Now I Know Why I Don't Go Down To The UNLV Area

I used to live in Madison, WI. when I was much younger and lived downtown by State Street, the big area around the U.W. Madison campus.  I could tolerate it, mainly because of the bars and cheap food.  The loud noises and parties turned me off the area, but I survived.
Today, I went down by the UNLV campus, to the Wing Stop on Maryland and a little south of Flamingo.  Of course, it didn't help that the service sucked.
There was a panhandler in the store, asking not only for money but our food.
There was another boozer sitting a few feet from the car and thought I might engage him in conversation with my kids around.  Sorry guy.
Then you have the potential hood ornaments wearing dark clothing running across the street right in front of our car.
Nah, I'll stick to my quiet neck of the woods.
