From the Chicago Tribune: Two teenagers were shot and seriously wounded this afternoon in the Humboldt
Park neighborhood, among at least 15 people shot since midnight Monday, three of
them fatally, authorities said.
Paramedics were called about 4:30 p.m. to
the 2600 block of West Chicago Avenue for two people who’d been shot, according
to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
They were both taken
in serious to critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County,
said Langford.
Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said the victims,
both males in their teens, were shot in the chest and their conditions had
stabilized at Stroger.
Earlier, a man was shot to death in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue, in
what was believed to be the second homicide of the new year.
What appears to have
been the third homicide of 2013 took place about two hours after the Champlain
killing. About 4:56 p.m. in the Gage Park neighborhood, a man was shot in the
chest in a possible drive-by shooting in the 5800 block of South Sacramento
Avenue, Zala said about 7 p.m. He had no further details to release. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-humboldt-park-shooting-leaves-2-hospitalized-20130101,0,6730065.story
