The Detroit Tigers lost tonight in a 1 game playoof to see who would win the A.L Central Division. Of course, being a team from Detroit, they lost 6-5 in 12 innings. What makes this sad is that the Tigers were up 3 games with 4 games left.
So, you have the miserable Detroit Lions, who have 1 game the past 2 seasons.
The Pistons were 39-43 in basketball.
The Red Wings did a pretty good, losing in the Stanley Cup finals, 4-3. There is always an exception to the rule. But they are winless this season.
With sky high unemployment in the Detroit area, you would hope their teams would bring some joy to the city. But no, just total disappointment.

Do you know what happens when a Detroit team wins a league championship? Celebratory riots, with arson and looting. I'm not being sarcastic; that really happened when the Pistons won the NBA championship. If I remember correctly, it also happened when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup. I don't think it happened when the Michigan Panthers won the USFL championship in 1983, but that's because hardly anyone was watching.
