The warning is contained in a report to Gov. Brian Sandoval and the state Legislature from the Nuclear Projects Commission. The report states it is not yet clear whether the Trump administration would support reviving the shuttered program to permanently store 77,000 tons of high-level radioactive waste — primarily spent fuel from commercial power reactors — in a maze of tunnels inside the Nye County mountain. http://m.reviewjournal.com/news/politics-and-government/nevada/congress-likely-seek-funding-yucca-mountain-nuclear-waste
When Senile/Corrupt/Unethical/Liar Harry Reid/Ex-president Obama killed the Yucca Mountain project, putting thousands of people out of work, I said at the time it was a horrible idea for several reasons. Among the reasons was that it was an economic boom for the State of Nevada, Nevada already stored nuclear waste, it is safe and it is safer than storing nuclear fuel at the nuclear power plants.
So, with a new president and a GOP Congress, maybe Yucca may be restarted.
This is a good news for the country as it was bringing revenue to it. I hope the new government will take the issue seriously and work it out to restart the project.
