From afar, it seemed like Pat Robertson was off his rocker again, but in retrospect, he's right.
From the San Fran Chronicle: Pat Robertson placed blame for marital strife on women’s appearances this
week, telling a teen who wrote in to Maxim Magazine about his parents’
relationship that it could be the wife’s fault.
The Huffington Post reports that Robertson decided to respond to the teen, who said
his father played too many video games and didn’t pay attention to his mother,
on his show, “700 Club.”
Robertson first said the wife might be too “hard-nosed” to keep the husband’s
interest, then went on to discuss “awful-looking women.”
Robertson told a story about a woman who went to her pastor for marital
advice, Salon.com reports. “She was awful looking. Her hair was all torn
up, she was overweight and looked terrible,” Robertson is quoted as saying.
“And the preacher looked at her and he said, ‘Madam, if I were married to
you, I’d start to drink too.’” Robertson adds that women can keep the spark of
love alive by “fixing themselves up” and “looking pretty.” http://blog.sfgate.com/hottopics/2013/01/15/pat-robertson-blames-marital-woes-on-%e2%80%98awful-looking%e2%80%99-women/
Think about, would a woman be attracted to a man who had a beer belly, unshaved, greasy long hair, walked around in speedos or food stained t-shirts and torn sweat pants? Well, maybe Roseanne Barr and crack and meth heads would but not too many other people.
Same thing like the woman Robertson was describing.
So, I think Robertson is right, but he has the reputation of being a jerk, so he probably will be laughed at.
