The Worst Flooding In Years And Las Vegas Talk Radio Misses It

Today, we had the worst flooding in years in the Las Vegas Valley and how did the talk radio stations handle the flooding?
Other than a little mention in the news, not a hell of a lot.
AM 720 KDWN, which sometimes has a local newscast had nothing except a clueless traffic reporter who had no clue what was going on in the Valley streets.
AM 1100, ESPN just said people should stay home.
but the worst offender is WTDY, AM 840 and FM 100.5.  They have a live show at 3:00 with Kevin Wall and he mentioned nothing about the floods.  Their local news had no clue how bad the flooding was.  This traffic reporter also had no clue how bad it was.
When Wall went on the air, it was a perfect opportunity for us locals to give first hand reports about the flood and there would have been plenty of reports, but instead he chose to ignore the story and talk 9/11.  Talking about 9/11 is fine but when the Valley is undergoing a major natural disaster with people's lives on the line.
I just wonder what would happen if the Las Vegas Valley had a huge disaster, like a terrorist attack or earthquake, how would our radio stations handle the crisis.  Obviously, not too well.

  1. A natural disaster with lives on the line? C'mon man. Just because you geniuses haven't figured out that it's possible to drive without being hyperaggressive, making sudden lane changes, tailgating, and needing to slam on your brakes every 50 yards....

I drove from Green Valey Ranch to the Las Vegas Outlet Center this afternoon, and as a tourist, it was downright *hilarious* trying to figure out how badly people must have been driving to have cars wind up in the positions they were in. I mean seriously, CSI couldn't figure some of those wrecks out even on a 2-hour episode.

  2. Well, you weren't were the worst of the flooding was.
But you do have a point that we do have idiot drivers here.

  3. Las Vegas drivers have NO idea how to drive in rain, but it's even worse if it snows.

As for Kevin Wall? He's really not very good, is he? Kind of reactionary, but his ad libs and train of thought are usually poorly thought out (or not thought out at all).
