From the LVRJ: The strange saga of Assemblyman Steven Brooks, who faces a felony charge of threatening Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick, got a bit stranger Wednesday when he made a brief appearance at the Legislative Building.
He did not attend a legislative budget hearing, but did make it clear in a private conversation with legislative staff that he has no plans to resign and will be here for the start of the legislative session on Feb. 4.
Brooks' decision to serve will put him in close proximity to Kirkpatrick in the Assembly chambers.
Brooks, D-Las Vegas, arrived from Reno-Tahoe International Airport in a four-wheel drive vehicle piloted by a member of the Legislative Police, his head covered by a hooded sweatshirt and accompanied by family members. http://www.lvrj.com/news/assemblyman-brooks-on-his-way-to-legislative-building-188086191.html
This bozo has cost the State thousands of dollars already and will continue to do so.
Further, if this guy is such a threat, then how come no Democrat has called for him to resign. I understand the GOP not getting involved yet because this is a Democratic issue for now.
Finally, in a previous post, it was reported by the Las Vegas Sun that the state of Nevada is renting a luxury car for brooks to help him move to Carson for the legislative secession: North Las Vegas Police ultimately caught up with Brooks on Toiyabe Street.
He was driving a 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible that the state had rented for him
to help him move from Las Vegas to Carson City for the legislative session. http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2013/01/nevada-no-money-for-schools-health-care.html
So, if the state is renting a car for him to help move to Carson City, why in the hell is he flying instead of driving?
It seems like Brooks is using his State car as a personal car while living in the Las Vegas Valley while flying to Carson City.
Brooks needs to turn in his car immediately (and every other legislator- they don't need the state to rent a car for them)
It would also be interesting to see if Brooks is deducting mileage from his income tax returns. Hello, IRS- time for an audit.
It's time for this bozo, Brooks to either resign or it's time for the Democrats to call for his resignation. Otherwise, the rip off of the taxpayers will continue.
