Muslims And Gays: Can The Co-Exist In New York?

A group of Muslims are threatening to build a mosque in NYC, two blocks from Ground Zero. This has been in the news and running rampant in the blogosphere. For me, I just don't the Muslims are going to build it- first they have to come up with $100 million and second, who is going to build it? No union will touch that project.
But now comes the clincher in making sure the mosque won't be built now. A developer, a gay liberal, I believe, is threatening to build a gay night club next to the Mosque.

Everyone has been telling 9-11 victims and others to be compassionate and allow the mosque to be built. Who cares if the Muslims killed 2000+ people just two blocks away.
So now, will the Muslims be compassionate and understanding to having a gay night club next to the mosque? What's good for the goose is good for the gander (or maybe another goose, in this situation)

  1. First of all, the proposed project isn't a mosque, it's a community center (along the lines of a YMCA). Secondly, as John Stuart pointed out the other night, there is already a mosque in that neighborhood (built 40 years ago). Third, there is already at least one gay bar in the neighborhood (see http://www.mahablog.com/2010/08/10/ends-and-odds-mostly-odds/). Also, the group who want to build the community center are Sufis, not Sunnis (as different as Lutherans are from Branch Davidians). Michelle Malkin is a propogandist, not a journalist.
