They Need To Go Back To The Drawing Board

From the Las Vegas Sun: After 33 years as the Imperial Palace, the Las Vegas Strip resort will become the Quad Resort & Casino, Caesars Entertainment announced today.
The Quad will be the gateway to Caesars’ new Linq retail and entertainment district.
As part of the resort’s transformation, improvements will be made in phases to the exterior façade, porte cochere, front desk, bell desk, hotel lobby, casino floor, retail promenade and dining levels. The resort will remain open during construction that will continue through next year.
After December, the property will cease to be known as the Imperial Palace. But a new sign isn’t set to go up until a new facade is completed, near the end of 2013.
“As we renovate and modernize the property, it was only appropriate that we also update the name,” Rick Mazer, the resort’s president, said in a statement.  http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/sep/17/imperial-palace-no-more/
Who came up with the name "Quad Resort and Casino?
For those who went to high school in Las Vegas, the courtyard of the school is named "The Quad", so to locals who graduated from high school, it's not the nicest thought when you think about "Quad".
Then you have people who are quadraplegics, whose nickname is "Quad".  Yep, nothing like thinking about your disability while you visit Las Vegas.
To think that were some people were paid to come up with this name.
Time to try gain.

  1. Rubbish name. IP was definitely in need of a revamp, but it is worrying the direction Las Vegas is heading in. All the themed hotels are being ditched and soon enough everything will end up looking like Aria. Very nice, very modern, but not exactly Vegas. When you think of Vegas, you still think themed resorts - Luxor, Excalibur, NY NY. Stardust? Sahara? Imperial Palace?? It is such a shame.
