Election Day In Nevada

Today is primary election day in Nevada. In the Valley, the only interesting race is for the mayor of the City of Las Vegas. There are 18 candidates running with only 3 or 4 that have a legitimate chance. Carolyn Goodman is running for the seat that is being currently held by her husband, Oscar. She will win the primary and may even get the 50% needed to win the seat out right. Others running are some alderman and Clark County commissioners who should never be elected anything but ditch digger, and that is insulting ditch diggers. There is another guy, Victor Chaltiel, a business man. He has put in a lot of his own money in the race, so it would be nice if there was a run off between Goodman and Chaltiel. In Henderson, there are some races for the city council. since the incumbents can't even time some traffic lights and their opponents really have sent me any literature about them, who cares about these races. So, get out and vote, but since their are so few people voting, maybe enough to fill Sam Boyd Stadium with people voting in the County, we could have some interesting results.

  1. I'm glad that Victor Chaltiel dude didn't get in. He came off not only vaguely creepy, he also looked to be trying to buy the election. When you look at how many votes he DID get, it's clear that money DOES buy you something when it comes to election day. He was fourth, I think?

I think we've gone light years past where we should of when it comes to money in elections. They're predicting that Obama will have to raise a BILLION dollars for the election, and so will his opponent. That's just freaking nuts. We should seriously consider reforming the way we hold elections. Isn't EVERYONE sick to DEATH of overblown wall-to-wall political ads?

You know the ones I mean: (forboding music) Dan the Badger wants your vote. But WHO. IS. Dan the Badger? And WHAT kind of animal is a badger anyway? Isn't it kind of like a weasel? Why should we trust Dan? (happy patriotic music) That's why I'm voting for Jamie the Buckeye! Jamie the Buckeye is GOOD for America. And he's good for YOU TOO!
