Is Dina Titus Telling The Truth In Her Latest Ad?

Dina Titus, PhD, is running a new advertisement saying she is helping people with their mortgages.
From the Las Vegas Sun: "Titus, a Democrat, has made the foreclosure crisis the top priority, and she features several families who faced -- and staved off -- foreclosure in her ad.
"I made over 100 calls to the bank, but Dina made them listen to us," Marisol Repko tells the camera.
"Dina helped us renegotiate our loan," Cate Costanzo explains.
"And she saved our home," Chatauna Robinson says"

So, here is the problem. If you go to the Clark County Court web pages and look for cases involving these people mentioned, there is nothing listed. So, how close were they to filing foreclosure?
Did Titus or the Las Vegas Sun exaggerate these people's closeness to foreclosures?
I have no doubt that these people may have had problems with their loans and they asked Titus for her office's help. I think that Titus's people probably called the bank on their behalf. I am also sure that they did not get federal help with their mortgages, which is a plus.
But, these people were not close to losing their homes. They were not foreclosed on and there was no court action against them to start foreclosure proceedings.
So, a little white lie in politics. I guess that is what they teach in political science courses at UNLV.
Or did the Las Vegas Sun lie for Dina Titus?

  2. When you are days away from receiving foreclosure notices and you have no money because your & your spouse could not find work for almost a year and you exhausted of your means , I can say very close. You really don't know what we were dealing with. And no, there weren't any white lies here. You also don't know what type of assistance that I received so you shouldn't assume. Cate Costanzo

  3. My guess is that Titus's staff made calls on your behalf and the borrowers called back and you dealt with the borrowers.
I am sympathetic to your plight as I have been in very desperate times and I have called a politican to help. But it was not a politician who got me out of my bad times, it was myself. I think the same is true for you. Titus's staff helped out but you did the hard work your self.

  4. I would like to thank you, Cate, for stopping by. My biggest hang up with Titus is that she has no real life experiences. She has never punched a time clock, managed a payroll etc. I am happy that she intervened on your behalf, but I am sure if Heck was elected, his staff would have intervened on your behalf.
So, if I am wrong, I invite you or a member of Titus's staff to say I am wrong. If someone can say Titus has more life experience than Dr. Joe Heck, I challenge Titus or her staff to prove otherwise.

  5. Dan: I don’t know the circumstances of these people and don’t presume to. These are tough times for most Americans. I live in Boulder City; it’s a small close nit community.
You can feel it in the atmosphere here.

But from personal experience with Congresswoman Dina Titus, and her wonderful Congressional office staff, they have been able to help me in a complex set of issues.
Dealing with Social Security (after 7 years that I have been fighting with them) we’re not finished with them quite yet but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, also with Clark County Social Services.

Also another staff member is helping me with a Veterans Administration issue that’s been going for years. So in conclusion, I hate the political season seems to bring out the worst in people, throwing stones and slinging mud an all. She has my vote come November.
I just hope everyone votes, if not don’t bitch. At least as a Freshmen Congresswoman we know she has experience, made a difference here in the district and in Washington.

Signed; A grateful, independent voter, disabled veteran, retired, Brian

  6. Thank you Brian for writing and I am glad Titus and her staff working for you and if she does a good job for you, that is great and you should vote for her.
My problem is with her inexperience and her political views.
I would expect a Congress person to have a good office and work with their constiutuents, and I am sure Dr. Heck would do the same for you.
But I don't blame you for voting for her, since she has helped you. She has earned our vote.
