From the Las Vegas Sun: "Nevada teachers — some of whom might soon be forced to take pay cuts or furloughs — should not count on a timely bonus from the fund created by Gov. Jim Gibbons to supplement their pay with voluntary donations.
As of Friday, the Education Gift Certificate program, unveiled during Gibbons’ Feb. 8 State of the State address, had received four contributions for a not-so-grand total of $261." In an understatement: "“It hasn’t been a big seller so far,” state Superintendent Keith Rheault said."

When this idea was floated by Gov. Gibbons, I thought "who would donate to a teacher's salary?"
Well, I guess 4 people did and that is 4 more people than I thought.
When Gibbons floated the idea, he was thinking that teachers would be taking a 10% pay decrease and that is why he floated the idea. But in the real world, people throughout Nevada were either losing money or worse, their jobs, so why would they donate their income to teachers?
Well, we didn't lose any money this year and probably won't this year, unless they institute furlough days, which the teacher's union opposes.
But hey, if you want to donate to a teacher, just send me an e-mail....
