The WIAA, from Wisconsin, made another stupid decision today. The Ashwaubenon School District canceled classes because of the flu- something I disagree with, but I digress- and it also had a boys soccer game scheduled with DePere in the first round of the State Soccer Tournament.
From the Green Bay Press Gazette: High school classes have been canceled today and Friday because of the high number of students sick, and WIAA rules state athletic events can’t be played on a day when school is canceled. More than 40 percent of the high school student body was out ill yesterday, according to district officials

The WIAA, in their infinite wisdom, forfeited the game to DePere and so DePere advances to the second round without even playing a game.
Let me ask you this: If there was a freak snowstorm during the state basketball tournament ands a team in the finals had to cancel school, would they make the basketball team forfeit their game? Of course not, especially if it involved a Milwaukee school. Just think of television revenue they would lose.
So, the WIAA is acting like the tyrants they always have been and another school and community is getting ripped off because of it.
