Pawn Stars Review: April 18, 2011

This week for me is a very nice and quiet week. Spring break is finally here and no school for the kids or teachers. I don't know who is happier. But it has been a brutal time for the school district as we face more than 2,500 layoffs of teachers, administrators and support staff. But we'll get through, like we usually do.
Spring is here, I hope but it has been very windy here the past week, almost as windy as Chumlee.
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a Confederate knife or Arkansas toothpick. The guy wanted $5000 for it but Rick was concerned about it being a fake. Time for an expert, Geoff. He said the knife was real except for the handle and said it was worth $500. The guy wanted $1000 and rick $325 and then $400 and that was the deal.
The next guy had a classic car, 1970 Honda Z600. It looked like a matchbox toy and had a small engine. It ran with with some ether poured in. The guy wanted $4000 and Rick offered $400. No sale.
The next guy brought in Bernie Madoff's Rolex which was made in 1936. The guy bought it at a Marshal Service auction. The guy wanted $75,000. Rick looked at the Rolex and said it was all original except the dial and hands. Rick offered $10,000. It sounds like the guy got ripped off and there was no sale.
The next guy brought in a boxing bell signed by Sonnly Liston a former heavyweight boxer. The guy wanted $600 and Corey offered $300 and then $400 and that was the deal. They brought in Drew to make sure the signature was real and said it was not real.
The next guy brought in a bowling arcade game. It's something you would find in an arcade, bar or arcade of way back when and was built in the 1950's. They didn't want turn it on. The guy wanted $6000 and Rick offered $1000 and that was the deal. Not bad because the guy only paid $50. Then at the end of the show, it showed Chumlee breaking the glass.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a seat from the U.S. Senate and Senator McCarren, who was a senator from Nevada. (the man who wanted to sell got it as a retirement gift. Boy, I would be pissed if I knew he was trying to pawn it). The main airport in Las Vegas is named after McCarren. Time for an expert, Mark. Mark said it was the real thing. Rick offered $2000 and the guy wanted $5000 and it sold for $3100. He should give the money back to the people that gave him the chair.
The next segment shows the Old Man getting a new office, which is what he uses now, since the show started. I know he was getting bugged by autograph seekers and picture takers when he sat in the pawn area. In the end, he got a very nice office.
The next brought in an autographed Gemini launch picture. It was signed by several astronauts, including Buzz Aldrin, and Gus Grissom and others. Time for the expert, Drew from Autograph Unlimited. He saw the autograph picture of Neil Armstrong. Also James Lovell, who is from Milwaukee, WI. Drew said it was real and said it was worth about $4-5000. The guy wanted the $5000. Corey offered $1500 and then $2000 and that was the deal.
the next guy brought in a Ryan Newman fire suit he drives in the races. Newman drives in the NASCAR Sprint series and is one of the better drivers. This came from the Winston Cup series, which was before Sprint before the series switched because of the cigarette/smoking issue. The guy wanted $1000 and Rick offered $400 and then $450.
Thenext guy brought in some Asian wood carvings. They were on a big piece of wood and carvings were dug into the wood. Rick didn't want to buy it because of the size and the type of wood. (tropical wood in the desert doesn't work out so well)
Well, thanks for stopping in and there will be some more new episodes next week. Have a nice week.

  1. Does anyone know how I can reach the seller of those carvings and make an offer on those carvings, if he still has them ? I like wood carvings.
    Thanks for your ideas.

  2. I guess contact the shop at 702-385-7912would be the best and they can help get in contact with the owner.
Since the seller appears to be from the Las Vegas area, it may fairly easy to contact them via the shop.
