Government Ideas For School Fundraising

A South Dakota government is angry because schools are making money by selling pizza, candy and other supposed unhealthy foods.
Well, the government has come out with a list of fund raising possibilities. Seriously, these are some of the Fed's ideas, showing they don't live in the real world:
1. Elephant rides (try finding an elephant in Vegas that gives rides and will come to a school)
2. Mistletoe (nothing like adding to the pregnancy problems)
3. Picnic Baskets (does anyone still use one?)
4. Fresh vegetables (they don't even serve fresh veggies, except in salads, in the school cafeteria)
5. Horseshoe tournament (I didn't know any 80 year olds were in high school)
6. Bingo Night (see above)
7. Giant Game of Musical Chairs (just shaking my head at that one)
8. Spelling Bee (to raise money?)
9. Work shop or classes (yeah, the kids will raise money to go to class)
10. Magazine Subscriptions (maybe before the Internet but not now).
11. Bath accessories and lotions (try having a male student selling that to a female student- they'll have him up on sexual harassment charges in a second)

Clearly, who ever made up this list have no clue how the real world works or what the school environment is like. There is a reason why cookies, candy, ice cream and other fundraisers work. Because this is what the kids and families want and they make good money.

CCSD will be in big trouble if this goes through. What does CCSD serve every day in each middle schools and high schools? Papa Johns pizza. That unhealthy pizza.

This is just another case of the government bureaucrats have no clue how the real world works. What a bunch of first class bozos and morons. Probably a bunch vegans.

update: Thanks for Ordinary Jill for pointing out my mistake on blaming the Fed's- it's a south dakota state agency responsible for the list.

  1. That list didn't come from the federal government at all. It is on the "Healthy South Dakota" website run by the State of South Dakota. That should be obvious from the URL. Here is the page with a welcome message from Republican Governor Mike Rounds:

Do you really think a Democrat would be promoting elephant rides for America's youth?

  2. Yeah, your right, Jill, thanks for pointing that out.
But I didn't mention party affliation. Just some dumb bureaucrats sitting behind a desk somewhere.
And since it was South Dakota, where the hell are they going to get an elephant in the first place?

  3. My point is that I think the elephant ride idea was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

  4. Yep, I know. It would be like the GOP playing donkey basketball, I suppose. Actually, that would be kind of fun.
