From the LVRJ: St. Rose Domincan Hospitals said Friday it will eliminate 100 positions it has among its three hospital along the southern edge of the valley.
Already, half of the positions were empty as people who left were not replaced, according to St. Rose. The other 50 will be dropped from the payroll over the next two weeks.
Most of the job cuts will come from what St. Rose described as administrative and support ranks, including 21 managers.
In a statement, CEO Rod Davis said it was necessary to reduce the payroll as reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies continue to tighten. "This is a reality every hospital and health system in the U.S. is facing and it is a particular challenge for not-for-profit organizations like ours," Davis said in the statement. http://www.lvrj.com/business/st-rose-dominican-to-eliminate-100-positions-at-three-hospitals-185719071.html
With a very bad jobs report, no sign of a recovery, increased taxes on almost everyone- except those on Social Security and those receiving government benefits, no indication that prices for the basics will stabilize, it doesn't look like the Obama economy is going to improve anytime soon.
