Special Treatment For Jesse Jackson Jr?

You think your average run of the mill Federal convict would get this kind of treatment from Fed.prosecutors?
From the Chicago Tribune: Casting Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi, as well-paid public officials who stole large amounts of campaign cash out of "greed and entitlement," prosecutors Friday urged that she be sent to prison first, for 18 months, and he next, for four years.
Jackson Jr., 48, a former congressman, and Sandi, 49, a former Chicago alderman, spent about $750,000 in campaign money on extravagances like furs and collectibles and ordinary things like dry cleaning and groceries.....
Yet as his champions highlighted Jackson Jr.'s good deeds representing Chicago's South Side, prosecutors condemned him and his wife in harsh terms. The two Democrats resigned from office leading up to their guilty pleas in February.
Jackson Jr. "chose to steal … despite having advantages in life and financial resources that few possess and that most can only ever dream of obtaining," prosecutors said.
They said he showed a "flagrant disregard for the law" when he decided in 2009 to "double down on his criminal conduct" with new schemes just as he was being interviewed by the FBI because he was embroiled in the scandal involving former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is now imprisoned.
Prosecutors portrayed Jackson Jr. as more culpable than his wife for the crime spree — in which he spent campaign cash on a Rolex watch, a Michael Jackson fedora and two mounted elk heads — but said his wife was not simply a beneficiary.
"Defendant stole. In fact, she stole a lot," they wrote.
His crimes occurred from 2005 to 2012. He began cooperating with investigators last fall, prosecutors said, allowing the government to wrap up the case quickly.
Sandi Jackson filed false returns to the IRS for the tax years 2005 through 2011. Altogether there was more than $600,000 of unreported income, only $15,000 of it lawful money, prosecutors said.
The Jacksons have a home in Washington, D.C., and a lien-free home in Chicago, prosecutors said. The twin residences were among many allusions by prosecutors to a tony lifestyle. In 2011, the couple had an income of $344,556, which prosecutors said put them in the country's top 4 percent.
At peak, he earned $174,000 a year in Congress and she earned about $115,000 a year on the council, with side earnings since she acted as a consultant to his campaign. During the seven-year conspiracy, his wife's consulting firm was paid $340,500 from his campaign — money "separate and apart from the $750,000" that was stolen, prosecutors said.   http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-jesse-jackson-jr-memos-20130608,0,2438709.story
It's not like there is no one available to babysit the couple's kids.  Start with Jesse Sr., but of course, that probably is not a good choice to have another felon watching the kids.
But I am sure there is some people quite qualified to watch them.
