For Some Green Bay Packers, It Will Be Their Third Super Bowl

Just about every Packer fan has heard of Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, A.J. Hawk, Clay Matthews, Mike McCartney, Ted Thompson, Dom Capers and Bob Harlan. But who has heard of Bryan Nehring? He is an assistant equipment manager for the Green Bay Packers. (and if you remember, there was a game in the 80's or early 90's where there was a turkey on the field- Bryan was the one who caught the turkey. He can be seen on TV because he is on the sideline and he was even quoted in Sports Illustrated once)) I knew him many years ago as my best friend and Bryan were friends at U.W. La Crosse in Wisconsin. Bryan got a job with the Packers as an unpaid intern for the Packers in the 1980's and then was put on the job full time shortly after graduation. Since then, he has worked at a dream job most non-athletes would kill to have. He has gone on all the road trips, been to all the games, been to 3 Super Bowls, has a closet or two of Packer clothes, has had the Super Bowl trophies at his home and other benefits of being a Packer employee.
Bryan is just one of the numerous employees employed by the Packers who are behind the scenes, many who have been with the Packers numerous years. They are the equipment managers who are at every practice, before the players arrive and leave after the last Packer player has left. they clean up the sidelines, pack the equipment and send it off on the truck to the site of the next game. They make sure everyone has the right uniforms and equipment and if the players don't have the proper equipment, they find a way to get it.
Other employees work in the front office, dealing with security, answering phone calls, dealing with the press, deal with payroll, marketing, information technology and so much more. They need people who make arrangements for hotels, restaurants, practice fields and more when the team travels on the road. This link shows who are some Packer employees and are the people who keep the team going from day to day. http://www.packers.com/team/front-office.html
So, when the Packers take the field and become Super Bowl Champions today, take a moment to think about the people behind the scenes who made this day a reality in their small and specialized way.
