Bad Flooding Hits Las Vegas

I just go back home from work, driving in the worst flooding I have ever seen.
I had traveled down Stewart between Nellis and Sandhill and i was a raging river.  Stupidly, i did not get off the road until Sandhill.  The road had water 3 feet high with waves even higher.  Getting off Stewart onto Sandhill, the water was about 4 feet deep for about 2 blocks.
Steward remained flooded until at least Eastern, which is at the bottom of the hill from downtown.
Sahara was also a horrible area.  Sahara was a raging river from Lamb up to past Mohave to the west.
The Sloan Wash, I believe, running close to Sahara was running full and the water was flowing at least 40 or 50 mph.  The power of the flooding racing down the channel was just unbelievable.
The Metro police search and rescue helicopter was flying overhead, waiting to do water rescues.  The radio reported that Clark County Fire did over 20 swift water rescues in an hour and a half, several on Stewart.  At this time, they are still doing rescues.  The City of Las Vegas fire department also did more rescues.
Many roads should have been shut down, but Metro, Clark County Fire and other agencies must have been overwhelmed because I didn't see anyone stopping fools from driving down flooded roads.  But I did see Metro officers filling up their cars and going off shift.
The Channel 8 helicopter showed other roads shut down, especially around Sahara and Sloan and I215 and the Airport Connector.
Numerous cars have died on the roads and intersections because of flooded enginges.
Mannion Jr. High. had flood damage.
Nevada Power reports 6000 people without power.  About 100 cars have the same problem.
In Henderson, on Horizon Ridge, we have had minor land slides with lanes shut down and mud and rocks flooding the road.
The Valley got between 1 and 3 inches, with most parts of the Valley getting close to 2 inches of rain in about 1 hour.
All, I can say is WOW!!
