. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=4410300
On another matter, a little over a minute into the video, Obama states: "It's not every day that we have a championship stock car parked out on the South Lawn. Fortunately, we got Jimmie to agree not to do any burnouts and tear up my back yard," Obama said."
Umm, Mr. President, it is not your back yard. You don't own the property. Has any other president claimed the White House as their own?

Damn That U.S. Government Run Health Care- They Discriminate

"lawyers for imprisoned white supremacist Ronald “Joey” Sellers are making another push to get the (federal)government to buy him a liver transplant".... http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/aug/18/lawyers-seek-liver-transplant-aryan-warrior/
So, the federal government is refusing to pay a liver transplant for a thug sentenced to life in prison. Damn that federal government health care system. And for the record, I agree with the feds- you just don't provide liver transplants to prison lifers who are on trial in which the government is seeking the death penalty.

RINO Going to Challenge Titus

Dina Titus D-Pelosi is going to be challenged by John Guedry, RINO, a banker from Southern Nevada. After ripping Rush Limbaugh, he went on to say we need more health care reform. He didn't give specifics. http://www.lvrj.com/news/breaking_news/53587497.html
Yawn.

Amish and Health care

After living in central Wisconsin, I got to know many Amish families and got to know the Amish culture. I also did a research paper while in college about the Amish and special education, one of the first papers on the subject.

The Amish generally disown any government services (except emergency services) and insurance of any kind. They will use public schools for a severely disabled child, but that generally is about it. No welfare, social security, unemployment, food stamps etc.

The Amish also, in most cases, do not pay for health insurance. That doesn't mean they don't get health care, it just means they use it wisely. They have glasses for poor eyesight but don't have braces for their teeth. When I worked at U.W. Hospital while I was going to college, there was a painful case where a small child was in critical condition and on a ventilator and it was iffy if the child would survive. The family choose to take the child off the ventilator because of the cost. They said that while they would have like have liked the chance to save their child, they thought their money could be better spent on future medical needs of their community.
That also doesn't mean the Amish don't pay their bills- they do. If the family can pay it, great. If the family cannot pay, they go to their local community and then they go to Amish communities that are close by. Finally, if the bill is still too large, then make a call out to the Amish nationwide through their newspaper, "The Budget". http://www.thebudgetnewspaper.com/
Through legal cases, the Amish, because of religious reasons, do not pay social security taxes and their kids go to school only through the 8th grade. They also have exemptions for their horse and buggies.
So, now, here comes Obama and the Democrats who insist everyone must have health insurance. So, even though the Amish and related religions, almost 300,000 who live in the U.S., the liberals want to force the government on them. Even though the Amish have paid their bills and have lived their lives responsibly, they are going to be penalized- either through a fine or forced insurance. And in most cases, it will be a fine. And if they refuse to pay the fine or refuse to get insurance, then what? Are they going to throw thousands of Amish in jail for following their religious beliefs?
I have a lot beefs with Obama's and the Democrats health care bill, however, the biggest problem I have is the mandatory health insurance everyone must have. The U.S. government requiring people to purchase a product is wrong and un-American. There is no other product that every U.S. citizen is required to purchase. None. Nada. Zero. So, why health insurance?
The liberals say they look out for the little guy, but in reality, they don't. They say they believe in choice, but in reality, they do not, unless it is abortion.
Until the liberals can state why the Amish have to abandoned their religious principals for mandatory health insurance, I will be forever against Obama and liberals and their health care reform.

A Fashion Statement I Just Don't Understand

On the way to the store tonight, I saw a couple at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Nellis. The lady was dressed normally but the guy was dressed in a nice pair of red pajamas, ready to cross the street.
I am not sure this is a Vegas thing, but when I am at work at Wal Mart, I see at least 5-8 people a night in pajama bottoms and sometimes tops. What is the statement? "Am I too damn lazy to get dressed after I wake up at 6:00 in the evening?"

Come To Vegas For Vacation and Leave on Probation, Part 3453

"Authorities say two Honolulu police officers tried to elude park police but were arrested on marijuana charges during a weekend softball tournament in Las Vegas."
http://www.lvrj.com/news/breaking_news/53511177.html
Not sure if Honolulu's finest brought their own stuff and I am frankly surprised the Park police actually caught the 2 guys, but still these are not brightest cops in the bunch. They were in town and playing in a softball tournament for police and firefighters. Smoking pot around a bunch of cops is not exactly a good career move. And parking illegally kind of puts you in the spotlight.

Someone Who Takes Their Acting Job Too Seriously

"Actor in swine flu ad catches swine flu" http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/08/actor-in-swine-flu-ad-catches-swine-flu.html
"In the advertisement (video below) from the U.K. Department of Health, actor David McCusker first sneezes the "wrong" way in an elevator, spraying mucus everywhere, then sneezes the "right" way -- into a tissue, which he promptly throws away and washes his hands.
The campaign's tagline: "Catch It, Bin It, Kill It."
Except now,
according to the Daily Mail, McCusker has been diagnosed with swine flu. "
Somehow, I just don't Jack Nicholson would have this problem.

Damn That's Fast

Usain Bolt, from Jamaica, ran a 9.58 100 meter dash in Berlin on Saturday. Bolt knocked off .11 seconds off his own world record, which is biggest mark since electronic timing took effect. I can't even put this in perspective, especially being a fan of track and field. Usain Bolt is a human specimen that is just unbelievable and hopefully he will keep breaking records.
The way things are going, I foresee someone running a 8.99 100 meter in my lifetime(hopefully that will be another 40 years or so.)

More Information That Dingy Harry Reid is in Trouble

According to Danny Tarkanian, who is challenging Harry Reid, Tarkanian is beating Reid by 8 percentage points. On the news, they reported it as 50-42%. http://www.ktnv.com/global/story.asp?s=10937258
Now, I am not convinced that this poll is totally accurate. It was commissioned by Tarkanian. However, this poll is in line with other polls that shows that Reid cannot get more than about 42% of the vote, if he is lucky.
Brian Sandoval, a Federal judge from Nevada who just resigned, is probably going to run for governor or U.S. senate. Either way, he wins.
So, how can Harry Reid win? Run on his record- well, he might get 10% of the vote. So, how does he win? ACORN is struggling in Nevada as a couple of staffers are being prosecuted by the Democrat Attorney general for voter registration fraud, so they are under the microscope. So, his best bet is with the Tinky Winky thugs of the SEIU. They may get other union thugs to help Reid, but will it be be enough, especially in a right to work state? I doubt it, especially if his son, Rory, runs for governor.

If the Feds Cannot Run Cash For Clunkers, Why Should We Trust Them With Our Life?

The cash for clunkers program recently developed by the U.S. Congress and the Obama administration has been turning into a nightmare to the providers for the system, mainly, the car dealers.
The car dealers. after selling a new, fuel efficient car after getting a junked car in exchange, are getting screwed by the government. They are supposed to be paid within 10 days. The program has been in effect for about 3 weeks and few car dealers have been paid the amount that is due them. Some have been paid a little and some have not been paid at all. http://www.jsonline.com/newswatch/53229787.html
Now, let's put this into the health care debate. The government promises payment for services in 10 days to the providers. The providers make a good faith effort to treat the patient. The government does not pay in a timely manner. What will the medical providers do.? Some will suck it up. Others will stop doing business with the government and in some cases, those that rely on government payments, may go out of business.
It would be nice if the government can show that it can operate a program as simple as cash for clunkers before they try and run a complex program that will actually have an effect on the lives of people.

RIP Eunice Kennedy Schriver

Eunice Kennedy Schriver, one of the good Kennedy's, died today after a long time illness. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/11/AR2009081100689.html?wprss=rss_nation
Schriver helped found Special Olympics, one of the biggest positive movements for the mentally disabled. Her work with the disabled allowed them to literally come out of the closet and into the community. In 1968, she organized the first Special Olympics competition in Chicago. In 1968, many people who were diagnosed with mental disabilities were either institutionalized or placed in special schools. Special Olympics brought those people with disabilities into the community.
So, RIP, Eunice Kennedy Schriver. Unlike most of the Kennedy's, you did a good job and had a huge positive impact in this country.

Oh Oh, Harry Reid Is In Big Trouble

According the LVRJ, Harry Reid would lose in his re-election bid to Nevada Republican Party chairwoman, Sue Lowden: "The poll by Denver-based Vitale & Associates was conducted July 29-30 and showed that 48 percent of respondents favored Lowden to 42 percent for Reid. Ten percent were undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.4 percentage points"Of course the left will say this is a biased poll but look how the poll was skewed: Of the 510 poll respondents, 44 percent identified themselves as Democrats, 38 percent as Republicans, 15 percent as independent or non-partisan, and 3 percent declined to state an affiliation. http://www.lvrj.com/news/52948952.html
Harry Reid is in big trouble. He no longer represents Nevada, he represents the power of Washington. Reid has personally cost the state thousands of jobs. He is in favor of a high speed train from Vegas to Victorville, which is a hair brained idea. For Wisconsin readers, that is like running a train from Milwaukee to Waukegan. Reid and his cronies have been running positive advertisements in Las Vegas and yet he is still getting beat, badly. In addition, you have his son, who is thinking about running for governor and having 2 Reids on statewide ballots in 2010 would push any sane voter over the edge.
For Reid to win, he will have to call in all of his favors, have ACORN register voters and have the Tinky Winky SEIU thugs stand by at the polls. Is it possible Reid can win, yes, is it likely, no.

This Is Why Solar Power Will Not Work

Today, it was announced that the BLM will be taking comments about a proposed solar power plant near Primm, which is located south of Las Vegas, near the California border. The telling section is this: Three meetings will be held this month to gather comments from the public on plans to build two massive solar power plants on 7,840 acres of federal land near Primm....It would consist of two neighboring solar plants with a combined capacity of 400 megawatts
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/aug/10/blm-seeks-comment-proposed-solar-plants-near-primm/#comments
The story doesn't say anything about cost. It also doesn't say how much money the Feds will put in. I am sure, money is not a big thing for the Obama administration but someone has to pay for it.
First, a 400 megawatt power plant is a drop in the bucket, but anything will help, I suppose. But the big problem is this: building on 7,840 acres is ok in Nevada. Building it in NYC, Chicago, Milwaukee, Los Angeles or other large urban area just isn't practical. This is where the left and especially Obama, fail. They don't realize it it takes space and a lot of space to build these green energy plants. Where are they going to get the land in urban areas? Tear down existing buildings?
A couple months ago, Obama came out to Las Vegas and he toured a solar power plant by Nellis AFB. The plant is about 1 mile by about 1/2 and it only powers the base and not all of it.
Solar power is nice if you put solar panels on your house and just power your house. It is not practical for any big projects.
The liberals act on emotion, they don't think things out.

Badger Cafe & Packer Bar

Cathy and I found out about the Badger Cafe and Rumrunner bar in Las Vegas. It is a bar for people who moved here from Wisconsin. The bar has some pictures of Packer games and Brett Favre's jersey. The Badger Cafe has a Wisconsin Badger pennant in it. The food was pretty good and I never knew you could fry a bratwurst.
At the bar, their draft beer was a couple of Bud beers and 1 Miller beer, not exactly an endorsement of the brews of Wisconsin.
With the football season around the corner, I look forward to going this Packer bar and be with Packer fans.

You Think He can Afford it?

Tiger Woods faces a fine for critizing an official at this week's Bridgestone Invititional golf tournament. Apparently, Woods and his playing partner, Paddrick Harrington were put on the clock for playing slow. Woods, after the tournament, critized the official for putting them on the clock, especially after Harrington had a triple bogey on 17. http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4390168
So, the question is, would a fine even bother Tiger Woods? Isn't that like taking a gallon of water from Lake Mead? Woods is a generally classy guy but fining him won't do anything.

Would You Do This?

Watching Pawn Stars tonight. They had a guy come in with a very old, about 250 year old gun and he traded it for $2500 for store credit. He said he will use it for an engagement ring for his bride to be.
So my question is this: If you knew your hubby to be traded a gun for a engagement ring that was pawned, would you accept it or would you throw it back in his face?

Lock and Load TV Gun Show

I've been watching the TV show, Lock and Load on the History Channel. I honestely respect the star of the show, R. Lee Emery, a Gunnery Sgt. (Honorary) in the Marine Corp. http://www.history.com/video.do?name=LockNLoad
However, the thing I cannot understand how he can act so happy and thrilled about the killing power of the guns he shows off. Many of those guns were used to kill Americans along with other people.
I guess I will never understand this, as I have never owned a gun and only shot a rifle and shot gun off a couple of times.

Boy's it's Hot Outside- In Milwaukee

Well, it doesn't happen too often, but Milwaukee will feel hotter in summer than in Las Vegas. there is a heat advisory for Milwaukee County and the surrounding areas, so stay hydrated and stay in the shade.http://www.weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/53226?phenomena=HT&significance=Y&areaid=WIZ066&office=KMKX&etn=0003
In fact, as I type, it is now hotter in Milwaukee than it is in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, in Vegas, it will be 100 and no humidity- a very beautiful day. It will be a nice day to go driving, either see the Big Horn sheep in Boulder City or the wild donkeys in Blue Diamond. Then take a dip in the pool followed by a cookout.
Ok, no more gloating about the weather until winter.

WI. Governor Lawyer is not a Lawyer

According to Mark Belling, a radio talk show host in Milwaukee and occasional fill in for Rush Limbaugh broke a story today: The chief lawyer of the governor of Wisconsin, Jim Doyle, is not a lawyer in Wisconsin. Never even tried to pass the bar. Only a Democrat can be that stupid. But the liberals will say bleet, bleet, baa, baa and ignore the law and this issue.

Bawk Bawk Dina Titus Refuses to Meet the Public

My Congresscritter, Dina Titus, is on vacation to meet her constituents of her district. So how many town hall meetings has she scheduled? How many meetings with constituents has she scheduled? 1, 2 or 3? Umm, none of the above. She has nothing scheduled. http://www.dinatitus.com/
Pathetic and what a coward, but if you are a former college professor as Titus is, this is not surprising because I have found that college professor's main DNA is being a coward. When confronted with a different opinion other than your own, a college professor tends to hide in the bushs until the confrontation ends.
So, Dina, keep hiding from the the people who are in your district, but we will find you and we will vote you out of office.

More Evidence that Obama is a Communist

From Obama's own web site: There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/
First, is more than a bit scary that the Whitehouse is soliciting people to write to them about personal e-mails that a person may receive. People reporting people to the government over an issue is something the Soviet Union and it's satellite countries did and even NAZI Germany did the same thing. (NO!!! Obama is not Hitler)
Why is Obama afraid of dissent? What will they do when they receive information? What will they do when they get the information? Will they have someone come to their home and try and reeducate them? Give the dissenters tax audits?
The liberals should be scared of this. After all, they are for privacy rights- see how they reacted over the Patriot Act. But of course, since this came from Obama, the left is like a groundhog. It sees it shadow and goes back into hiding, only to come out for another day.

Please Welcome Cathy to our Family

On July 26th, our wedding day went beautifully. Cathy and I got married at the Special Memory Wedding Chapel, with my two kids in attendance. Cathy had her family and friends there. It was a very well done, 10 minute ceremony at the chapel and the reception was held at the M Resort, which has Vegas's best buffet in town. We stayed 3 nights at the resort and were treated quite well. So, welcome to the family, Cathy.

Fox to Charge for Web Sites

Rupert Murdoch want to charge money for people who want to visit his companies web sites. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/7f6edc2c-821f-11de-9c5e-00144feabdc0.html
While I like the Fox News web site, I don't like it enough to pay for it. I can always get my news else where.
Will it work, maybe. I tend to doubt it because the news organizations that do charge something, also have free sites. The WSJ has free sites. The NY Times tried to do the same with their editorial writers, but I think they failed and don't charge now and they also had the free site. There are some local papers I have visited that charge, but the news isn't that great that I will pay and I can always go to another paper that will cover the same story.
So, to Fox News, thanks for the memories but we will go our separate ways, when the time comes.

One Reason Why I Don't Like Las Vegas

When i moved to Las Vegas, I was told the Las Vegas is a transient community. Little did I know how true that is.
In the last several months, since about June, I have had about 10 friends from Wal Mart, CCSD and another 5 neighbors in our apartment complex move out of state. While I will miss the friends that have moved, my kids have lost a lot of friends they play with and that just sucks. Hopefully more kids will move in our apartment complex and fewer people will leave Wal Mart and CCSD.

Packers Intrested in Vick- The WTF Edition

From ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp09/news/story?id=4376513
The Green Bay Packers may be intrested in Michael Vick.
All I can say is NOOOOOO! We don't need any dog killers/haters on the team. And we don't need Micael Vick.
Of course, not mention that he is not in football shape, doesn't have the timing down and is getting older and doesn't fit the offense. Other than that, he would make a fine edition. (sarcasm)

Idiot Cash for Clunkers Program Pollutes

Fox News shows a very nice Volvo'e engine being destroyed in the Clunkers for Cash program.
http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=7765476&maven_referralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/
Forget for the moment, that the person getting rid of the Volvo probably could get more money for the Volvo than the $4500 they got. Forget for the moment, that they probably overpaid for their new car, after the dealership pocketed most of the $4500.
But if watch the video, you will notice that the car puts out a lot of smoke (pollution) through the engine, directly into the air. The amount of smoke from the oil being burned along with the fire extinguisher pollution, put out more pollution than if the engine would have been disabled by other means.
So, you have all these cars engines (thousands) being destroyed in the same manner, causing more pollution to go directly into the air. And this program is supposed to helping the environment? I don't think so.
