Stupid Congressman Award Of The Week

Congressman Cummings, Titus Without Makeup
From the Baltimore Sun:
Arguing that the congressional investigation into the IRS should be concluded, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings said Sunday that closed-door interviews with the agency's staff show neither the White House nor officials in Washington had a hand in targeting conservative groups for added scrutiny.
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has been conducting interviews for several days with managers in the Internal Revenue Service’s Cincinnati office, which is responsible for reviewing applications for tax exempt status.
Cummings, the top-ranking Democrat on that committee, released snippets of a transcript from an interview with a 21-year manager in that office, a man who describes himself as a "conservative Republican," who said he had no reason to believe the White House was involved in the scandal.

Apparently, though it is widely known, Cummings, like Obama are not very smart men, doesn't realize that even if Obama had no knowledge of the scandal, it doesn't mean laws were not broken, that others in the White House or in Congress or the Congressman's office didn't try and influence the IRS and targeting conservatives.  Heck, even the IRS admitted that part.
The second dumbest Congresscritter is Dina Titus of Nevada who has refused to comment on the IRS scandal.  Apparently, she doesn't want to piss off the IRS for all the money she has stolen in the past few years from the taxpayers of Nevada and then face a criminal investigation, which is warranted.

  1. I keep saying, the real scandal here is that the Tea Party groups (and many, many others on both sides) were GRANTED 501 c4 tax exempt status, after all was said and done. They are political groups, primarily or exclusively. They do not meet the qualifications of the status they've been granted.

Otherwise, there's no scandal here. If you have "party" in your group's name, you rightly should be investigated for being too political for tax exempt status. And what trials did they have to endure? Filling out paperwork? Oh, cry me a river. This is a big, fat, nothingburger.
