UNR President, Milt Glick died suddenly while having dinner with his wife. From RGJ.com:
UNR President Milt Glick died of a stroke Saturday night while out having dinner with his wife. Glick was taken to the hospital, but never recovered, according to Dan Klaich, Chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Glick assumed his duties at UNR in May 2006, and since coming shepherded the opening of several major student-centered buildings, increased recruitment of National Merit Scholars to the Reno campus and the creation of a more culturally diverse campus. He did so in an environment that economically has become increasingly constrained. http://www.rgj.com/article/20110417/NEWS/110417004/UNR-President-Milt-Glick-dies-massive-stroke?odyssey=modbreakingtextFRONTPAGE This is kind of shocking, especially when a person who has been making news because of the cut backs and the pressure the clark County Commissioners have put on Glick and UNR about improving the medical school in Las Vegas. A few weeks ago, Glick and the medical college were given grief about having the new dean (or 2nd in charge) of the Medical School live in Las Vegas full time. So, our thoughts are with the family first followed by the UNR community and hopefully, politics will not take over this tragedy.
