Prominent Pot Smoker Dies Of Lung Cancer

Ben Masel is a prominent pot smoker and pot activist who lives in Madison, WI. I have had some debates through newspapers and blogs about pot smoker.
Well, Masel died today of lung cancer. I am sorry that he died, but the fact that he died of lung cancer kind of says that maybe pot smoker.
From the Wisconsin State Journal: Ben Masel, prominent marijuana activist and professional rabble rouser, died Saturday from complications due to lung cancer. He was 56.
Diagnosed in January, Masel had recently made it through 25 radiation treatments for the disease, but was too weak to face chemotherapy. He died just before 9 a.m., surrounded by family at a nearby hospice center.
"He made a point of living at the front lines and fighting for his rights," said Semilla Anderson, Masel's daughter. "He will be remembered for that."
Masel was born in the Bronx and grew up in New Jersey. He moved to Madison in 1971 and quickly became a fixture of the counter-culture, known specifically for acts of civil disobedience in the cause of legalizing pot. http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/article_68fbe4a4-7385-11e0-b755-001cc4c002e0.html

I'm sorry that Masel had to go through the pain of cancer and I wish his family well. But, when it comes to pot and the dangers of smoking pot, he kind of made the point that pot is dangerous and can cause lung cancer, among other problems.

What? Obama Administration Lies?

Hope and Change. Most transparent government in history. Most ethical government promised. Yeah, right.
You know you are in trouble when an extremely liberal San Fransico newspaper calls you out. From the San Fransico Chronicle: In a pants-on-fire moment, the White House press office today denied anyone there had issued threats to remove Carla Marinucci and possibly other Hearst reporters from the press pool covering the President in the Bay Area.
Chronicle editor Ward Bushee called the press office on its fib:
Sadly, we expected the White House to respond in this manner based on our experiences yesterday. It is not a truthful response. It follows a day of off-the-record exchanges with key people in the White House communications office who told us they would remove our reporter, then threatened retaliation to Chronicle and Hearst reporters if we reported on the ban, and then recanted to say our reporter might not be removed after all.
The Chronicle's report is accurate.
If the White House has indeed decided not to ban our reporter, we would like an on-the-record notice that she will remain the San Francisco print pool reporter.
I was on some of those calls and can confirm Ward's statement.
Messy ball now firmly in White House court.

Worst presidential administration in history.

Pathetic Performance By Teachers At Rally

The teachers union in Las Vegas, the CCEA, tried to have a rally and only 500 people showed up and not all were school employees.
From the Las Vegas Sun: About 500 union members marched from Cashman Field to the Grant Sawyer State Office Building on Saturday afternoon while shouting "Save our schools" and "Protect education."
They were led by union organizers who carried a handmade, pine coffin that contained more than 500 letters written to Gov. Brian Sandoval in opposition to his proposed budget cuts to education. Officials planned to deliver the letters to the governor in Carson City.
The march came at the close of a two-hour rally in the Cashman Field parking lot, where state and local Democratic leaders and union activists spoke in opposition to the proposed cuts, which could result in the loss of $400 million from the Clark County School District and an estimated 2,500 jobs.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/30/hundreds-gather-cashman-field-rally-against-educat/
There are about 20,000 employees in the Clark County Schools and 500 is all they can get? Well, not even 500. They also had union members from the SEIU and other unions not affiliated with CCSD or CCEA.
As I reported on this march a couple days ago, this is not about education but about union power. Having only 500 people come out for the rally pretty much shows that the CCEA doesn't have the support of it's teachers or the public.

Here's a hint to the CCEA and CCSD administrators- when you cut out the fat in the CCSD budget, then you will get more support.
If you stop complaining about how things are, when out in the real world, where things are a whole lot tougher in the private sector, people will take you more seriously.
But right now, the public is not taking us teachers, the teachers union and the CCSD administration because they see all the BS that is going on.
Finally, the media has been playing up the rallies of teachers, parents and students and quite frankly, the rallies have been pathetic. Small in numbers and short on substance. That's not how you impress people.

Yucca Not Dead Yet

If you listen to the Main stream Media in Nevada, like The Las Vegas Sun, the LVRJ and the television stations, you would think that Yucca is a dead project.
If you listen to President Obama, Harry Reid and the upper tier politicians in Nevada, you would think Yucca is dead and that there is no support for Yucca Mountain and it's nuclear repository.
Well, you would be wrong. There were two stories in the Pahrump Valley Times, which is located in Nye County, where Yucca is located.

In the first story, it tells about how safe Yucca is. From the PVT: Despite what U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., emphatically said about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository project being dead, U.S. Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, came down from the mountain Tuesday and called it “a national treasure.”
“It’s just a tremendous national asset to let go to waste. I mean $14.5 billion was spent and I heard on the report coming out here we were ahead of everybody and now we’re behind,” he said.
The congressmen couldn’t have a much better tour guide than Bill Boyle, director of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Used Nuclear Fuel Disposition Research and Development. Boyle told the delegation that Sweden and Finland are now on track to become the first to open permanent, nuclear waste repositories.
For Shimkus, it was his second trip to the repository. He plans to invite Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials to testify before his committee Wednesday.
During a briefing with county officials at the Pahrump Valley Museum after the tour late Tuesday afternoon, Shimkus summed up the visit.
“I’ve been a pretty strong supporter in my 15 years of being a member of Congress and I think it’s because of the trip I took 10 years ago, or however long it was. What the trip did today was just reaffirm that commitment. We were given a good tour by some professional, federal employees, DOE staffers who really, really knew their stuff and it just for me gave me faith that we have some of the best minds in the country that have been working for decades on this site,” he said.

http://pvtimes.com/news/congressmen-convinced-facility-is-safe-after-tour/

And in the second article, it tells of the support Yucca has in the counties that surround the mountain: Representatives of six rural counties, including Nye County, voiced support Tuesday for continuing the licensing of Yucca Mountain.
The officials met with three visiting congressmen on the House Energy and Commerce Committee this week.
“Despite what you hear from some of our federal representatives, most of us in Nevada who live closest to this project really see it as an opportunity. They see it as a creation of a Fort Knox, a valuable commodity being placed in that mountain, a real treasure that someday will come out and be reprocessed and benefit all of America,” former Nevada Gov. Bob List said.
List said he’s been involved in the Yucca Mountain project for 15 years, including work for the Nuclear Energy Institute. List reminded congressmen Nevada only has 17 counties and that all of the counties surrounding Yucca Mountain were represented at the briefing at the Pahrump Valley Museum, except White Pine and Eureka counties.
“There’s no one more concerned about the health, safety and welfare of the community than us. I assure you, I would not put my grandkids in danger if I didn’t believe that Yucca Mountain was safe,” Nye County Commission Chairman Gary Hollis said. “The scientists I have on board and the people that have reviewed and went over all the data that the DOE has done, along with our independent science program, I believe that Yucca Mountain can be constructed and operated safely.”

http://pvtimes.com/news/pols-dont-waste-yuccarural-counties-voice-support-for-repository/
This going to be one of Harry Reid's legacies in the senate: job killing. Harry has personally killed more jobs in Nevada than almost any other reason. He has killed power plants, a garbage dump and Yucca- ten's of thousands of jobs all told. Reid has told the unemployed of Nevada- screw you, you are not worth anything to me- you are just my political pawns and if you suffer, too bad.
How many jobs has Harry Reid personally brought to Nevada? 10? Maybe members of his Senate staff? That's it.
Yucca is safe and it provides jobs. And if it is not as safe as it can be, then fix the problem and then complete the project.
Harry Reid, in his dementia, thinks that people are not going to coming to Las Vegas if Yucca opens. That is just plain stupid and ignorant. People still come to Las Vegas even though we had nuclear bombs exploded above ground in Nevada. We have low level radioactive material coming to Nevada already, and people are still coming to Nevada.
There is no valid reason not to open re-open Yucca. Harry Reid is just standing in the doorway of Yucca, just like George Wallace did when he stood in the doorway preventing black kids going to school in Alabama.

Why Not Trump?

The latest political fad is Donald Trump. Both conservatives and liberals despise him, so obviously, he is doing something right.
Trumps was in Las Vegas yesterday and spoke at the Trump Towers. Even though the national media said the Trump Tower in Vegas has a casino in it, it does not.
Let's start with this; The Trump Tower in Las Vegas. It was not built with government funds nor was it built with government union workers. It was built with union workers, like iron and electrical workers and plumbers and a lot more employees. He continues to provide employment for at least a hundred people in Las Vegas.
How many people does Obama employ in Las Vegas. Obama just tells people not to come to Las Vegas and spend their hard earned money.
How many people has Donald Trump employed and continue to employ? How much health insurance do his companies buy?
How many people has Obama employed in his life? (government employees don't count) how much health insurance has Obama paid for from his companies?
Who has more experience in how the world operates? A businessman or an community organizer?
Who would Red China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran listen to better? Obama or Trump?
Who understands the business world better? Who knows customer service better? A community organizer or Trump?
I'm not sold on a Trump candidacy but considering the GOP presidential is really weak so far and Obama is going to be very vulnerable in 2012, so why not Trump?

Steve Martin Coming To Vegas To Play Bluegrass

Steve Martin, the comedian, is also a very good musician, especially when it comes to playing bluegrass and playing the banjo.
He is playing at the Mirage this weekend and for more information, you can read the Katz report here: http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2011/apr/27/moment-steve-martin-where-we-learn-even-bluegrass-/
To show off Martin's musical talent, here is a clip of him playing on the Letterman show with some other great musicians, including Earl Scruggs:

Large Teacher and Thug Union Protest On Saturday

On Saturday, April 30, there will be a large teacher/support staff/administrators and other interested people will hold a large rally for education.
I won't be attending or supporting the rally, even though I belong to the CCEA. Unfortunately, the CCEA has decided to partner with the thug union, SEIU. The SEIU is just a gang of thugs in Las Vegas. They show up in places where they have no business.
In addition, the CCEA has also enlisted the help of other unions. This rally now is not about education but about unions and their power in the state. If the CCEA wanted this to be about education and the children, then they should have limited the unions participating to education unions, parents and children. But instead, they chose to invite a bunch of unions, including thug unions and this will be a public relations disaster for the cause of education.
In addition, the CCEA, CCSD and the other education unions have not gone after the fat in education. If the CCEA and CCSD went after the fat in CCSD and other school districts and eliminated it, then I could offer my support. But the union, administrators and school board just want the fat gravy train to continue to roll on.
The unions are going to throw union members under the bus by conceding to pay cuts, increases in health insurance payments and pension payments all to keep dues paying teachers, whether we need the teacher, administrators and support staff or not. It's all about the money and union dues. It's not about education.
So, the CCEA can hold their rally on Saturday, but all it is about is union power and not education. I think most people in Nevada now realize this and are going to ignore the teachers.
So called teacher unions are not for the children, just union leaders, their lavish life style and their members.
Screw the children.

So What. Obama Releases Birth Certificate, Now Can Actually Do Some Wrok?

Whooppee Dogggy Dooo. President Obama released his birth certificate which is probably a fake anyways. Score 1 for Donald Trump for getting him to release it just before a book was about to be published that would have shown that the Obama wasn't born in the U.S.
Personally, I couldn't care less if he was born in the U.S. It's not going to change the election.
I am more concerned that he acts like a Muslim and attends Christian churches that espouse hate.
I am also more concerned that he has shown contempt to the poor, the unemployed and U.S. taxpayer.
I am more concerned that his supporters are just a bunch of hypocrites and don't hold him accountable. Do his supporters realize that we are still fighting an undeclared war in Libya without the consent of Congress? Where are the large anti-war protests we saw under Bush. Oh, that's right, Bush wars after we were attacked, bad, Obama's war for no particular reason- good. That we have escalated the war in Afghanistan by fighting in Pakistan, again, without permission of Congress?
Do his supporters realize that there is inflation in the U.S.? Inflation when you add in energy and food, is at least 5%. And no, can't blame Bush on this one. While 5% or inflation are not exactly Jimmy Carter numbers, they also are not GW Bush numbers either.
So, Obama can laugh about his birth certificate, but the rest of the nation is not laughing with him. They are laughing at him.
That is what I care about.

Someone's Getting Married Tomorrow

Yeah, some people across the pond are getting married.
Good luck to my friend Tricia and her soon to be new husband who are getting married in Hawaii tomorrow.
Just curious, where do people who live in Las Vegas and are from Hawaii go for a honeymoon?

Take Your Son/Daughter To Work Day

Today is "Take your Daughter/Son To Work Day" and my kids are going to join me and Kathy in the work force today.
First complaint: Why do you have to get up so early?

Heh. Welcome to the real world, kid.

Do you Think The Las Vegas Sun Is Disappointed By Today's Tornadoes?

The pathetic Las Vegas Sun has to be disappointed that today's tornadoes did not go down to Florida and cause death, injuries and destruction.
After all, they want death, injuries and destruction in Florida to prove a political point.

http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/02/how-pathetic-las-vegas-sun-hopes-for.html

Close, but no cigar. Maybe Brian "The Coward" Greenspun, editor of the Las Vegas Sun is jealous of the South because of the tornadoes. Look how much federal aid would come to Las Vegas and Nevada and it would prove a point to Brian Sandoval that he needs to raise taxes and Nevada would need federal aid.
Right, Brian "The Coward" Greenspun?

Yummy Baskin-Robbins Dessert Today

Today, Baskin Robbins ran a special- a junior scoop for 31 cents a scoop. There was a limit of 3 scoops- at the corporate stores.
However, the Baskin-Robbins store on Horizon Ridge and Eastern in Henderson let you have unlimited scoops for you and your family.
After scooping 42 scoops for the family, and who knows how many other scoops he did during the day, the ice cream scooper is ready to be drafted by the Green Bay Packers or any other football team.
Thanks Baskin-Robbins and thanks to the Baskin-Robbins store at the Smith's shopping Center in Henderson. Good ice cream and great service.

Strange Weather Going On

Today and tonight, tornadoes have ripped through the south, killing at least 75 people. And the tornadoes are still continueing tonight. Right now, there are tornado warnings in South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee.
There are severe wearther watches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian border.
In North Dakota, Devils Lake is a large lake in Central North Dakota and it continues to flood. The strange thing is that it has been flooding for years with no relief in sight. Roads and farm fields have been permentally been flooded over. Most of the Central United States have some kind flood warnings or advisories.
Here in Vegas, we have been dry for several months now. The mountains nean Vegas have gotten very little snow since we got an 8ft snow storm early in the winter. However, the mountains have a lot of snow still on them, even though we are entering May soon. We probably will have snow in the mountains into June. in addition, we will be close to 90 tomorrow but with winds of 50 mph, we won't be able to enjoy it.
Texas is burning up but has a frost advisory in the Panhandle tonight.
Right now, only 2 states don't have a warning or advisory right now: Hawaii and Idaho.
This video was shot in Birmingham, AL, to day, April 27, 2011.

Strange weather indeed.

No More Looking For E.T.

From Fox News: In the mountains of Northern California, a field of radio dishes that look like giant dinner plates waited for years for the first call from intelligent life among the stars.
But they're not listening anymore.
Cash-strapped governments, it seems, can no longer pay the interstellar phone bill.
Astronomers at the
SETI Institute said a steep drop in state and federal funds has forced the shutdown of the Allen Telescope Array, a powerful tool in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, an effort scientists refer to as SETI.
"There's plenty of cosmic real estate that looks promising," Seth Shostak, senior
astronomer at the institute, said Tuesday. "We've lost the instrument that's best for zeroing in on these better targets."

The shutdown came just as researchers were preparing to point the radio dishes at a batch of new planets.
About 50 or 60 of those planets appear to be about the right distance from stars to have temperatures that could make them habitable,
Shostak said.
The 42 radio dishes had scanned deep space since 2007 for signals from alien civilizations while also conducting research into the structure and origin of the universe.
SETI Institute chief executive Tom Pierson said in an email to donors last week that the University of California, Berkeley, has run out of money for day-to-day operation of the dishes.
"Unfortunately, today's government budgetary
environment is very difficult, and new solutions must be found," Pierson wrote. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/04/27/shrinking-funds-pull-plug-alien-search-devices/

If the United States government can conduct or give money to drunk, blind, one armed Chinese bi-sexual prostitutes or study the mating habits of the 1 eyed sloth that are vegans or pay for Harry Reid's 3 SUV entourage when traveling through Las Vegas to go shopping or out to eat, I think the government can afford to try and find E.T.

This Is Just Scary

I have never seen an outbreak like we have been seeing in my life, or least that I can remember. I am sure there will be those blaming global warming/climate change on these outbreaks. But just remember, to have a tornado, you need a cold front and a warm front collide along with other conditions.
Maybe the end of the world is near. Earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, Obama releasing his birth certificate can mean the end is near.

Seriously, please pray for those who are near the tornadoes and help those in need. Please be safe.

Heller New U.S. Senator, Democrats Cry In Their Beer

In the worst held secret in Nevada, Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed Dean Heller to replace John Ensign as Nevada's Junior (in years, not intelligence)U.S. Senator. The appointment begins next week and Heller will have to run for re-election in 2012.
Of course, the Dem's called for Ensign to resign with their fingers crossed behind their backs. They had hoped that this would be an election year issue. Harry Reid is still trying to make an election year issue by saying that the Senate Ethics Committee (talk about an oxymoron) still has an obligation to further conduct the ethics complaint. From the LVRJ: Sen. Harry Reid said Wednesday the Senate Ethics Committee is "obligated" to issue the findings of its investigation of Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., and to refer potential criminal violations to the Department of Justice.
Reid, the Senate majority leader from Nevada, was traveling in China last week when Ensign announced he was resigning his Senate seat. Ensign, a two-term Republican, cited the accumulated pressures of investigations conducted by the Justice Department and the Senate into controversies stemming from the extramarital affair he admitted two years ago.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/reid-senate-ethics-panel-obligated-to-issue-ensign-findings-120799969.html
Apparently, the Senate has nothing better to do than to investigate a soon to be ex-senator. Why? The ethics committee can't do anything to Ensign.
If there is indeed some criminal activities, then turn the case over to the FBI. Oh wait, the Feds took over the case when they indicted the husband of the wife Ensign had the affair with when they charged him with being a lobbyist when he wasn't supposed to.
Harry Reid is playing a desperate case of politics in hopes, very slim hopes that the Dem's can win the Senate seat in 2012 and Heller's congressional district. That, or Old Man Harry is still suffering from dementia again.
Besides Harry acting like an old fool again, this is going to be fun times in Nevada. We have never filled a House of Representatives seat and so there are conflicting laws on how to do it. It's going to make great theater.

Tornadoes Ripping Across The South Again

Tornadoes are ripping across the South again today, hitting Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia, New York, Virginia and Kentucky so far.

We Get Results!!

The other day, some blog named Wonkette, ran a very vile and disgusting article about Sarah Palin and he son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome.
I really don't care about the Wonkette and Palin, but I care a hell of a lot about people with Down Syndrome. Not only did article rip on Trig and Palin, the author then called another Down Syndrome child an "it". This is not satire, this is just plain evil.
http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/04/very-evil-and-mean-liberal-blogger.html
Well, I was pissed and wrote a letter to Toyota and protesting their advertising on Wonkette.
I got this response from Toyota:
Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
We apologize for the offense we have caused by our ads appearing on Wonkette.
Toyota doesn't sponsor this site but the ad may have come through one of our ad network buys.
We have taken steps to ensure that our adds no longer appear on this site.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to receive your feedback.
Sincerely,

Toyota Customer Experience

Again, if Wonkette wants to rip Sarah Palin, fine. Palin is a big enough woman to handle the abuse. But when you go against defenseless children with disabilities, then you crossed over the line and you need to pay the price.

Thank You, Toyota.

President Obama: Stupid Ass Moron

As a general rule, I am usually respectful, especially those in power. (Harry Reid is an exception, but in his case, he deserves it). However, today, President Obama made me break this rule.
Today, Obama called on suppliers of oil to increase their production.
From AOL News: As the high cost of gasoline takes a toll on politics and pocket books, President Barack Obama said Tuesday he is calling on major oil producers such as Saudi Arabia to increase their oil supplies to help stabilize prices, warning starkly that lack of relief would harm the global economy."We are in a lot of conversations with the major oil producers like Saudi Arabia to let them know that it's not going to be good for them if our economy is hobbled because of high oil prices," Obama told a Detroit TV station....
In interviews Tuesday with WXYZ in Detroit and in WKTR in Hampton Roads, Va., Obama said the message to major oil producers like Saudi Arabia is that an economy that buckles because of high oil prices won't grow and won't be good for them or for the U.S.Obama acknowledged disruptions in oil production because of the war in Libya. But he said others can make up the difference and "we're pushing them to do so." Libya supplied less than 2 percent of world demand. Saudi Arabia and other OPEC countries already are covering some of that shortage by boosting production.
http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/26/obama-says-he-wants-oil-producers-to-boost-output/

Apparently, this increase in production does not include American suppliers and this comes a day after Obama's EPA shot down drilling in the Arctic that Shell was ready to drill.
http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/04/obama-epa-screw-americans-screw-poor.html
Apparently, American oil is no good to Obama. American jobs are no good to Obama. American tax revenue from the oil drilling is no good for Obama.
When conservatives say Obama is anti-American, they howl in protest. but after this, how can you say anything else but that Obama just doesn't like American. He can't stand the poor, he hates the unemployed and he doesn't care about raising tax revenue.
Obama is a stupid ass moron.

Well, At Least The Guy Lived On The Right Street

From The Las Vegas Sun: Authorities said the incident happened about 9:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Vigilante Court, near Losee Road and Centennial Parkway.
Police said Carlos Barron began yelling at the van's occupants from a second-story window and then went outside to demand they move the van, at which point he allegedly struck the driver.
The TV crew, which was filming as a vehicle belonging to the man's neighbor was being repossessed as part of the show "Repo Games," went to help the van's driver, police said.
Barron then allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired multiple shots at the seven-person crew, police said. No one was injured.
The crew fled the area and called police. By the time officers arrived, Barron had barricaded himself inside his home, police said.
More than two hours later, Barran left through a rear window and jumped a wall in his backyard onto Azure Avenue and tried to run, police said.
A police dog apprehended Barron after he refused commands from officers, authorities said. He suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/26/man-accused-firing-reality-tv-show-film-crew-ident/
At least, the man who was arrested lived on the right street- Vigilante Court.

Good For U.W. Madison

From jsonline: The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health said Tuesday it would take disciplinary action against its physicians who wrote doctor excuse notes for protesters at the state Capitol during rallies in February.
The doctors face discipline ranging from a written reprimand to loss of pay and leadership position, the medical school said in a statement.
The medical school, however, would not say how many doctors were facing discipline.
The school said it reviewed 22 physicians whose names were provided from a variety of sources as having offered medical excuse notes to protesters. Its investigation found that several of those said to have provided excuse notes had not done so.
It said in the statement that it would not release the names of those involved and the actions taken, citing state law governing the confidentiality of public employee records.
The UW School of Medicine and Public Health's investigation is separate from a probe being conducted by the state Department of Regulation and Licensing and the Medical Examining Board into the doctor excuse notes.
Last week, Department of Regulation and Licensing and the Medical Examining Board said that they had opened investigations into eight individuals who allegedly wrote doctor excuse notes for protesters.
Those eight were among 11 people the department had identified as possibly providing excuses.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/120727874.html
I am glad the U.W. took disciplinary action against these doctors. As a teaching hospital, the doctors need to ethical, beyond reproach. Each doctor, at some time or another, deals with med students and they have to set an example on how to be ethical. providing fake doctor excuses is not ethical. Further, as employees of U.W., their medical malpractice insurance is paid by the State of Wisconsin. If something went wrong, like if a "patient" died of a heart attack 5 minutes after being seen by these doctors, it would put the doctor and U.W. at risk for a medical malpractice lawsuit.
So, good for U.W. Madison for not letting these doctors off the hook.

Attention Metro Motorcyle Cops

Attention Metro Motorcycle cop with the license plate of ex0443: why do you blow by my car 3 times a week or so on Hwy 95, going north from Henderson to the police station on St. Louis Ave.. I'm going 70 and you have to be going at least 75 mph, if not faster. If you want us to respect the law, why don't you follow the law?
Further, why do motorcycle cops get to bring their motorcycles home? I don't get to take a school bus home, so why do they get take their motorcycles home?

Californinaization of Nevada Continues

The nannies of Nevada, most Democrat, but some GOP nannies are striking again. Now, they are trying to ban texting and talking on a cell phone while driving

From the Las Vegas Review-Journal: The state Senate voted 12-9 Tuesday to ban handheld cellphones and texting while driving.
The bill would go into effective Oct. 1, although Police would be prohibited from citing violators until Jan. 1.
The fine would be $50 for the first offense, $100 for the second and $250 for third and subsequent offenses.
The bill's sponsor, Sen. Shirley Breeden, D-Henderson, originally sought fines of $250 to $1,000.

I will be the first person say texting and talking on a cell phone while driving is very stupid. I know I can't do it and I am sure most people can't either. http://www.lvrj.com/news/nevada-senate-votes-to-ban-texting-handheld-phones-while-driving-120738689.html

When are we going to ban drinking and eating while driving? How about shaving and putting on driving? Can you talk or text at a red light?

This law is just stupid and just another reason for the cops to pull you over and and give you a fine and/or search your car.

There are laws already on the books to deal with this problem- reckless driving for one. But the Democrats and RINOs just will not be satisfied until Nevada is considered to be the California to the East and then look out Utah, Arizona, Colorado and other states to the east. The California idiots will be after you soon.

Pawn Stars Review: April 25, 2011

Good evening everyone and welcome to another 2 new episodes of Pawn Stars. Spring is here with the arrival of Black Widow spiders and Scorpions (not the bands- the insects). Even though Spring is here, there is still tons of snow up in the mountains and snow will still be on the mountains in June, based on past years and the ski hill will probably be open until june.
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a antique blunderbuss, like a gun used by Elmer Fudd int he Bugs Bunny cartoons. The guy wanted $10,000. The blunderbuss was small and quite old from the 16th century. Sean came to inspect the blunderbuss. It had a Lazzerino barrel and that is a good thing but other parts were made about 150 years later. Rick offered $1500 and then $2000. Sold.
Rick said in this segment, he pays rent. Umm, no. The Harrison's own the building they work in, according to the Clark County Accessor's office. Probably a tax thing.
The next guy brought in a 1978 Coke Cola sponsored motor home. The motor home was a prize in a contest in the late 70's. It was Coke decorated inside and out. The maker was GMC. The guy wanted $50,000 and Rick offered $20,000 and then $30,000 and then $35,000. The guy still wanted $42,000 and there was no sale and Rick called the seller Old Man.
The next lady brought in a "Secret of Charm" book from 1964. It was written by John Powers, from the Powers modeling and talent agency. It was almost scary reading it with all the suggestions on how to be charming in public. The lady $30 and Corey offered $5 and then $15. And that was the selling price. The lady paid 50 cents for the book.
The next lady brought in a San Francisco 1989 cheerleader Super Bowl Ring and was brought in a by a former 49er cheerleader. She wanted a lot and Corey offered $1000 and up to about $1300 and so there was no deal. Those rings are fairly rare. This year, there were no cheerleaders in the Super Bowl.
The next guy brought in an autographed picture of 4 members of the band Who. The guy wanted $2000 and time for an expert, Drew from Authentic Autographs Unlimited. One of the Who members, Entwhistle, died in Las Vegas. Drew said the signatures were real with about a $2500 value. The guy wanted $2000 and Rick offered $1000 and then $1100 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a speed reading machine. The guy got it from a Church rummage sale. It really wasn't much, just a ruler going down the page of the book. The Old Man offered $20 to give to Chumlee so Chumlee can practice and that was the price.
Then Chumlee was caught speed reading the charm book.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a a George Patton photo album from World War 2. There were some autographed pictures in the collection. The man got the book from his grandfather, who served with Patton. Time for the expert, Dana. He thought the pictures were not real and the signatures were not real. The value of the pictures was a crap shoot. The guy wanted $2000 and Rick offered $500 and then $600- no sale.
The next guy brought in a an old travel men's kit, with a lot of sterling silver. It was from the early 1800's and was French in nature. The guy wanted $10,000 and Rick offered $6000 and then $6500 and that was the deal. All cash.
The next guy brought in some jockey racing boots, size 1, autographed by Willie Shoemaker, a very famous horse racing jockey. The autograph was faded. The guy wanted $4000. The seller looked like Rick's brother- bald head and and goatee. Drew came in and said it was real with a value was about a lot more than a picture. The guy wanted $1250 and Rick offered $500. that was the deal.
The next lady had a Decanter collections, over 175 of them. All of them used to hold, mostly Jim Beam, liquor. It looks like a lot of ceramic dolls and figurines. The lady wanted $4500 and Rick offered $500 and then $600 and that was the deal. One of the few times they actually bought something from some one's house(Mountain's Edge area).
The next guy brought in some bullet proof vests- never been shot at. It was made of Kevlar and so it was fairly new but the vest had an expiration date of 2007. The guy wanted $300 and then $150 and that was the selling price. Great, with Las Vegas's crime problem, with Metro having a shootout every few weeks, this may not be a good buy for Las Vegas.
So, ends another week of Pawn Stars. Next week there will be more new shows. Have a safe week and enjoy the Spring, unless you live south of the equator, then have a great Fall.

Ron Paul In For GOP Presidential Race

Sigh. Ron Paul (TX-Loon) has decided to run for president again, for the 2012 Presidential election.
From the Nationaljournal.com: Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he's going to try a third time.
Sources close to Paul, who is in his 12th term in the House, said he will unveil an exploratory presidential committee, a key step in gearing up for a White House race. He will also unveil the campaign’s leadership team in Iowa, where the first votes of the presidential election will be cast in caucuses next year.

Paul, 75, ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, finishing with less than one half a percent of the vote. After more than a decade as a Republican congressman, Paul gave it another shot in the 2008 presidential election, gaining attention for being the only Republican candidate calling for the end to the war in Iraq and for his “money bomb” fundraising strategy, which brought in millions of dollars from online donors in single-day pushes.
http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/ron-paul-launches-presidential-campaign-20110425
I am sure Paul is a very nice guy and I agree with him about 80% of the time. But he is 75 years old and many of his supporters are just plain nuts. Not all, mind you, but many.
He probably is the father of the Tea Party and will get many votes from them.
But I am still waiting for a legitimate GOP contender to emerge. Obama is ripe for an election upset for the right, especially with inflation that will be out of control, high gas prices, food prices will cause some starvation in the U.S. and so on. Trump is not the answer, interesting but not conservative. Romney=Obamacare model. Hucklebee- nope. Gingrich- seriously? Palin- yes, but the media and liberals would kill her, literally and maybe for real. Christies said he is not running, Cain is a maybe and Paul Ryan is too valuable to leave the House at this time.
So, hopefully, a dark house will show up soon and surprise us and Ron Paul is not one of them.

Good For Sandoval

The Democrats in Nevada are really pissed off. When John Ensign resigned, like they called for publicly but really didn't want because they wanted to compare the GOP candidate to Ensign. Because Ensign resigned with more than year and half to go on his term, this comparison just ain't happening.
Today, the Democrats wanted a formal application process and transparency, thinking we must be Illinois. (Yes, I know, members of the Clark County Commission, mostly Democrats, act like they are in Chicago sometimes)
But Brian Sandoval rejected the Democrats request. from the Las Vegas Sun: Gov. Brian Sandoval has two simple criteria for the candidate he’ll appoint to replace U.S. Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., when he resigns next Tuesday: be ready to work on day one and reflect Ensign’s political ideology.
But don’t expect Sandoval to seek much public input on who best fits those categories.
Sandoval’s senior adviser Dale Erquiaga said today the governor will try to best follow the will of the voters by appointing someone who not only is Republican, but matches Ensign’s “political ideology,” a term he declined to define.
“Sen. Ensign’s politics are fairly clear,” Erquiaga said.
Erquiaga dismissed an effort by Democrats in the Legislature to establish an “open, fair and public process” to select the appointment.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/25/sandoval-rejects-democrats-call-formal-application/
Sandoval is exactly right, though Dean Heller, if picked, isn't exactly a strong conservative, but he is close enough.
And I am sure the Nevada Democrats were just howling in protest in how Massachusetts handled their Senate opening after teddy Kennedy died.
And did we here howls of protests about how Illinois went about getting their new senator after Obama was elected?
Can we say the Democrats have no creditability on this issue? Yep.

Nevada Democrats: Parental Consent For Tanning Beds, Not Abortions

Nevada Democrats are a bunch of very sick people. Today, the Nevada Assembly, run by Democrats passed a bill requiring parental consent for kids under 18 to use tanning equipment, like tanning beds.
But Nevada, kids do not need parental consent to have an abortion.
How sick is that?
From The Las Vegas Sun: The owner of a tanning business would be required to have the written consent of parents before allowing anyone under 18 years old to use tanning equipment under a bill approved Monday by the Senate.
And a person qualified to operate the equipment would have to be present at all times when the youth is using sunlamps, tanning booth, tanning beds and other devices that emit ultraviolet radiation.
Senate Bill 291 would allow the parents to file suit if the tanning business operator didn't get written consent.
The owner could be hit with a $2,000 judgment, plus court and attorney fees, for the first offense. The second offense would carry a $4,000 judgment.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/25/bill-requiring-parental-consent-tanning-advances/
Besides showing how sick the Democrats are, this is more nanny state politics. We are slowly becoming California East. I don't which is worse, California immigrants or illegal aliens. It's a very, very close call.

Obama, EPA: Screw Americans, Screw The Poor, Screw The Unemployed

President Obama must hate the poor, the unemployed and Americans in general as he just screws them at every chance he gets. Seriously, what policy has Obama instituted that has helped the poor since he has been elected president?

Now come word that Obama and the EPA just gave the unemployed, poor and Americans in general a big F--K You.

From Fox News: Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits. The move has angered some in Congress and triggered a flurry of legislation aimed at stripping the EPA of its oil drilling oversight.
Shell has spent five years and nearly $4 billion dollars on plans to explore for oil in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. The leases alone cost $2.2 billion. Shell Vice President Pete Slaiby says obtaining similar air permits for a drilling operation in the Gulf of Mexico would take about 45 days. He’s especially frustrated over the appeal board’s suggestion that the Arctic drill would somehow be hazardous for the people who live in the area. “We think the issues were really not major,” Slaiby said, “and clearly not impactful for the communities we work in.”
The closest village to where Shell proposed to drill is Kaktovik, Alaska. It is one of the most remote places in the
United States. According to the latest census, the population is 245 and nearly all of the residents are Alaska natives. The village, which is 1 square mile, sits right along the shores of the Beaufort Sea, 70 miles away from the proposed off-shore drill site.
The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling.

Seriously, what has Obama done for the poor and unemployed except hurt them? Hope and Change. How's that working?

Harry Reid Must Hate His Wife

Harry Reid and a bunch of U.S. senators are traveling through China on a so-called business trip, but the senators on the trip are not disclosing their itinerary. The reason? Because it so dangerous in China.
But each senator is bringing their wives.
They must hate their wives quite a bit if they are going to put them in such danger.
Unless the senators are trying to hide something from the American public.
Which one is it?

A Sales Tax I Can Support

In general, I am against almost every tax raise issue. Most tax raise proposals are just designated to fund further fat.
Well, yesterday, I went to the store to buy some candy bars- they had a sale at Albertsons, 2 for a dollar, and I had to get some money for my daughter's field trip from the cash back. So, off to Albertsons for some good old chocolate and sugar and I was kind of shocked that candy bars are not taxed. (unless it was a mistake by Albertsons.)
I understand the theory that food should not be taxed, food that can feed a family. Candy bars don't fit this description. Soda pop is taxed, so there is some inconsistency in this.
So, my liberal side is saying this- if the food is not accepted by food stamps, then I have no problem with it being taxed at the regular sales tax rate, which varies around the state of the Nevada.
The money should not be put in any special fund, just the general fund.
See, I have a liberal side.

John Katz-err heckler: Slimey POS With No Class

John Katsilometes is the entertainment reporter who thinks the world revolves around him. He's not a very good reporter, missing many things in entertainment in this town along with making false reports on occasion.
Well, today, he puts out an article in which he gladly plays an unwanted heckler in the crowd at a comedy show put on by Lewis Black. I don't know Black, though, if he is like most comedians in town, he is probably loud and profane. (see update)
From the Katz report: As always, mine will be an unbilled and entirely unexpected insertion of comic genius uncorked from the very middle of the Mirage Terry Fator Theater. Somehow I have a ticket that positions me ideally in the center, a perfect spot whence to fire my own inspired witticisms during pauses in Black’s precision stand-up show.
Lucky me. Lucky Lewis.
Call me “The Interloper.” Some are fast to refer to me as a heckler, but I do not heckle. Rather, I mischievously play the role of artistic trespasser. And it is an art, passed down through generations of interlopers...

Tonight, tonight is a challenge. Lewis Black will be a tricky target. He is smart. He is angry. He is experienced. I need to be on my game to be on his nerves.
Early in the show, Black struggles to pull the cap off a bottle of water. I shout, “Fiji!” He halts, nods and grins slightly.
Off to a good start. I have planted the seed...

“You know,” he says, now addressing me directly. “There is no reason for you to add to the show. I have put A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THIS ACT WITHOUT NEEDING INPUT FROM YOU!”
The audience cheers. They are mine.
He moves on to his new Android. This is a funny routine, how he has had to set up a means to make a call from his iPhone out of his house by calling AT&T and setting up additional technical infrastructure.
“Yes, I have had to call AT&T to provide the infrastructure I thought I was buying with my cell phone to do what?” he cries. “To make a call from a cell phone in my house from a LAND LINE!”
Waiting … waiting …
“So I have now switched to an Android,” he tells us. And the crowd applauds.
“DON’T APPLAUD THAT!” he says, building to a punch line.
“Why not!?” I shout.
Again, he breaks from his act.
“Look!” he shouts, “when I write this material, I consider every possible question. THAT’S WHAT THE PAUSE IS FOR! THE PAUSE LETS THE AUDIENCE ASK THE QUESTION IN THEIR HEADS, NOT OUT LOUD, YOU IDIOT! Some comics build audience response into their acts! I AM NOT ONE OF THEM.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2011/apr/24/lewis-black-plays-mirage-and-wow-if-he-doesnt-have/
Apparently, Katsilometes thinks he is the reason why people come to the show. He is wrong. I have been to plenty of shows in Las Vegas to know that hecklers are a pain in the ass. The actor/comedian can flop or succeed with out the help of a heckler. (see update)
A couple of weeks ago, Katz was at a show at the Hilton where Motley Crew singer, Vince Neil went berserk against his ex-girlfriend. Now, I wonder if Neil was provoked by Katsilometes.
So, Katsilometes, if you want to interrupt a show why don't you do it at the local NAMBLA meeting which you may go to. Your antics probably will be more welcome there and the people who attend Las Vegas shows and pay good money to do so, won't have to listen to your crap.

update: Apparently I wan't the only one fooled by Katz- he wrote: The idea was to satirically write from the point of view of someone who did, in fact, disrupt a live performance by Lewis Black. I was at the show, but I was not actually that person. This was written from the perspective of any idiot who would be motivated, somehow, to interject himself into a stand-up comedy show. It was not me who actually disrupted the show, no.
And
I understand how this column could have been confused. I added the note after it was originally posted, just to make it clear. I would not interrupt a show in such a way, not Lewis Black on Saturday or any entertainer on any day. I don't get why people feel the need to act like idiots, but rather than just make that trite point, I wrote from a different perspective -- that of the idiot.

NASCAR Cafe and Big 3 Burrito

Today, we went to the NASCAR Cafe in the soon to be history, Sahara Casino and Hotel. The Sahara is going to close down May 16th due to financial reasons and the fact it is almost 60 years old.
We went to the NASCAR Cafe, home of the 6 pound burrito and to say we were disappointed, is an understatement. The burrito was featured on Man vs Food. Yes, the burrito is for sale, but on Saturday, it was not because they ran out of meat.
However, it is only available to people who want to try the challenge- eat the thing in 90 minutes and it is free, otherwise you pay $20.
But if you want to split the burrito with your family or friends, you won't be able to- again only people trying the challenge can get one.
One guy was trying the challenge when I was there- skinny little guy. He got maybe 1/4 of the way done and that was it. I am not sure if you get to keep the leftovers.
The rest of the meal experience sucked. The service was so-so, the food portions were less than advertised and it was expensive for the portions.
As far as the Sahara, for a weekend, it seemed almost deserted. No one wanted to play poker in the poker room and maybe 10% of the slots were being used and that is being generous.
The NASCAR store is gone, along with several other stores and departments.
No wonder it is being closed.
But if you want to check it out, the last day of the Sahara is May 16, 2011. Then it will boarded up and probably be imploded sometime in the future.

Oh, Now They Tell Us

The Green Bay Press Gazette runs a nice article about how the son of Green Pay Packer great Ray Nitschke, was having an auction to sell off of some of his father's memorabilia. Well, that should be- had an auction.
By the time the Press-Gazette put the article online, the auction was over.
http://packersnews.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20110421/PKR01/110421143/Nitschke-s-son-feels-time-right-auction-some-father-s-memorabilia?odyssey=tabtopnewstextFRONTPAGE
Rich Nitschke has a lot of his father’s possessions. His Minocqua home is stocked with Ray Nitschke jerseys, rings, jackets and plenty of items with a Packers logo on them.
And he decided it was time for some of it to go.A live auction will be held in Dallas today for 16 items owned by the Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker, who died in 1998 after winning five NFL championships, including Super Bowls I and II, with the Packers from 1958 to 1972. Online bidding, which ended Thursday night, ranged from about $300 to $7,000 for game-worn jerseys, his Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame ring, autographed game programs and other memorabilia.
(emphasis mine)
You don't think any fans of the Green Bay Packers would have been interested in buying some souviners from one of the greatest Packers of all time, do you?

Today, King Obama Found Out He Is Not A King After All

Poor President Obama, the would be king of the United States. His poll numbers are dropping, he gets heckled by his own followers and now, today he found out he is not royalty.

From the Washington Post: Foreign dignitaries, the Middletons’ family friends, British government and defense officials, families of British soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, William’s army colleagues, and people who work for William’s charities will be seated around the abbey.
Palace officials said that only crowned heads of states are traditionally invited to royal weddings, and that political leaders who are not from the 54-member Commonwealth of nations, such as President Barack Obama or French President Nicolas Sarkozy, weren’t sent invitations. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/official-royal-wedding-list-released-by-britains-monarchy/2011/04/23/AFVgQ2TE_story.html?hpid=z3

Probably, another reason Obama was not invited is that the Royal Couple don't want another I-Pod of Obama speeches he has given, like he gave the queen.

The Cockroaches err, Righthaven, Gets Slapped Down Again

The cockroach infested lawy firm of Righthaven was slapped down in federal Court yesterday when a Federal judge, James Mahan, threw out a copy right infringement case in which Righthaven sued a non-profit, Center For Intercultural Organizing for copying an entire LVRJ article and posting it on their web site. The judge slapped down tthe LVRJ and Righthaven through out the dismissal order.
From the judge's ruling:
The court finds that the defendant’s use of the copyrighted article in this case constitutes fair
use as a matter of law. The article has been removed from its original context; it is no longer owned
by a newspaper; and it has been assigned to a company that uses the copyright exclusively to file
infringement lawsuits. Plaintiff’s litigation strategy has a chilling effect on potential fair uses of
Righthaven-owned articles, diminishes public access to the facts contained therein, and does nothing
to advance the Copyright Act’s purpose of promoting artistic creation.
Accordingly,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, ADJUDGED, AND DECREED that, in the case of Righthaven
LLC v. Center For Intercultural Organizing et al. (2:10-cv-01322-JCM -LRL), summary judgment
is granted in favor of the defendants;

http://media.lasvegassun.com/media/pdfs/2011/04/22/judgeorder.pdf
I am sure this is not the end of this trial. Righthaven will appeal because they have to. If Righthaven loses this case, then they have lost their business model- suing bloggers over copyright infringement. In addition, I am sure, the non-profit will ask Righthaven to pay it's attorney's fees and other costs, as well.
It is also very rare for a defendant to win a summary judgement so early in a case. There was no trial, no discovery- just a couple of legal briefs exchanged. So, the judge in this case, Mahan, had to have been underwhelmed with the cases Righthaven have been bringing.
Righthaven has sunk so low that their web site (http://righthaven.com/) was taken away by GoDaddy now there is no web site for Righthaven.
Righthaven is like your school's bully. They talk tough, thump their chests but in the end, when someone fights back, they really turn out to be a bunch of losers.
I think it is safe to say, Righthaven is going to be out of business very soon. Watch out Las Vegas Review Journal, you might be next.

Huge Outbreak Of Tornadoes Continue Today

Right now, there are at least 7 tornado warnings in the Midwest of the U.S., including 1 tornado in the City of St. Louis, MO. The airport control tower are saying they can see a tornado from their vantage place. Sounds like there will be major damage in St. Louis and it's suburbs.
The tornadoes are in Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky.
Pray for them.

Update: The St. Louis airport was very hard hit and is closed. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/article_86b504de-6d55-11e0-aa2f-001a4bcf6878.html

Reminds of when I was a kid living in Wauwatosa WI., when heavy storms, including a possible tornado tore off a roof of a church and caused other damage at 12 noon on Good Frday. You talk about scaring the crap out of someone.

Some People Just Don't Get It: Lindsay Lohan Goes To Jail Again

Some people get all the breaks in the world- they have fame, fortune, friends, good looks health and access to just about anything they want. They don't have to worry about being poor, where their next meal is going to come from, if they can afford their health care etc.
Which brings my to Lindsay Lohan. She's back in jail after trying to steal a $2500 necklace she could afford. From TMZ: Lindsay has been remanded into custody and taken to the basement of the courthouse for booking. Lindsay's lawyer has said she'll appeal, which means Lindsay is entitled to post bail.Lohan was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service -- 360 of those hours must be performed at the Downtown Women's Center, so Lindsay can see how needy women have to live. The remaining 120 hours will be served at the L.A. County morgue.
Judge Sautner explained that Lindsay should have called the store and notified the owners about the necklace sooner. She waited several weeks and returned the necklace after finding out the cops were about to raid her house.Sautner seemed influenced by the surveillance video, which she saw for the first time in court today. Sautner agreed with Danette Meyers, who argued Lindsay used her friend Patrick as a decoy to distract the clerk.
http://www.tmz.com/2011/04/22/lindsay-lohan-misdemeanor-court-hearing-necklace-danette-meyers-shawn-holley-stephanie-sautner-reduced-felony-charge-kamofie-surveillance-video/?icid=main%7Chp-desktop%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk1%7C210630
I am just curious as to what kind of community service you can do at the L.A. County Morgue.
My students, who are severely disabled, have far more class and character Lindsay Lohan will ever have.
I do hope that Lohan gets her act together. Not because she is a star or celebrity but because she is a human being. Otherwise, send her to jail and strip her of her dignity. Maybe that will help her get her act together.

Las Vegas Sun Civility In Action

The Las vegas Sun, who banned me apparently think quotes like this are just perfectly acceptable:
hey democrats...get your s#!^ together...brian sandoval is about to inflict irreparable harm on the innocent children of nevada...got that...wake the f#@& up...get your house in order...and start destroying that maggot...brian sandoval is a complete and total fraud...he can be destroyed...frickin destroy him!!!here's a start...plaster the media with the fact that he is the son of mexican immigrants...when asked during the campaign if he was concerned about racial profiling...he said no because his kids did not look hispanic...concrete proof that he is a fraud...get to work...and if you can not defeat that maggot...maybe it's time for you to find another job...you control the assembly and the senate...you can win...now frickin do it!!!

I am sure Nevada State College and Mandaly Bay are proud to be sponsoring quotes like this.

Watch Out Nashville: Kyle Busch Is In Town

Nashville is on edge this weekend as Kyle Busch is in town. Two years ago, Busch won the Nationwide race and was given a beautiful guitar and promptly destroyed it. Here is the video:

I wonder if Busch wins again, will he repeat his stupid stunt?

Harry Reid Pisses Off Guam

Harry Reid just can't win (except beating Sharron Angle). He makes a secret trip to China that produced little or no results. And then on the way back, he pisses off the governor of Guam.
From the Washington Post: It’s unclear whether the Reid and McConnell codels succeeded in making any friends in Asia, but they clearly managed to antagonize some folks even before they got to the mainland.
Seems Guam Gov. Eddie Calvo (R) is “livid” that neither the Reid nor McConnell codels — arriving in Guam about the same time last weekend for a refueling stop — bothered to meet with local officials.
“These U.S. senators, both Democrat and Republican, have decided to thumb their noses at the island and its government,” the governor said in a news release, according to the Guam Pacific Daily News. Calvo said using Guam as a “pit stop” is unacceptable.
Other local officials from both parties weighed in with similar statements.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/harry-reids-high-stakes-china-gamble/2011/04/21/AFGH8cKE_story.html?hpid=z2
Maybe Reid thought they were to important to meet with the little people. After all, you know how Harry feels about us smelly little people:

Censorship: I've Been Banned At The Las Vegas Sun

Apparently, the cowardly newspaper of civility, of fairness, freedom of speech can't handle critism. I've been banned from making comments in the comment section of the Las Vegas Sun news articles
But the cowards at the Las Vegas Sun just won't come out and say you're banned. You can sign in and post a comment and you can see the comment, but no one else can see what you wrote.
They eliminated my profile from their database That's mightily cowardly of Brian Greenspun and the Las Vegas Sun editors.
Of course, the Sun will allow their racist posters stay on. Birdiedreaming, Frank Simmons, mred and others are allowed to spew their hate towards conservatives. But me? I guess that the Sun cannot handle someone who criticizes it and is conservative.
Brian Greenspun. You are a racist and a coward. Las Vegas Sun writers and editors. You are cowards. Apparently, if you can't handle the truth, you silence it.
As Bugs Bunny says: Of course, you know, this means war.

Free Speech? Not In Michigan And Not Against Muslims

The "Rev" Terry Jones is an idiot. He hates Muslims and has burned a Koran in the past. Because of this, members of the religion of peace- Islam- decided to kill other Muslims in protest.
Now, Jones wants to go to Michigan to hold a protest against Islam and Michigan and local governments are trying to restrict his free speech.
From the Detroit Free Press: With some of metro Detroit's biggest political and religious leaders united behind Muslims in Dearborn, Florida Pastor Terry Jones is expected to appear in court this morning for a jury trial that could determine whether he can hold a rally at the largest mosque in the city....
Al-Qazwini's mosque is where Jones wants to rally today against what he calls "the radical element in Islam." Jones appeared in court Thursday and refused to post a bond for the massive security effort Dearborn says it would have to deploy if Jones were allowed to rally. The judge then ordered the trial....
A battle over free speech played out Thursday in Dearborn as Quran-burning Pastor Terry Jones arrived in metro Detroit to make his bid to protest today in front of the largest mosque in Dearborn. And questions remained as to whether the pastor would be able to carry out his plan.
Dearborn officials and Wayne County prosecutors sought to convince Jones to post a bond for security costs if he wants to protest in Dearborn. And they urged him to rally not at the Islamic Center of America -- his desired spot -- but instead in front of their City Hall or civic center.

Even the ACLU agrees with Jones: Earlier Thursday, the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and others criticized authorities, saying they were wrongly denying Jones his constitutional rights.
The government should "not impinge on a person's right to protest, even when their speech is as distasteful and offensive as Rev. Jones' is," said Rana Elmir, communications director for the Michigan ACLU. "We should combat hate speech with more speech."

What are Muslims afraid of? Someone not saying they are a religion of peace?
When the unions and their supporters in Wisconsin took over the capitol in Wisconsin, did the governor charge the unions, Democrats and liberals for the extra police protection? Nope. That would have restricted free speech.
When the Westboro Baptist Church decides to picket at a soldier who was killed in action- did they have to pay a fee to protest or have police protection? Nope.
So, why the hell are Muslims so damn special? I would suggest that the Muslims grow up, become mature and deal with people who disagree with you. Muslims are acting like a bunch of crybabies. Burn a Koran. So, let's kill fellow Muslims. Somebody protests you? Ohhh, let's run to the courts to try and prevent the rally. Geez, how many protests have there been against the Catholic and Baptist religions in the past few years?
So, grow up, Muslims, and if some idiot burns the Koran, deal with it like adults, like most religions do. If someone protests at your Mosque. Act like an adult and ignore it. Like most religions do. And if Muslims act like extremists and kill people in the name of Islam, condemn the violent actions like most religions would do. It's really that easy. Just grow up.

Giving Awards For Doing Their Jobs?

I hate it when people, companies or government agencies toot their own horn. I don't care if is in the school system, public safety or individuals like celebrities who say "look at me".
Today, a bunch of Metro police officers were given awards for doing their job. From the LVRJ: In August, Madland was the recipient of the department's Purple Heart medal. Back then, he said he was grateful to be alive and eager to be back on the job.
On Thursday, in uniform, Madland was once again the recipient of an award during a commendation ceremony hosted by Sheriff Doug Gillespie.
This time around, the 32-year-old father and Air Force veteran was recognized by current members of the security force at Nellis Air Force Base.
"It's the bond of the blue beret," said Major Chris Johnson, who presented Madland with an award from the base.
After the ceremony, Madland said he was thankful.
He was one of 61 people to be recognized by the department Thursday. http://www.lvrj.com/news/police-officers-honored-for-lifesaving-services-120426889.html#blogcomments?submitted=y

The story goes on to mention how some officers went on to do some heroic things. Or at least some things that you or I would do, if given the chance. But 61 people got awards? Why?
I'm sorry, while it is nice to say to an officer, good job, but these officers were just doing their job. They just happened to be in the right place and the right time.
I've been involved in rescues, both as a civilian and as a firefighter and EMT. I never expected a medal or honor, even though I have received some certificates for being in the right place at the right time and doing the right thing. It really was embarrassing and I was just doing the right thing.
Further, it also implies that other officers may not be doing their job as well and that is wrong.
I am also sure that most of the officers who received the awards also will say that they were just doing their job and are probably embarrassed to have to go to the award ceremony.
So, next time, Sheriff Gillespie, please put the commendations in their file and keep quiet. These officers are just doing their job.

Breaking News: John Ensign To Resign Tomorrow

The LVRJ is reporting that Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) is going to resign and that Brian Sandoval will be able to appoint his replacement.
From the LVRJ: U.S. Sen. John Ensign plans to resign as soon as Friday morning, according to two sources who are in a position to know.
That would pave the way for GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval to appoint a replacement for the Republican senator. http://www.lvrj.com/news/ensign-will-resign-friday-sources-say-120417789.html

The smart money will on Dean Heller getting the Senate seat.
In the past I have called for Ensign to resign after he screwed up big time by having an affair with a staffer and then paying off the family of the staffer. The the husband of the staffer later gets arrested for doing a lobbying job that Ensign got him.
The liberals also called for his resignation but now I think they are going to regret it because it will give Heller a huge advantage in his Senate race against Shelly Berkley.
Thank you Sen. John Ensign, you did the right thing.

Vile And Disgusting Article Removed

Yesterday, I wrote a post on one of the most disgusting articles I have seen on the blogosphere or anywhere else. The Wonkette wrote an article about Trig Palin and ripped on kids with Down Syndrome, including calling one Down Syndrome child an "it". The comments in the comment section were just as bad and vile.
Well, today, the vile and heinous article was taken down by Wonkette and also noticeable, a lot of advertising is also missing.
From Wonkette: "A post on this page satirizing Sarah Palin using her baby as a political prop was very badly done and sounded like the author was mocking the child and not just Sarah Palin/Sarah Palin’s followers.
The writer, Jack Stuef, has apologized for it. And we have decided to remove the post as requested by some people who have nothing to do with Sarah Palin, but who do have an interest in the cause of special needs children. We apologize for the poor comedic judgment"

http://wonkette.com/443737/rude-post-deleted-by-editor-author-apologizes
First, the author was mocking Trig Palin and not Sarah Palin. That is clear by the post. Also, where is the POS author's apology? And they are removing because some people who are not associated with Sarah Palin asked. You mean if you are a Sarah Palin fan and requested the removal, they would not have removed the post?
The Wonkette web site is a vile and disgusting web site- it is the Westboro Church for liberals. I hope the advertisers continue to stay away from that vile and disgusting web site.

This Sums It Up About The Wisconsin Supreme Court Race

From Jeff Wagner of WTMJ radio: Reality to JoAnne Kloppenburg. The election is over and you lost! Do the right thing and get on with the rest of your life.
Unfortunately for the taxpayers however, defeated Supreme Court candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg is refusing to go quietly into the good night. Instead, she is insisting that taxpayers shell out over $1,000,000 for
a recount which she hopes will overturn her 7316-vote defeat. Kloppenburg is blasting ahead despite the fact that no statewide recount anywhere in the last 30 years has resulted in a swing of more than 1300 votes.
By the way, Kloppenburg wants the recount done
by hand instead of by machine - apparently believing that machines are unreliable! A hand recount of one and one half million ballots would, of course, substantially increase costs to the taxpayers and further delay the inevitable Prosser vIctory.
Still unclear about the entire process is why Kloppenburg felt a lead of 200 votes in an unofficial election night tally was sufficient for her to
claim victory but a 7300 margin in the official results is not enough to concede defeat? Oops.
Clearly, this isn't about Kloppenburg winning any more. That ship has sailed.
Unfortunately, this election has now become about about making unsubstantiated allegations in an effort to keep the liberal base fired up as we move into a series of State Senate recall elections. It's really too bad that Kloppenburg would allow herself to be used as a tool in this regard. However, ever since she
failed to distance herself from the anti-Prosser smear campaign launched by her allies, it's clear her judgement is suspect.
As to firing up the base, the Left should be careful what it wishes for. As Kloppenburg learned the hard way, firing up a base works both ways - and it's fair to say that after months of bullying and thuggish tactics by the Left, conservatives are now about as fired up as they can be
. http://www.620wtmj.com/shows/jeffwagner/120359984.html?blog=y
This is how it is going to be in 2012, especially if the Democrats lose big time. There are no more gracious losing on the Democratic side- just bitterness, anger and a lack of class.

How Horribly Sad

From Fox News: Two Minnesota girls who felt bullied by their peers killed themselves in an apparent suicide pact during a sleepover at one of the teen's homes.
A family member found the bodies of Haylee Fentress and Paige Moravetz, both 14, on Saturday at a home in Island Lake Township, Minn.
The girls hanged themselves and left suicide notes, one detailing plans for her funeral, ABC News reports.
"She requested everything pink and princess and butterflies," Fentress' aunt, Robin Settle, told the network in an interview.

The two friends, who attended Marshall Middle School, reportedly felt like outcasts in their eighth-grade class. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/21/bullied-minnesota-girls-reportedly-hang-apparent-suicide-pact/
Bullying is a terrible thing in schools. I know my son was bullied at his school for a little bit and it was so damaging and hurtful to him and he needed all the support he could get from home.
As a teacher, I take bullying seriously if I see it. However, there are some teachers out there that don't take it seriously and sometimes even partake in the bullying and this can be the result.
Prayers to the families of the kids and I hope if anyone ever sees bullying going on, they need to stop it. Whether it is students, teachers or parents.

Rules For Nevada Radicals/Liberals

Charlie Sykes is a conservative talk show host in Milwaukee and he came up with a list of rules for Wisconsin Radicals/Liberals. I just revised the rules so it can be used for all the radicals and liberals in Nevada:
Rules for Nevada Radicals
Never acknowledge conservative victories as legitimate.
Never concede defeat in legislative votes. There is always a cloud.
Litigate everything.
Rely on Clark County/Washoe County judges whenever possible.
Elections only matter if liberals win.
Say Republicans are destroying schools, bring legislative process to a halt, tie up the courts, extort businesses, try to overturn elections … and then say “this is what democracy looks like.”
Private businesses, families, personal lives are all fair game. Get the Mainstream media to say that “both sides’ are equally guilty.
Create appearance of scandal and misconduct wherever and whenever possible.
Chant “shame, shame, shame,” a lot.
Break laws, ignore rules, commit fraud, grand stand, change standards at will – but hold conservatives to a standard of absolute compliance.
If we can’t defeat conservatives at the ballot box, we can discredit them and demoralize them. If we get inside their heads, we win.
Encourage conspiracy theories. Use the phrase “Koch Brothers,” as often as possible.
Create chaos whenever possible.
Demand investigations, even if there is nothing to investigate. It adds to appearance of chaos and misconduct. Media, especially The Las Vegas Sun, they will always bite.
Bully, intimidate, and threaten, unleash union thugs… but repeatedly accuse Brian Sandoval and the GOP of being bullies.
Hold many rallies.
Remember: there is no voter or registration fraud, except when the charge works for our benefit.
Invoke ‘civility,’ when it is in our interest (to get conservatives to shut up), but otherwise feel free to use the vilest language possible.
It doesn’t matter if an accusation against a conservative is true or false; the only question is: can we use it to win (or discredit and demoralize conservatives).
Don't respond to talk radio or other conservative media: discredit them. Remember they are never to be considered a legitimate alternative viewpoint: they are liars."
Rely on the conservative base to hold their own to a higher standard than we do. We don’t care about the private lives of Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, or Dina Titus, but they will turn on their own in cases where we would just look the other way. (The MSM accepts and embraces the double standard so use it.)
Accuse conservatives of hypocrisy a lot. Obviously we are immune to the charge, since we don’t have any standards… except getting our way.
Use every controversy to stoke leftist anger and paranoia and raise money.
Never, ever stop

Obama's NLRB: Screw The Law

Boeing decided it needed a new plant to build the new 787. They decided to build the plant in South Carolina, a right to work state instead of other states that don't have right to work, including their home based state of Washington D.C.. Besides getting a pretty good deal from the South Carolina governments, another reason was to avoid strikes which has hurt Boeing at least 4 times over the years.
Well, the unions cried to Obama's National Labor Relations Board and the NLRB came down hard on Boeing. The NLRB ordered Boeing to ship the some or most of the work to a union shop, even though Boeing never harmed union workers in their union factory in Washington State and other union shops when they decided to build in South Carolina.
From the Charolette Observer: The top lawyer for the National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday accused Boeing of union busting and retaliating against its Washington state workers for past strikes by moving to produce its new Dreamliner planes in South Carolina.
Executives of The Boeing Co. vowed to fight the NLRB bid to compel the aeronautics giant to make the next-generation aircraft, which has been dogged by delays, cost overruns and testing mishaps, at its plant in Everett, Wash., instead of at a 584,000-square-foot factory under construction next to Charleston International Airport.

Reactions to the NLRB was swift and harsh: Boeing Executive Vice President Michael Luttig blasted the ruling as "frivolous," said the company will fight it in court and expressed confidence that production of the 787s will begin as scheduled this summer at its new North Charleston plant.
"Boeing has every right under both federal law and its collective bargaining agreement to build additional U.S. production capacity outside of the Puget Sound region," Luttig said.
Rep. Tim Scott, a first-term North Charleston Republican on the House GOP leadership team, accused President Barack Obama of playing politics to appease his pro-labor allies.
"Such heavy-handed tactics on behalf of the president's union supporters are an affront to the people of the Palmetto State who voted overwhelmingly in support of a constitutional amendment guaranteeing workers the right to secret ballots in union elections," Scott said
...
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., delivered a scathing indictment of the NLRB move.
"This is one of the worst examples of unelected bureaucrats doing the bidding of special interest groups that I've ever seen," Graham said. "In this case, the NLRB is doing the bidding of the unions at great cost to South Carolina and our nation's economy."

The NLRB said this: Solomon, NLRB's top lawyer, alleged in his complaint that Boeing's decision to open a nonunion factory in South Carolina was made in retaliation for five strikes at its Seattle-area plants between 1977 and 2008.Read more: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/04/20/2238074/nlrb-tries-to-block-boeings-plant.html#ixzz1K8N3PkNa
So, because a company chose a right to work state over a pro-union state to avoid labor problems now is illegal according to Obama's NLRB. And if they do this, the Gestapo NLRB thinks it can force a company to send work a union plant over a non-union plant. What utter BS.
This is just a big sloppy kiss Obama just gave to the unions. But the reality is that that Boeing will appeal this, all the way through the NLRB appeals and then in the Federal court system where they have the law on their side. This will take years to resolve and Boeing will continue to use the South Carolina plant. And when it gets to the courts, the NLRB and union will be laughed out of court.

The Obama Narcissismm Tour Continues

President Obama is a narcissist and if he didn't think he was a great guy, he probably would have admit it himself. But another example of Obama's narcissism is from Byron York: On Wednesday, President Obama held a town hall at the headquarters of Facebook in Palo Alto, California, during which he was asked, "If you had to do anything differently during your first four years, what would it be?" Obama, it turns out, is no better at analyzing his own missteps than Bush.
The president began his response haltingly, pointing out that he has actually been in office just two and a half years, and "I'm sure I'll make more mistakes in the next year and a half." But what mistakes has he already made? "There are all sorts of day-to-day issues where I say to myself, oh, I didn't say that right, or I didn't explain this clearly enough," Obama said, "or maybe if I had sequenced this plan first as opposed to that one, maybe it would have gotten done quicker."
But the president mentioned no actual mistakes. Next, he brought up the health care battle, not to admit error but to praise the work of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in pushing the national health care bill through Congress. The fight got pretty complicated, Obama said, "and I've asked myself sometimes is there a way that we could have gotten it done more quickly and in a way that the American people wouldn’t have been so frustrated by it?" Was that possibly a mistake? Obama quickly excused himself. "I’m not sure I could have because there’s a reason why it hadn’t gotten done in a hundred years," the president explained. "It's hard to fix a system as big as health care and as complicated as our health care system." After a good bit of talking, Obama still had not mentioned any mistake or anything he would do differently.
At that point, Obama decided to steer away from the subject of mistakes altogether. "I think the best way to answer the question is what do I feel I still have to get done," he said. He briefly mentioned the deficit and immigration reform.

No mistakes eh? How about the bowing before world leaders, giving the Queen of England your speeches on an I-Pod. The response to the oil spill in Gulf last year or the budgets that waste money. How about all the travel he does on the taxpayer dime all the while polluting the environment. The debt he and his Democrat buddies have amassed? Gitmo? Trying to hold civilian trials for the terrorists at Gitmo. Not having the Border Patrol arrest illegals. Joe Biden. Ripping on Las Vegas not once but two times.
Yep, narcissism is a very cruel disease.

Nine Metro Police Shootings In Las Vegas This Year

So far, in less than 4 months, there have been 9 Metro officer involved police shootings, in addition to a school police shooting and I believe a North Las Vegas police shooting at the beginning of the year. This is according to Channel 13 and 8 news.
Last night, another thug was taken out by Metro after he shot two times at officers and then was shot by the cops and later died. from the Las Vegas Sun: A Metro Police officer fatally shot a man who opened fire on him after a car pursuit Tuesday near the UNLV campus, authorities said.
A male and female officer tried to pull over a motorist about 8:05 p.m. after spotting a vehicle weaving on Flamingo Road, police said. The man wouldn’t stop and, concerned that he was heading toward the Strip, the officers spun out the car at the intersection of Swenson Street, police said.
Metro Capt. Patrick Neville said the man exited the car, fired a shot toward officers, started to flee, then turned around and fired another round. The male officer returned fire, striking the
gunman several times, police said.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Neither of the officers was injured.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/19/police-fatally-shoot-armed-man-who-fired-officer/ It's getting to the point where a police officer shooting is ho hum news in the Valley.
Most of the shootings are legitimate, like probably last nights and other shootings where the thugs pulled knives and/or guns on the cops.
However, every now and then, they get a shooting wrong, as the Trevon Cole case shows. The family is now suing Metro and others for $10,000,000 for the shooting that occurred last year. Again, from the Sun: The family of Trevon Cole, who was fatally shot by an officer last June, has filed a lawsuit against Metro Police seeking $10 million in damages.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, names the department as a defendant as well as Sheriff Douglas Gillespie; Brian Yant, who shot Cole while he was a detective in the narcotics division; and John Harney, a sergeant who was Yant’s supervisor when the shooting occurred.
Yant fired one shot that killed 21-year-old Cole, who was unarmed, during a raid at the Las Vegas apartment he shared with his nine-months-pregnant fiancee, Sequioa Pearce. Police said Cole made a “furtive movement” toward Yant when the detective kicked open a bathroom door and found Cole allegedly flushing marijuana down the toilet.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/apr/20/family-trevon-cole-files-civil-rights-suit-against/
I've blogged about this case in the past and this is a case where the cops made a very tragic mistake. Yes, Cole was a minor drug dealer and was probably trying to flush pot down the toilet, but Metro over reacted and it ended up in the death of Cole. My guess is that the family will settle for about $5 million without the case going to trial.
But it boggles the mind that there have been that many police shootings so far this year and even the past 2 years. I am pretty sure this has to be the most shootings of any police agencies in the United States. Why do thugs put themselves in these positions of being shot is beyond me and why is it happening in Las Vegas as opposed to other cities?
