Now, Nevada Legislative Cops are Down In Las Vegas

First, how many people knew here in Nevada that we had a legislative police department, whose sole job is to protect legislators while in Carson City, our capitol.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Assemblyman Steven Brooks has been detained by police for a psychiatric evaluation after a disturbance at his grandmother's house, Metro Police reported today.
Officers were called about 1 p.m. to the residence, in the 8400 block of Westcliff Drive, to investigate a family disturbance. They determined an arrest was not warranted, but following comments Brooks made, decided he needed a medical evaluation to determine whether he was a risk to himself or others....
A legislative police officer was with Brooks when he produced the sword. Combs said the officer was providing dignitary protection at Brooks' request.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jan/25/brooks-detained-police-psychiatric/
First, Brooks is not a dignitary, he is a legislator in the Nevada Assembly.
Second, wasn't someone from the Las Vegas constables office supposed to be protecting and also Brooks also had his own bodyguard, according several media outlets.
Finally, why is a Legislative police officer and perhaps more, guarding Brooks in Las Vegas?  Why couldn't a cop from Metro or North Las Vegas be guarding him unless they already said no.
This case is so bizarre and wasting taxpayer money.  If any Democrat asks for a tax increase, the answer ought to be a hell no.  If the State of Nevada has the money to babysitting Brooks and other legislators, then they ought to have money for other causes.
