El Paso Church Tells Parishioners To Vote Against Obama: Liberals Freak Out

From the El Paso Times:  A local Catholic church appears to have violated IRS rules -- and Catholic doctrine -- by endorsing a presidential candidate in a church bulletin.
St. Raphael Catholic Church on the city's East Side might have violated an Internal Revenue Service rule that prohibits tax-exempt churches from taking sides when it comes to candidates seeking political office in its Aug. 5 bulletin.
"I am asking all of you to go to the polls and be united in replacing our present president with a president that will respect the Catholic Church in this country," the end of the entry in the bulletin says. "Please pass this on to all of your Catholic friends."
The IRS won't comment on individual complaints, but its publication, "Tax Guide for Churches and Religious Organizations," says, "Churches and religious organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office."
The item in St. Raphael's bulletin clearly violates those rules, said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, a Washington, D.C.-based group that argues that separation of church and state protects religion as well as government.
Lynn said the item encouraging parishioners to vote against President Barack Obama was an official communication of the church.  http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_21485415/st-raphael-bulletin-appears-violate-irs-catholic-rules?source=rss_viewed
First, this slimy bastard, Barry Lynn, really isn't a minister except to atheists and he is an extremist liberal but hey, that's why the liberal media go to him for interviews.
Lynn runs a group named Americans United, which of course, is not a true name as they actually try to separate the country.  They have put press releases about churches who promote a candidate and try to have their non-profit status removed by the IRS.  Funny thing is, they only go after conservatives and Catholic churches who endorse Republican candidates.  Only 1 time since 2008 has Lynn ever gone after a church for hosting President Obama but Lynn and his group of rejects have gone conservatives probably about 50 or more times.
Well, how about this from the Blaze: Rev. Jeremiah Wright claims that church wasn’t Barack and Michelle Obama’s “thing,” but in a speech the First Lady delivered to African Methodist Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, she sang a very different tune. From the pulpit, Mrs. Obama told parishioners that there’s “no place better” to talk about political issues than the church.  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/michelle-obama-theres-no-place-better-than-church-to-talk-about-political-issues/  Where is Lynn and his ilk on this matter of Michele Obama?
So a Church says Obama shouldn't be re-elected and liberals like Barry Lynn go nuts but ignore when liberals do the same thing and it looks like the Obama's might be encouraging churches and pastors to politicize the election in their pulpits and in their church.
