Update On WI. Fighter Jet Crash

On June 7, 2011, a F-16 crashed in rural Adams County, WI, very close to where I used to teach at and now they have come out with a cause of the crash.
From the Wisconsin State Journal: A U.S. Air Force report says a clogged oil line led to engine failure in a fighter jet that crashed in south-central Wisconsin this summer.
The Wisconsin Air National Guard F-16C Falcon crashed into a vacant Adams County vacation home during air-to-air combat exercises on June 7. The pilot ejected safely before impact.
The Air Force's Air Combat Command released a full investigative report Friday.
The report concluded an oil line feeding an engine gear box was blocked with debris. Investigators found a chunk of Teflon in the line. They also found beads consistent with the type used to sand-blast the gear box during a spring overhaul.
The report noted the plane was worth about $25.7 million.

The Air Force is going to be really upset about this because it sounds like it was a preventable crash. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
