From the Chicago Tribune:
Bail was set at $250,000 this week for a 15-year-old boy who was charged as an adult after robbing a man at gunpoint last weekend on the Southwest Side, authorities said.
Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesil set bail at $250,000 for Jesus Castaneda on Thursday, according to Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton. Castaneda is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27, she said.
Shortly after midnight last Saturday, Castaneda robbed a man at gunpoint in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.
Castaneda lives about two miles away, in the 4300 block of West 63rd Street.
The victim knew Castaneda by his nickname, "Little Rowdy.” Police, “having several encounters with Little Rowdy,” knew of the boy and picked him up Wednesday afternoon in the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue.
Police said it was his 19th arrest and his second gun-related charge. He was last arrested in August 2012 for unlawful use of a weapon, police said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-boy-15-arrested-19th-time-after-armed-robbery-20130207,0,1937768.story
My guess his family is not too involved in this kid's life, but mom, defense lawyers and many liberals probably thinks he is just a poor misunderstood kid.
