Las Vegas Is Getting Closer To Juarez, Mexico

Sadly, Las Vegas is slowly going down the slow track of imitating Mexico city, and not in a good way.
Two times in the past week, groups of Hispanics have decided to commit murder right on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Strip, has an unwritten rule is where locals don't go down there and cause trouble, especially violent crimes.
Then, last night there was a shooting at a local funeral parlor, just a few blocks from Fremont St. where 7 people where shot. From the LVRJ: A man who shot seven people at a murder victim's funeral service Wednesday night was trying to kill a witness to the slaying, a police source said Thursday.
The source, who was briefed on the incident, said the target of the shooting was Steven Velasquez, 23.
Velasquez was attending 21-year-old Andres Elena's funeral at Palm Mortuary in downtown Las Vegas about 7 p.m. when a man at the service pulled a handgun and began firing at him.
Velasquez was not struck. Six other adults and one teenager were shot, although none of their injuries appeared life-threatening.
"This guy (the suspect) obviously sprayed a whole bunch of other people in the process," said the source.
Elena was stabbed to death on a Strip pedestrian walkway June 25 during a fight with another group of adult Hispanic men. Velasquez, a friend of Elena's, also was stabbed that night.

This is what they do down in Mexico, especially in cities like Juarez, but in Juarez, they are better shots and more powerful weapons.
We have had some disturbing incidents in the past year or so. One of those incidents, a group of Hispanics went on a wilding spree, eventually killing a teacher walking to work.
There have numerous murders in the past year, many dealing with drugs or people on drugs. One case involved a "man" killing a 15 year old girl for no particular reason except the guy was on drugs.
Traditions from Mexico are becoming common place. A couple of months ago, a woman, native to Mexico, died when she got a butt enhancement from a "doctor" from South America when he blew up her butt and got the enhancement gel into her veins or arteries. The caught the quack, but Hispanics still go to these quacks.
Hispanic gangs are running wild in the northeast side of town. Gang graffiti is everywhere. At school I teach at, which is relatively safe, has had problems with Hispanic gangs. While the kids at school are trying to learn English, many of their parents are unable to speak English and have problems assimilating into the Las Vegas community. For the most part, these families don't even try to assimilate. There are definite racial problems with the Blacks and Hispanics in town.
If you drive down Eastern Ave. from the 95 north to Lake Mead Blvd at night, it looks like a Mexican city for better or worse.
Because of the depression in Las Vegas, many illegal aliens have left town. But those leaving are not the criminals but the one's who lost legitimate work and went back to Mexico or other places in the U.S. to find work. This leaves a large criminal element in town.
Of course, this doesn't mean all Hispanics in Las Vegas are bad. I know many Hispanics from school and our neighborhood and they some of the best people around. But the Hispanic criminal element is threatening to undo any positive feelings that have been gained over the years. If this recent crime problem which seems to be intensifying over the past year, there are going to be repercussions. When you have someone shooting 7 people at a funeral home, those criminals are no different than those than exist in places like Juarez, Mexico.
I hope the Hispanic community leaders along with Metro police and even the Border Patrol can come up with a plan to combat the criminal gangs in the Hispanic Community. The leaders, especially the Church leaders need to preach morals. The Border Patrol needs deport the criminals, even if the person arrested is arrested for a minor crime. And Metro needs to increase patrols, increase intelligence on the gangs and try and beak the cycle of violence. Finally, the families of the criminals and gang members need to turn them in to the police or make them change their ways. Everyone needs to get their act together or we can kiss Las Vegas good bye.
