Bad Day For Police Officers

In Pahrump, a Nye County Deputy Sheriff was shot multiple times in a shootout with a thug at the Terrible's Lakeside Casino. the thug was killed. The deputy was airlifted to UMC and has undergone surgery and he is in critical condition. While the officer was wearing a bullet proof vest, it didn't help as the thug was using an SKS rifle. In Wisconsin, a Vilas County Deputy was killed by a drunk driver while the deputy was responding to a call. From The Rhinelander Daily News: According to the Vilas County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Kory E. Dahlvig, 29, was killed when his squad car collided with a dump truck that had pulled onto the roadway in front of him.
The accident happened at approximately 8:38 p.m. Sunday on Highway 47, north of East Boundary Trail.According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Dahlvig was responding to a call to assist Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police when the accident occurred.He was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the dump truck, James Andrew Peontke, 49, of Lac du Flambeau, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He suffered only minor injuries.
