Well, Old Man Harry has been pretty quiet this week when temperatures have been downright cold in Las Vegas and throughout most of the country.
From the LVRJ: As Las Vegans weather the cold, temperatures are expected to warm up by Wednesday. After Monday’s high of 39 degrees, the temperature for Wednesday is expected to hover near the 50-degree mark, according to the National Weather Service. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas-should-warm-Wednesday
And the Chicago Sun Times:
It’s going to remain cold. Brutally cold, with wind chills of 8 below zero Wednesday.
But you have to take Chicago cold in stride, according to some who have to work outside in such temperatures....
Of course, that will be far from a concern throughout the Chicago area, where a winter weather advisory was issued for a storm expected to dump two to four inches just in time to potentially snarl your morning rush hour commute.
The National Weather Service advisory is effective midnight Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the heaviest snowfall likely between 5 and 8 a.m....
Temperatures hit an 18-year low of 1 degree below zero overnight Monday — the first time this early in the season since Dec. 9, 1995, and the coldest in the first 10 days of December since Dec. 10, 1978, according to the weather service.
On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to “free-fall” from about 20 degrees in the morning to about 9 degrees in the afternoon, meteorologist Gino Izzi said. With wind chill, it will feel as low as 8 below zero Wednesday. Temperatures will dip below zero Wednesday night, with wind chills then expected as low as 17 below zero. http://www.suntimes.com/24288816-761/brutal-cold-snow-could-snarl-wednesday-morning-commute.html
Mind you, we are only a third of the way through December and it is not officially winter yet.
Pretty soon, they will say we are going through an ice age and blame humans for that as well.
I keep telling you, Dan, global climate change means "wacky weather," not necessarily always "warmer." If you were looking to do a study on wacky weather, you'd have a lot of studying to do. I would call several below-freezing days this early in December in Vegas "wacky." I'm not a climatologist, so I'm unsure if it means anything either way. But it in no way disproves climate change.
ReplyDeleteActually, this isn't that wacky- it is December and that means cold weather.
