From the LVRJ: A letter of intent that would eliminate a 24-year-old agreement that governs the operation of Las Vegas’ two daily newspapers was signed last week, causing the publisher and editor of the Las Vegas Sun to renew his legal fight Thursday to keep the document in place.
The four-page letter of intent was attached to a motion filed by attorneys for Brian Greenspun in U.S. District Court who re asking a federal judge for a second time to block the action. Greenspun’s initial request to stop his siblings and Stephens Media Corp., owners of the Las Vegas Review-Journal from ending the two newspapers’ Joint Operating Agreement was denied on Sept. 6 by Judge James Mahan....
Four days later, however, Stephens Media CEO Michael Ferguson president of the Las Vegas Sun and the Greenspun Corp., signed the nonbinding letter of understanding, which would end a joint operating agreement between the two newspapers in exchange for financial considerations to the Greenspun family members and ownership of the lasvegas.com website.
Brian Greenspun sued Stephens Media to block the plan, claiming the Review-Journal’s ownership and his three siblings conspired to end the joint operating agreement that took effect in 1989 and was amended in 2005.

The sad fact is Greenspun, the publisher, only wants the Sun to publish his leftist rants.
The newspaper portion of the Las Vegas Sun is just a repeat of stories that were posted on the Las Vegas Sun web site days early. It doesn't actually have any news stories.
The website, on the other hand is fairly good when it comes to breaking news. Since The Sun has to pay over $2,100,000 to use the web site "lasvegas.com" and only receive $1,200,000 from the LVRJ, financially, the Sun is better off.
But in the end, this is just typical liberalism. The liberal needs a conservative to survive and when the conservative tries to get out of supporting a liberal, the liberal runs crying to the court to protect them.
Maybe if the Sun put out a better product, they may not be in this situation.
