Whoopeedo. Congress passed the budget. From FoxNews:
Congressional leaders, with barely an hour to go before a federal government, announced late Friday night they had reached a deal to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year. The deal includes $38.5 billion in spending cuts while leaving the more contention policy matters, such as blocking funding for Planned Parenthood, for a later debate.... Of the $38.5 billion in spending cuts to Obama's original 2011 budget proposal, the short-term stopgap measure contains the first $2 billion and the final budget bill will cut the other $36.5 billion. It was a remarkable end to a roller-coaster week of negotiations, in which the government several times seemed headed for a shutdown because the two sides couldn't agree on a full-year deal. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/04/08/congress-strikes-budget-deal-averts-government-shutdown/ $38.5 billion cuts out of a $ 1 trillion dollar or so budget? That's it? That's pathetic, especially since Obama wanted even more budget cuts. What was the point of sending in the real conservatives if this was all they were going to get. And Planned Parent Hood still gets federal money? All I can say, is the GOP caved. They should have shut down the government to get more spending cuts While details have not come out, all I can say if Obama Care is funded in this budget, I will be extremely pissed. Some good news: Vouchers are going to be available to Washington D.C. students but the bad news is that they only put in $2,000,000. It will help, but that is hardly enough, I would think. I wished the GOP would have stuck to their core beliefs and if that meant closing down the government, so be it. But to get only $38.5 billion cuts is just a spit in the wind and disgraceful.
