A couple of tidbits about other shows, related to Pawn stars. The Las Vegas Review Journal did an article about a model plane Rick Dale from American Restoration for Nellis Air Force Base, here in Las Vegas: http://www.lvrj.com/news/restored-fighter-jet-replica-to-be-displayed-190646121.html
And if you watch Hardcore Pawn, from Detroit, you know of Seth Gold. He appears on a weekly radio show on Saturdays, Pawn Talk Live Show, which is on from 2-3 and Seth usually comes on around 2:30, Las Vegas time: http://lasvegas.cbslocal.com/pawn-talk-live-show/
In today's first episode, Rick found a couple of 5 gallon pails of pennies and no one knew where they came from. Ooops, they were the Old Man's pennies and he kept them because they were real pennies with copper in them. Apparently, the Old Man has several different hiding places, so Rick wanted the other guys to find the extra buckets of pennies. They found several more buckets in an old truck. Then Rick had some staff rolling the pennies. (of course, they have machines to do the rolling now).
The first guy brought in some jail cell keys that were to Al Capone's jail cell at a county jail in Chicago. Here is some information about Capone from the FBI: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/history/famous-cases/al-capone
The guy got the keys from a former officer at the jail. He had three key for the set. The guy wanted $1500 for the three keys but he had no paperwork for the keys. Rick offered $45 because of the lack of paperwork. No sale.
The next guy brought in a kamikaze pilot helmet. Time for an expert, Mark Hall Patton. It was a winter helmet and it had rabbit fur on it. Mark said the helmet was from the Japanese Army instead of the navy, so it was not a kamikaze helmet. Rick offered $150 for the helmet and the guy wanted $500 and then $300 and the Old Man countered with $250 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a coin from 1861 Confederate half dollar. The coin was found in the shipwrecked ship of the SS Republic. http://www.shipwreck.net/ssrepublic.php
The guy wanted $800 and Rick offered $400 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in 2 NWC Ninetendo Cartridges and they were World Championship cartridges from 1990. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_World_Championships
The guy wanted $35,000. Time for Chumlee to call for expert, Johnny from the Toy Shack. He said the cartridges were real, especially since there was documentation with the cartridges. Johnny said they were worth about $30,000 for both of them. Chumlee offered $15,000 for the two. The guy went to $32,000 and Chumlee said no sale.
In the 2nd episode, the first guy brought in 2006 Longitude II Watch from Arnold and Son: http://www.arnoldandson.com/home.aspx
The guy got it as a wedding gift. Nice way to say thanks. The guy wanted $5000 and Rick offered $2500 and then $3100 and that was the selling price.
The story line of the episode was Chumlee and shoes and Chumlee went looking for some deals on shoes, with Chumlee getting 2% of any deal.
The next guy brought in some antique hand restraints/handcuff collection. There were about 80 different handcuffs and they just looked weird. Some came from the early 1900's on up. The guy wanted $12,500. Time for an expert, Murray Sawchuk. http://murraysawchuck.com/
Murray said the collection was worth about $10,000. The guy came down to $9000 and Corey offered $7500 and the guy went to $8100 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a panoramic photo of the Las Vegas Army Air Base and the base was used to train fighter pilots. The photo looked like it was about 3 feet long. The picture was from World War II. The guy wanted $500 and Corey offered $50. The guy went to $400 and the Old Man offered $100 and the Old Man was getting pissed when dealing with the guy. No sale.
Chumlee to Rick to the ShoeZeum: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/aug/31/shoezeum-2500-pairs-nikes-opens-downtown-neonopoli/
The collection was all Nike and had 2500 pairs of Nike.
The guy wanted $1,000,000. One pair of Nike Waffle shoes, for long distance running, go $1700. I used to wear Nike waffles when I ran cross country and track. Wish I would I would have saved them, except they would have smelled horribly. They also had a Bart Simpson Nike shoe and a few other strange shoes. Rick said it would cost $500 per shoe. Rick offered $300,000. They guy went to $900,000 and then $800,000. Rick offered $500,000 and then $550,000 and there was no sale. Chumlee lost out on the 2% commission.
That's the end of the 2new episodes. Thanks for stopping buy and next week will be two new episodes.
