More ObamaCare Disaster/Train Wreck: Mass.'s Turn

From the Boston Globe:
Bay State hospitals are pushing for a workaround to the state’s disastrous Obamacare website they claim will make it easier for some patients to be assured that they have health insurance.
The Massachusetts Hospital Association wants state officials to institute “hospital presumptive eligibility” — a system that essentially lets the hospitals immediately determine whether a patient in their care is eligible for MassHealth benefits while the state processes their application.
The MHA claims that will assure the patient is covered, as the state scrambles to enroll them.
“MHA strongly believes that if your office works with us to implement such a system, we can collectively provide relief to thousands of vulnerable patients who are, and will be, caught in an unfortunate situation,” the MHA wrote in a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz.
Tim Gens of the MHA told the Herald the workaround would apply mainly to patients who are new to MassHealth and come into play in situations where a patient might need outpatient services after hospital discharge — like rehabilitation centers, mental-health facilities or medications....
Simmering frustration over the botched Obamacare website finally erupted last week when Beacon Hill lawmakers blasted state health officials and Gov. Deval Patrick in particular for the vast system failures that have left thousands in a maddening state of health care limbo.
State officials still have to manually process 50,000 paper applications from Bay Staters applying for health insurance at two hours per application.
Patrick announced two weeks ago that he was hiring Blue Cross Blue Shield exec Sarah Iselin as a central point person to oversee the Obamacare rescue efforts and that Minnesota-based Optum would attempt to repair the broken website, which was built by CGI.  http://bostonherald.com/business/healthcare/2014/02/hospitals_seek_obamacare_cure
If there were a State that would be ahead with everybody else, Massachusetts would be the one as they have had mandatory health insurance for many years, compliments of Mitt Romney.
And taking 2 hours per application, that will take 100,000 man hours to catch up.  That is the equivalent of 4167 man hour days, at 24 hours a day, or 11 man hour years to catch up.
ObamaCare continues to be a crash and burn train wreck.
