So, Why Am I Not Surprised?

When people said that President Obama was a socialist, the left say, Oh, no way" and that Obama was more center right than left.  Well, Obama said bull crap to that theory in a tape from 1998.
From the Washington Examiner: Romney was referring to a Youtube video of Obama speaking in 1998 at Loyola University. “I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution,” Obama can be heard saying. “I actually believe in redistribution — at least, at a certain level –  to make sure that everyone’s got a shot.”
Obama made another comment to that effect in 2008, when he told a Pennsylvania voter that he wanted to “spread the wealth around,” but he has since disavowed such and denied that he has “some grand scheme to redistribute wealth from one group to another.”  http://washingtonexaminer.com/romney-to-obama-we-should-create-wealth-not-redistribute-wealth/article/2508371#.UFkvGa48VXs
Well, Mitt Romney came back with this: Mitt Romney faulted President Obama for declaring, in 1998, that government should redistribute wealth to some people.
“Those that think government’s job is to redistribute, I’m not going to get them,” he said. “I know some believe that government should take from some to give to the others. I think that the president makes it clear in the tape that was released today that that’s what he believes. I think that’s an entirely foreign concept.”
Obama is a socialist and believes in redistribution of wealth and that is why he is pushing so hard on the tax on millionaires.  The tax on millionaires will do nothing except hurt the budget and do nothing about creating jobs or lowering the debt.  He knows it and most of his intelligent supporters know it.  Just his stupid and jealous supporters don't know it.

  1. The GOP has been for redistribution for decades: give the money to the rich, and it will trickle down! Hasn't worked so well in practice.

This is a fairly transparent attempt for Romney to mitigate the damage from the video that has hit his campaign. A fourteen-year-old video (meaning Obama was in his thirties), versus Romney's months-old opinions in the comfortable environs of his rich buddies. Sorry, doesn't wash for me. Don't think it's going to work, either.

  2. And guess what? The video was edited out of context. Who could have guessed? Much like the "you didn't build that" quote. I still can't believe they based a whole convention on that.
