From The LVRJ: School employee salaries would be slashed by nearly 8 percent, class sizes would increase and the textbook budget would be reduced by 25 percent as part of a plan to save the Clark County School District nearly $411 million for 2011-12.
Nearly 2,500 staffing positions, including computer support personnel for schools, literacy specialists and support staff, would be eliminated to compensate for declining revenues, according to the latest district analysis released Thursday. The increase in class sizes would allow the district to cut 1,638 teaching positions.
The district plans to increases classes sizes by three students in grades 1-3, by five students in grades 4-5 and by seven students in grades 6-12, if necessary.
The School Board will consider recommendations at its regular meeting Thursday night.

I am a teacher in CCSD and I have seen what has gone on in the past several years in CCSD.
The school board, in conjunction with the school superintendent(s) has done in wasting money throughout the years.
The CSSD school board and superintendents have wasted money and taken money from the Fed's with no regard to the future of CCSD and it's students and employees. I have documented this on several occasions on this blog.
So, if the CCSD wants me to take 8% and pay more in health insurance and pension, then the CCSD school board and superintendent need to show that they have cut the fat out of the CCSD budget. They have not so and so I will oppose any wage reduction and any other give backs until the fat is cut out of the budget.
