Nevada Liberals Play Game Of Chicken

Some Nevada liberals are threatening Nevada's legislators that if they don't raise taxes, they will take their case to the public and ask the public to raise taxes.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Nevada liberals and labor leaders have quietly begun to warn lawmakers that if the Legislature doesn’t pass a tax increase to preserve state services, they are prepared to take the issue directly to voters.
Gov. Brian Sandoval has
proposed significant cuts to social services, higher education and K-12 schools to balance the budget. Democrats and advocates for those services say the cuts would cause irreparable damage. But these pro-tax forces face an uncertain future in dealing with the state’s $2.2 billion deficit.
“If the Legislature doesn’t have the political will to address the situation, citizens will do it themselves,” said Lynn Warne, president of the
Nevada State Education Association, which represents teachers. She said the union has been in talks with business leaders, labor and other groups about an initiative petition, but that it has yet to develop into a formal proposal.

I only have one thing to say to that:

Hell, I will even sign the petition papers to help get the tax raises on the ballot just to see these liberals proposal go down in flames. Like this:

Being a liberal means you like to be abused. Do they honestly believe that the majority of Nevadans will vote to raise their taxes during a depression so they can give their hard earned money to a huge educational bureaucracy? I wonder what kind of drugs they are smoking.

  1. Not even the Californians voted for a tax increase in 2009.
