Stay Classy, Mr. President
From the New York Daily News:
President Obama was caught committing a funeral faux pas — snapping a selfie during Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and British PM David Cameron.
The threesome smiled as the Scandinavian beauty held her smartphone out to capture the moment but Michelle Obama sat at a distance, as if in disapproval of the digital display.

I would have loved to be the fly on the wall after Michelle and BHO got together, alone, after the funeral.
And yes, the Prime Minister of Denmark acted like, well like a stereotypical blonde who had a crush on Obama and he did nothing to discourage her.
Who the hell goes to a funeral and takes pictures like this and is enjoying it?
And you know this picture will be on all the tabloid magazines throughout the world.
This guy is a total embarrassment to the United States.

C'mon, Dan. Don't let your loathing of the President to take you 'round the bend. Check this out from the same event:
ReplyDeleteThis would be different how? http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1543216.1386694931!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_635/article-bush-1210.jpg
Well, first, Bush was taking a picture with a man and I don't think Laura seemed to mind.
ReplyDeleteSecond, that picture you sent was tame compared to the picture with Obama.
Finally, it looked like the service may have been over- it doesn't look like it was taken during the service.
That's not just a man, it's Bono! And they're smiling at a funeral, just as Obama is (with, let's not forget, TWO prime ministers). Michele looks serious, but I don't think we have any reason to believe it has anything to do with the photo being taken.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading more about this event, I'm even more convinced that you, Right Wing World (and much of the so-called "liberal media") got this one completely wrong. This was about hour two in at least a four-hour program, one that was jovial, and "carnival like" in celebration of Mandela's life. This was not a somber, sober affair. The Prez did absolutely nothing wrong under the circumstances, and could hardly be expected to hold a dour, "serious" expression and demeanor for four hours while those around him are participating in what is actually going on. You may win this one on the perception of a still photo, but not on the facts. By the way, the photographer has stated that Michelle wasn't upset at all, and just happened to be caught with a serious expression.
